    Mango lemon drop
    Janae T.

This restaurant was a smooth vibe. I loved the fact it's 24 hours I wish I knew on the days I was starving at 4/5/6am lol. We came around happy hour so a few drinks were half off or $ off period. I ordered a mango lemon drop and a sidecar. Which the sidecar got me . The lemon drop was good too it wasn't cold though. For food I ordered the creamy Cajun pasta with chicken and made it jerk flavored. That was one of THE BEST pastas I've ever had . Omg it was so creamy the chicken was tender and tasted jerk-y. I loved everything about the pasta . I will definitely have to come back again whenever I come back to Houston. The prices were decent, they serve breakfast lunch and dinner ALL day. With a very versatile menu of different southern/soul food options. Hookah was also available to purchase. 10/10 recommended

Our cocktails and appetizer was good, it just took too long to receive anything. The shrimp and grits were just ok. The shrimp were prepared well, the sauce was good, but it was served on plain flavorless grits. The waffles were served cold and dry. Warm syrup did come, but the service was extremely slow and the restaurant was not that crowded. This place looked good on social media, but was very underwhelming. Also, the AC was dripping onto our table and the hostess was aware and didn't offer any solutions. Based on this visit, I will not return.

The food was fire! Fish fried perfectly, oxtails tender with meat and lamb chops were so good! I didn't get a pic because it was so good! We also tried the pancakes and waffles which are drizzled with syrup , powdered sugar and fresh fruit! Our server Fee was FEEnomenal!! The service was top tier and we even were told about the happy hour that starts at 2p for $7 Hennessy Shots! I appreciate her telling us that and having us wait 15 mins to order our drinks to save money! Very thoughtful so I'm grateful! The decor is modern and fancy, great low background music for easy conversation and an outside patio option as well! Will be going back to try them as they are open 24 hrs serving brunch and dinner ALL 24 hours.

The reviews on this spot were crazy low but I like to judge for myself. We went right after church and luckily a parking spot was right in the front. Soon as we parked for free. The valet showed up and start charging for parking. Glad we missed that because I would have left. We walked in and were semi greeted Alicia was our hostess and she was great. She had a good attitude and great recommendations. We had the fish and porkchop and both Entrees were good. The yams were decent and Mac pretty good. The music was jamming. I loved that I could order breakfast or lunch no matter what time of the day. I enjoyed my experience and will be back!

(3.5/5 ) A few weeks ago, my friend and I jokingly said we wanted a restaurant named "Brinner" (Brunch and dinner). We didn't realize that that pretty much already existed in Houston, though under a different name: Day and Night! With both cozy inside and spacious patio seating, the quaint new addition on Almeda easily accommodated our party of 7 on a busy Saturday and had an all-star early 2000s R&B playlist going. Our server, Phee, was nice enough to move us closer to some heated lamps while on the patio because on one particular side it is extremely cold and windy (without any panel protection to block out some of that extreme weather). I ordered the catfish and grits and I'd almost wish mine had come out first because it looked much differently than my sisters. Her catfish was larger and the grits had a completely different texture. Mine was on the smaller end and the grits looked it runnier or more like a soup. I asked Phee for some additional sauce not realizing that the remoulade sauce that comes with the grits is an additional $ ($3). The taste of everything was good. It was just runny and smaller than I would have thought. I did order my food later, so maybe the cooks switched shifts. Everyone enjoyed their food. They loved the fried chicken and potatoes, but the ribeye was also on the smaller side. The highlight of visiting here was the service itself. I can't say that I would definitely return. The menu wasn't all that unique and again I just expected a larger size given the price point for brunch/brinner foods.

There was no greeter at the entrance, and the service was unexpectedly slow considering how few customers were there. Although the establishment was clean, many of the dine-in details felt very "to-go"--syrup and ketchup were provided in packets, which is unusual for a restaurant and took away from the experience. The food was also disappointing. The waffles weren't cooked thoroughly and had a bitter taste, though the chicken was just okay. Parking is limited as well; we had to park across the street at Dollar General. Fortunately, we had a clear view of the car the entire time, so we avoided being towed. There is only one unisex restroom, and based on the layout and limited space, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for groups larger than 10. If they would work on their quality of food, service and condiments. That would enhance the customer's experience.

The phone number doesn't work. The frozen margarita machine, not operational. The wait time, unnecessary. But the service, 10/10. This place is very small. It's newer, right next to 5015. The main reason we went was for the oxtail grits. Of course, in true melanin fashion, it was sold out. After we already waited 30mins to be seated. Once seated. They do not forget about you. Multiple people asked if we were helped, did we need water, menus, they checked on us throughout the meal. Very impressed with the service as the expectation for that was zero. The food was 7/10. I can't remember if the drinks were weak or strong, so there's that. My waffles were not hot or fresh enough but I dare not send anything back in this place... I wouldn't go back or recommend unless there is no wait, and the menu item you want is available.

Went here last year with a friend had the jerk lamb chops, lemon pepper okra, cheese grits it was fantastic! I go to Houston again, I'm definitely going here again. Service was top teir, sat on the balcony both times beautiful scenery really enjoyed myself.

On Saturday night, I was pleasantly surprised to find a parking spot right in front of the restaurant since it was packed. Unfortunately, there is a $20 charge for parking. We were seated as soon as we arrived. The crowd was nice--not overcrowded--with plenty of space between the tables. Our waiter greeted us almost immediately, and our drinks and food came out quickly. I ordered the pasta featured in my photo, and it was really delicious. I added jerk seasoning to my shrimp for an additional two dollars, and it was definitely worth it. Another friend ordered chicken and spaghetti, which was also very good, while a third friend had steak with eggs and waffles, which they enjoyed as well. The portion size for the pasta was just enough, so don't expect to take any home. I also tried the "Day and Night" margarita, but unfortunately, it left me feeling a bit nauseous. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for some tasty food late at night. However, I suggest finding free parking anywhere on the strip and avoiding the "Day and Night" margarita.

I've been wanting to try Day & Night since they opened...i finally learned that they reopened so I had to get in!...knowing that this location was on Almeda, I knew to expect some parking challenges. There are not alot of options. I ended up valeting at the bar next door for $20. My friend parked in the tiny parking space in front of the restaurant...WHY IS IT STILL $20??? That's actually wild but we did not let that discourage us because hey, its Houston *shrug* Anywhoo...we were greet by the nice waitresses and was seated. The menu was easy to glance over. I ordered a drink and chicken and spaghetti plate! The food came out fresh. The chicken 10/10!! I liked the spaghetti but it was a little too spicy for me. 7.5/10 They do charge a 15% gratuity for dine in which is fine bc I always tip 20%. Truthfully, the bill was so reasonable, my friend and I couldnt believe it. You cant go to alot of places in house and spend $40 on food and a drink! I will for sure be back!

Please be careful with where you park. The parking lot is pretty small and depending on the time you come, they may charge/tow. Street parking is always limited so be aware of the signs. All orders will have 15% gratuity so please check your tab. Our waitress Ms. Glenda felt like our very own auntie. She was super friendly, told what kind of modifications were possible and brought out all kinds of fixing to ensure we enjoyed our meal. The drinks were a 7/10. I ordered the a frozen blueberry mimosa and the drink was shaved ice and champagne then actually frozen. Now food! 8.9/10 and it's not a full 10/10 due to seasoning and cook preferences. I ordered the fried catfish which was seasoned to perfection but I wish the fish was fried a little harder. The spaghetti was made with turkey meat and for it be a side, I needed a full bowl. Full of southern comfort and flavor, I would go back and just order spaghetti. The greens also came full of favor and freshness. The fried pork chop was very crispy and flavorful! The hot sauce was a nice touch but not needed. The shrimp and grits were not my favorite, the grits lacked flavor and even with the addition of sugar and salt, I preferred the shrimp only. The inside is rather small so don't be afraid to eat outside. Even on a Houston afternoon outside, we were not hot.

First let me say the food was hands down really good! Went around the holidays so it was decorated for Christmas. (Loved that) our bartender/ waitress was super helpful in choosing menu items. We tried lamb chops/ pasta, jerk chicken pasta, wings & fries. I wasn't a fan of the wings (reason: size-I don't do big chicken, flavor lacked seasoning). When we expressed this, the cook/ Mgr was kind enough to remove it from our ticket (huge +) We tried a few cocktails too. The music was good, and the staff were nice as well. We will definitely return.

Lucky for me I walked here so I didnt have to deal with the parking issues. My food was amazing. It took a ling time for my food, but my servers were amazing. The music was sooo loud, but I had fun while waiting. I think the design was cool for a bar.

Even with the crowd, the line kept moving, and there was no shortage of delicious-looking options on the steam table. From fried chicken and turkey wings to baked fish, spaghetti, cabbage, green beans, mac and cheese, dressing, black-eyed peas, collard greens, candied yams, mashed potatoes, and more, it was hard to decide what to order because everything looked homemade. I ordered the turkey wing with collard greens, black-eyed peas, mashed potatoes with gravy, rice, a corn muffin, and sweet potatoes. I also grabbed a Suicide Punch, which is a mix of all their Kool-Aid flavors. First, let's talk about those sweet potatoes... BABY!! They absolutely stole the show. They were piping hot, buttery, perfectly sweet, and hands down the best thing on my plate. I could've easily eaten another serving. The collard greens were seasoned beautifully with a rich, smoky flavor and plenty of pot liquor. They were tender without being mushy and tasted like they had been cooking all day. The black-eyed peas were creamy, well-seasoned, and comforting, while the mashed potatoes were smooth and paired perfectly with the savory gravy. The rice soaked up every bit of that gravy, and the corn muffin was soft with just the right touch of sweetness. The turkey wing itself was tender, juicy, and covered in flavorful gravy. My only surprise was that I was expecting just the wing portion, but instead I received the whole wing with the drum attached. It wasn't a big deal because it was still delicious--I just personally prefer getting only the wing. The Suicide Punch was another winner. If you grew up drinking Kool-Aid, you'll appreciate it. It's sweet, refreshing, and a fun mix of all the flavors. My family ordered several other dishes, so we got to try quite a variety. We had baked chicken, macaroni and cheese, candied yams, and black-eyed peas, and everything was generously portioned. The baked chicken was moist and well-seasoned, and the mac and cheese had that creamy, homemade taste you hope for from a soul food restaurant. My only real complaint was that some of the food was served lukewarm instead of hot, which took away from the experience a little. Soul food just hits differently when it's fresh and piping hot. Ironically, the sweet potatoes were the one item that came out nice and hot, and they were absolutely perfect. Overall, Mikki's serves authentic soul food with generous portions and flavors that remind you of Sunday dinner at a family member's house. The food is comforting, the selection is impressive, and it's easy to see why the place stays busy. If everything had been served hot, this would've easily been a five-star experience. Pro tip: Don't leave without getting the sweet potatoes and a Suicide Punch. Trust me--you'll thank me later. sweet potatoes and a Suicide Punch free refills. Trust me--you'll thank me later.

They charged an 18% gratuity on my tab for a party of 8 but I arrived with 4 people, the other 4 had already been there, paid and was almost done with their meal. Then of course the cashier/waitress still mentioned an additional, optional tip. I didn't think that was fair. At the end of it all she wasn't the best waitress.

Listen! I know good soul food, and this spot here has "hit the spot!" But because it's Friday, it's…read moreCatfish Friday! So I quite naturally ordered the max. piece catfish (3 pc.) with fries and greens, and OMG! The flavor, the crispiness! Just like I fry it! Excellent customer service! Needless to say, this is now my "catfish spot" whenever I visit the area again. For dessert, I had the peach cobbler. Another hit! So balanced with flavor and sweetness! My family had the oxtails and blackened salmon. They are licking their fingers! Why is this place not rated a perfect 5?! You better believe they get 5 stars from me! Earned! (Sorry, I ate my fish and peach cobbler before I realized I didn't take a pic. And the presentation was magnificent on all plates!)

I ordered the turkey wings which came with rice & 2sides with cornbread. I got the black eyed peas & greens with no meat in my greens. The standout for me were the black eyed peas. They were excellent. Everything else was just ok. I liked that everything wasn't overly salty. It just lacked that extra kick. The serving sizes were pretty good & I have plenty leftovers. I would be back again to try another dish because I feel for soul food this was pretty healthy because it was overly salty.
