We arrived there at 4:10 PM to catch a very early dinner as both my daughter and I had not eaten that day. The waitress came, gave us oue menus and waters and left. Thirty five minutes later we got up and left as no one had come to take our order or refill our waters. We could see empkoyees standing around talking to each other. We were the only ones in the restaurant, so I know they were not too busy. If they were not serving yet we would have understood, but that was not communicated to us. David's grill is located just two blocks from our house, so it is super convenient to grab a quick bite. In the summer time the patio is open and they often have bands playing all kinds of different music. Tonight they had a guy playing the sad. It was wonderful music to accompany a fabulous dinner. I went here to get some food for someone who couldn't get over to order and they refused to take my order. They were extremely rude and very condescending. I've eaten here before but it is extremely overpriced and doesn't reach the quality that one would expect. They think that just because they're part of a golf course that they are something special. I can tell you I've eaten at some very fine establishments and this is definitely not one of them. And be very careful because I have seen on 2 separate occasions a server go in to the bathroom and not wash their hands when coming out. I don't think that I could recommend this place in good conscience. Also since before I even placed this review they were barely even rate 3 Stars. So obviously i'm not the only one who has had problems with them. read more

Red Hawk Golf and Resort has been an all time favorite of mine for a couple of years now, I had been going to the Easter Brunches in the Events Center and this is my first time at David's Grill... but not my last! First of all, I need to give Courtney, our host and server the credit for making my day, Mother's Day such an enjoyable event. Courtney was attentive, pleasant and in the midst of an embarrassing event for the restaurant, she was poised and handled it with fun and integrity. Thank you Courtney! The venue, A+++, elegant, quiet in beautiful surroundings. Maybe cozy quarters for a buffet but organized. The walls are decorated with sports memorabilia - jerseys of some of the 49ers, Wolf Pack players, golfers, and baseball players. Some antique sports equipment. Really cool stuff. And to make it even better for the men in my family and party, the golf tournament was on the various televisions that are spread out in the restaurant. The food was buffet and fantastic! The Spanish Egg Frittata, Chorizo, Peppers, Manchego Cheese was savory and a good mixture of spice. There were scrambled eggs for my son who is a no frills type of guy and an omelet station for dad. The Brioche "French Toast" Bread Pudding, Cinnamon Crumble Topping melted in your mouth and mom and dad both agreed that the Seared Scottish Salmon, Raspberry Walnut Vinaigrette was cooked perfected, moist and smooth. For the alcohol drinkers I saw rivers of mimosas and bloody marys. I'm not an alcoholic beverage type of person, but to see those little berries floating in the mimosas looked like it was a refreshing drink and perfect to celebrate the day! The Dijon Crusted Aged New York Strip Loin, Rosemary Demi Glaze was not overcooked - I know it can be hard to roast a huge slab of meat and either have it undone or overcooked. In this case, it came out perfectly with the right amount of seasoning. I had a funny incident at David's Grill.. One of the items on the buffet was snow crab. Have you ever tried to eat crab without those cute little shell cracker instruments and little forks? Well the restaurant hadn't thought ahead when planning the menu. It was very funny for myself and family to watch me try to bust open a crab leg with my bare hands! When I asked for those little forks, a cute little server gave me 2 huge forks. Maybe I should have asked for a hammer! Back to Courtney... I think she was a little embarrassed but handled it very well. We all had a good laugh. I hope everyone had a good sense of humor regarding that item on the menu! Cost may be a bit pricey... $35.99 but well worth it for this celebration. Parking is ample. Can't beat the scenery. Rolling green hills and the golf course with the mountains as a back drop. You feel refreshed being out here away from the "biggest little city". My daughter just wrote a review and I am sure she was far to nice in describing our food . I had fish and chips , over salted and the batter on my fish was rubbery and not hot the coleslaw was probably made afew earlier and without any flavor or dressing. I sent it back and was offered fruit salad that was far from fresh. My daughter's ahi tuna salad was sparse of tuna with wilted and older greens. Yes we ate it because we were embarrased to make a scene. I must say all the personal and waiters were friendly, attentive and did a good job . The manager on the other hand needs to be educated on customer service big time, abrupt and condescending. Couldn't deal with her at all. She acted as though the whole problem was our fault ! A lovely sanctuary in the Oasis of Busyness. Always quiet + always quick with their burgers and beautiful salads. I run in from busy Vista Blvd to relax. Catch my breath and munched on a beautiful salad and a cheese burger. Unlimited iced tea not bad either. If you are ever in the Sparks / Wingfield Springs area. The high ceiling dining room offers two fireplaces. In the summer I sit on the covered patio. A wonderful spot to have intimate dinners. Many private rooms for special events. Long overdue update here. David's has done an EXCELLENT job updating their menu and refreshing the staff in the last two years. They have a new menu, updated from a few months ago even, and both are really good. Breakfast is solid and patio seating in the spring and summer early mornings/late evenings is prime. The happy hour snacks are solid and dinner is amazing -- pastas, pork chop, bacon wrapped tenderloin, and wedge salad are our jams. Kelsey at the bar is an absolute doll. It's a little pricey but the best all around food in Spanish Springs. Cool chill bar to hang out and watch baseball or golf at. Save yourself the aggravation of dining at a place where the servers are less than courteous; they are downright disrespectfull and obviously untrained. At the end of our meal, when presented with the Bill for over $92.00, I wrote a note that I would not TIP for surly, disrespecful service. As we were leaving, the server got in my face demanding to know why she was not receiving a TIP. All of this occurred in front of our friends who had joined us for a drink. I don't know who hired these miscreants but they need to be fored. It is well understood that a TIP is not an entitlement; it is recognition for good service............the service was terrible, food was cold and had to wait for silverware and napkins. I had 3 separate discussion with a woman who identified herself as the "Manager".......after listening to her, it is no small wonder the servers are arrogant, disrespectful and downright lazy. The owner needs to get new management and clean out these morons. read more

My husband had Filet Mignon which was served nice & warm with baked potato & squash medley (Although we both needed to-go boxes, he ate every bite of the squash). David's has been a place that always falls off the radar for me even though it is in my general vicinity. I have eaten here many times over the past 10-15 years and watched it go through many changes. Some good some bad. I was here a couple of weeks ago on a Thursday night and it was pretty decent. The service was friendly enough but not really speedy or efficient. We had a few different people serving our food, taking drink orders and bringing the check so it was somewhat confusing and lackluster for the prices that are charged. It isn't a very expensive place but pricey enough to expect great and friendly service. The food was fantastic. We had the steak skewers with blue cheese and string fries. They were amazing. So so good. We also had the steamed artichoke with brown butter and hummus. Loved having hummus with the artichoke. It made a nice impression and was a nice surprise. We split the turkey sandwich with fries. The sandwich was really good. Lots of meat and the fries were crispy and tasty. Overall the experience was pretty good. I will definitely come back in the hopes that the service has improved. The ambience is awesome and eating outside in the summer time is pretty amazing. read more

David's is trying to be upscale... However, the food is inconsistent.. Sometimes good sometimes not so. They have one (1) good bartender and (1) bad. Drinks are double the price they should be, and so is the food. Nice patio seating, but feels stuffy. No music to buffer the awkward conversations around you. Again, watch out to how many drinks you order ($$$$) Decent sports on the TV. Young helper couldn't get a particular game on for me yet he did try. No MLB package.. no biggie. Breakfast is a ghost town. Tho the food is decent, we got terrible service in the AM.. expect no one to fill your coffee mug. Parking is terrible, and confusing. All in all, David's is sort of sad, stuffy, and overpriced.. I live close by and have given it multiple tries. Last night I received one of the worst steaks ever. Davids grill is literally within walking distance of our house. There is ample parking and on some days valet parking. There is seating both inside and out. The inside seating is quite comfortable with a fireplace and several tv's. There is also a seperate room which is the bar. If you can swing it and it is not to cold or windy, sit outside on the patio. The view is beautiful, you see golfers finishing up on the 18th hole. Just being outside is wonderful, and the patio area has alot of shade. My wife and I sat on the patio, there was a slight breeze, it felt really good. I ordered a combo personal pizza with extra crispy crust. The pizza was delivered within 15 minutes and it looked great. The combo has salami, pepperoni,olives,onions mozzarella and grated parmesan. My first bite was made with such excitement that this may be the pizza. But as i chewed i realized something was missing. Where is the pizza sauce. It was there but you could hardly taste it. The rest of the pizza was fantastic. We will be back and i will try something different. UPDATE. I was just contacted by Davids and asked to change my review. Apparently the peppermill and western village do not own Davids , even though one of there employees told me different. read more

Not sensitive to allergies. Both plates came out with what i said not to put on. Waiter blamed the cooks and said sorry and shrugged it off. She only came back to drop the check. She did apologize, no manager came or was notified. Waited 1 hr and 15 for food. It was Mothers Day so i understand. But the place was 60% occupancy and most were eating the buffet and not ordering individual dishes. Nice scenery. Really pretty area, good weather that day. We've been for lunch or dinner several times and it's always been decent. It's gone downhill since Covid. This review is strictly based on the $65 per person thanksgiving buffet. We went for the first time in 2019 and it was OUTSTANDING. Like food we still think about outstanding. Then we got 2020 to go bc covid and it was awful. Like so bad we boxed it back up and took it downtown and fed some homeless people. Not joking. Then we tried again last year and it was....okay. This year, I don't I ow why, but we went again. Never again. It's worth MAYBE $25-$30 per person. The stuffing was so dense you could hardly scoop it. The potatoes were HARD. The gravy was COLD. The carrots had no flavor. The desserts are not even interesting enough to try. So for sure this is out last holiday meal there. My eggs benedict was one of the worst I've ever tried, and my husband's chicken panini wasn't too great either. The "beer battered" french fries tasted nothing like beer, and were just OK. Went to David's Restaurant for Christmas Eve dinner last year, have been to the grill many times and eaten in the bar area and patio overlooking the 18 hole, service is very good, food is fine, we live here and frequent David's often. Would highly suggest their Christmas Eve dinner though, it was so nice last year that we are booking again for Christmas Eve 2021, meal is superb, treat your wife or significant other to a wonderful candlelight dinner, not inexpensive, but worth every penny! read more
