Have been to the DC a few times now and every time it has been extraordinary! I am not from here, but every time I make it down to Phoenix I make the drive out to Chandler for a steak at the DC with my fiance! Why would you wanna go to a chain and put more money into the big corporations when you can support a family owned restaurant Maybe its just a midwestern thing, but where I am from, we support our local families! Our night started out with a warm greeting from the hostess. We called ahead for reservations and she asked if we wanted to go to our table right away. We wanted to have a few cocktails first so we decided to start at the bar. I ordered a Cosmo ($8.00) and my fiance had a glass of wine($6.00). Drinks were great and priced very reasonably!! Bartender was very professional and friendly. After we finished our cocktails, we sat at a cute table by the window. Jake our waiter appeared soon after, brought us another round of drinks, and took our food order. For appetizers we started out with Wisconsin Cheese Curds, of course! For Dinner I ordered the New York Strip Medium rare and my fiance had a Filet medium well. The cheese curds tasted just like back home in WI - YUM!! Shortly after finishing our cheese curds, our salads were delivered. Fresh, crisp and Green! Exactly how a salad should be! Oh - and its included with your dinner! If you go downtown Phoenix to one of those chains, expect to pay $6-7 alone for your salad! Now for the best part - the steaks!! Seriously - my NY Strip was one of the best I ever had! It was cooked to perfection! 16oz - I ate about 3/4 and will have the rest for lunch tomorrow - cant wait!! And the mushrooms that are included with it - my mouth is still watering thinking about them! My fiance said his filet (8oz) was extremely tender and cooked just right as well! Good job DC - another wonderful dinner! When it comes to dessert, Tiramisu is my weakness and their homemade tiramisu was to die for!! As we finished our dinner, Dean the owner (or Dino he goes by I think) stopped by the table to check on us and say hello. We met him last time we came in. How many times can you say the owner of a place stopped at your table just to say HI and thanks for coming in! You can tell he truly appreciated our business. Overall, dinner and drinks came out to just a tad over $110 and it was one of the best meals I ever had! (Compare that to like $200 downtown). I gladly left a 25% tip - Jake was great! I came here with a great group of friends for a Sunday Dinner / Birthday Dinner. When I see the name "Steak House", my mouth immediately salivates because I am thinking of steak houses like Mastros City Hall, Flemings, etc. Unfortunately, this steak house is not even up to par. The food was very meh...nothing to get excited about. The service...horrible. It took over one hour just for us to get the food. We kept looking around the restaurant which was not even busy on a late Sunday afternoon for our waiter and he was no where to be found. All in all, don't waste your time here. I cannot believe people say the steak at Outback is better! If you appreciate the QUALITY of meat at a mice steakhouse, ignore those opinions. Last couple of times I went to OB, ordered the filet, told my husband I just don't want to bother anymore, as the meat is very blah, not worth it. Thus VERY happy to have found DC in the last year! If you are a sucker for seasoning salt flavor, you might not appreciate DC. If you can feel and taste the quality of a high-end cut of meat, you might be pleasantly surprised by the price point here. Steaks are 1/3 to even 1/2 what the big guys charge (depending on which high-end chain you compare price to). We have been to DC 4 times now, great quality meat (filet, NY, Porterhouse) NOT camouflaged in "seasoning" to hide mediocre quality like Outback. Good glasses of wine, sides are typical steakhouse good, but about 1/2 what the big dog chain steak houses charge. Bread is fresh & warm. Atmosphere is nice, warm, dark-ish but not cave-like. Classy but not fussy. Great wall mural, nice use of historic space. Happy to support a local biz when we want a steak night for less than $100. I jump on the coupon every time it gets released, as we are happy with full-price here. Discounted?! AWESOME. Basically, when we want the steakhouse experience (rather than grilling it ourselves) with a good quality cut of meat, we head to DC. Great balance of quality & price. read more

We had a Groupon whose expiration was nearing so we made reservations for a Wednesday evening at 7PM. A little over half of the tables were full, a little more than I would expect for a more expensive dinner (for downtown Chandler) in the middle of the work week. The restaurant is dimly lit but still warm and welcoming, and is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. I liked the candles on each table, the wall murals and the Sinatra era music playing the entire time we were there. The bar made me want a martini but I settled for a nice glass of Rioja. Our server was on point and did not try to rush us at all. At her suggestion, we tried the calamari, which looked like pretty standard calamari when it came out but had a really great flavor - the seasoning was perfect and my husband swore he could tell it was fresh and not the frozen stuff. It came with a side of marinara, but it would have been perfect if it had more of a cream sauce that calamari is sometimes served with (or just something better than a very plain marinara). Our included dinner salads were really satisfying and fresh (nothing like the "bagged salad" comments from other reviewers). The spicy cherry pepper in my salad packed a big punch (while my husband's had zero punch), which entertained my husband for a bit while I downed all the water at the table and ate all the remaining bread to diffuse the heat. The bread served with the meal was just okay - seemed like store bought french bread. I had the 8oz filet and my husband had the bone in ribeye, both with the loaded potato upgrade ($2). Both steaks were cooked perfectly and the seasoning was simple and really brought out the flavors of the steaks. I would say that their pricing is right on point with the quality of meat they are serving (my filet was worth every penny of that $33). The loaded potatoes come out as baked potatoes with a side of toppings that you mix in yourself. At first this disappointed me, but then I realized it was nice to be in control of my own potato, I made it just how I wanted it. Every staff member we came in contact with was very cheerful and accommodating. Between the staff, the steaks, and the ambiance, I would definitely recommend this restaurant to people looking for a nice evening out in downtown Chandler. read more

DC Steakhouse has become my favorite hangout since I moved to AZ, over a year ago. The steaks are wonderful, it's small and intimate but can accommodate large groups (make reservations though!) they are very popular. While they are on the pricier side, their weekday happy hour till 6pm with $5 martinis and excellent appetizers (also half price) has me going back more often than I care to admit. I would love to give a review of the food, but I wouldn't know what the food tastes like, because we left the restaurant after having no service. We arrived and sat for 30 minutes while our server waited on the table beside us. We went inside the restaurant and asked if we had a server. The server who was waiting on the table beside us came over roughly 5 minutes later and let us know she wasn't informed that we arrived. What!?! After waiting ten minutes after that and still didn't even have waters, we just got up and left and ate at the restaurant across from DCs. Never again. We waisted 45 minutes with no service whatsoever. The food is expensive at DCs and I expect good service. read more

Miserable experience from start to finish. First off our table had 2 servers.. which is bizarre for an 8 top. This was not made clear to us by the restaurant staff but just something we picked up on as 2 different people were stopping by to take orders. The drink orders were taken in good time and the drinks took roughly how long you'd think for a busy restaurant which was fine. The drinks themselves however pretty over diluted and not well received. We ordered a couple of apps for the table which then took roughly 30 minutes to appear. During this long wait you'd think the natural progression would be to come check on the table and msybe offer to take our entrée orders. NOPE! Not once since the appetizers were ordered til they appeared did we see our server. Once we finally were able to place our entrée orders we had a brutally long wait which was made all the worse when after 50 minutes our server re appeared to let a member of our party know they ran out of the entrée that they ordered. At this point we were so frustrated everyone offered to split their meals just so we wouldn't have to wait here any longer. Then, magically, when the entrees were coming out (we had been here for one hour and 56 minutes at this point) the dish they said they didn't have just appeared on the table. The steak I ordered had to be sent back along with the long curly black hair that came with it. Extremely disappointed after waiting just under 2 hours to even take a bite. We requested to speak with a manager and instead of accepting that they had dropped the ball at basically every stage of service we were met with resistance and an unwillingness to accept any accountability. After going back and forth they finally brought us a bill with a discount that didn't even cover the cost of the steak with a hair in it. A truly pathetic attempt at recovery. I will never go back to DC steak and will make sure to talk anyone I know out of it, I've never felt more compelled to leave a review in my life. I would give this restaurant 0 stars if I could. We booked an 8pm dinner reservation for 9 people on a Saturday evening to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. We arrived and were seated promptly at 8pm. Drink orders were taken and that was about the end of the enjoyable experience. The cocktails that had been served were watered down and unenjoyable. We ordered appetizers for the table and waited about 30 minutes before our one serving of cheese curds and one serving of calamari were served. Our servers waited to take our dinner orders until AFTER they delivered our appetizers. At this point, it had been 50 minutes into our dining experience before ordering entrees. About 54 minutes after ordering, one of the servers approaches me to inform me that they ran out of salmon and asked if I'd like to order something different. At this point, we were supposed to meet some friends at a bar nearby in 6 minutes (we would've never anticipated that dinner would take longer than 2 hours). I didn't want to hold up the table by placing a new order. Luckily, other people at the table offered to split their meals with me. 2 minutes later, the entrees were delivered to the table. Much to my surprise, I was served a salmon after all. By this point, it was 9:56 pm. We were famished and dug in, but my boyfriend noticed a long black hair in his steak. We hollered for a server so they could fix the steak, and I asked to speak with the manager. While waiting, I began eating my salmon and was immediately disappointed. It was way over cooked and didn't taste fresh off the stove. This seemed to be how 7 of the 9 entrees were received. Cooked poorly, but we were all so hungry, we would eat grass at that point! And, we never received one the side dishes we ordered. I waited way too long to finally be greeted by the manager. When I calmly explained the snowball affect of events, I was met with snarky remarks and combative behavior. Ultimately, she took the bill and removed $50 off of a $785 bill (this didn't even cover the steak entree that had a hair in it). I was insulted. I asked to speak to HER manager. He, too, was very combative. I explained that I honestly would've expected them to at least take care of 20% of the bill. After some more combativeness, he took the bill and when the server brought the bill back, he had only removed 17% and didn't even remove the side item that was never delivered. The guest service here was just absolutely unacceptable from start to finish. I'm still disappointed that neither manager we spoke with took ownership and apologized. Save your money and your time. We went to DC Steak House to celebrate Christmas and my husband's birthday. It was a very busy night but we had the best server, April! She was so sweet and on top of everything! Our party was a decent size of 7 and she handled everyone's needs superbly! The crazy thing is she told us it was her first night working there!!! She's definitely a great addition to their team! Started out a long wait we were told after we were half way seated. Our kids weren't welcome, something that wasn't mentioned when the reservation were made. we had reservations for outside tables where the baby would have been fine, they gave our outside seats to some one else. the service or lack of .I have met more professional and caring from the hot dog vender outside home depot. also the food from the hot dog vender is warmer. My 30.00 top sirloin steak was colder then the warm salad,the bread was still frozen but the butter was warm. one person in our group didn't get her steak until the rest of us were done. she is the only one who would have a warm meal that night because she would warm it up at home. The best part of our meal was the mint at the hostess station. Let me explain. Our bread and butter was served but not warmed. I like warm bread. We were tolf that hte restuarant does not warm the bread.Next we had our salad. It was a spring mix that was very bitter. On to the main course. I ordered a $51 rib eye steak. It was no better than a $19.95 steak from your local diner. In fact the diner might be better. My wife had walleye fish.Very bland and tasteless.. No desert for us. When our check was presented, there is a charge for use of a credit card and they did not even know how I was paying. All in all, very disappointing. Like I said the mint from the hostess stand was the highlight of the meal. Oh yes I forgot, my wife asked for a straw for her water. Wouldn't come back here without a Groupon. If you're going to pay that much, you might as well go to Capital Grille or Fleming's. Came here because of a Groupon. Got the calamari appetizer. It was decent, but I've had better. Shared the 20 oz porterhouse with baked potato and steamed veggies. (fyi: they charge $4 for a split plate) We ordered the steak medium rare, but it came out closer to medium -- I think this was because the servers neglected to bring it to our table when it was ready; we saw it sitting under the warming lamps for quite a while. Paid a visit to DC Steakhouse on Fathers Day. I was very excited. The calamari was very good, the salad, the Italian dressing with feta was delicious. I ordered the bone in ribeye. The steak was cooked perfectly and came with 4 small mushrooms. Price wise, the regular ribeye is a much better value. My wife insisted I order the large lobster tail. It came out and immediately thought, who puts paprika on a lobster tail? Recommendation, skip the paprika and serve it with a little drawn garlic butter. I'm not sure why mediocre food is so acceptable or has everyone just settled for low quality. 3 of us went in expecting at least a good steak sadly no one got one. I ordered mine cajun style, thinking I wanted a little more flavor and typically this is seasoned what I got was an oil dipped chard piece of meat. I only realized it was soaked in oil after I picked it up to look at the other side of the steak and it was still sitting in oil. I would have been happy if it was actually grease from the meat but this was cooking oil they used to create the burn or chard effect. So I got burnt grill oil not seasoning or a spice rub chard. I had at least 4 mouthfuls of gristle I had to spit out. As I looked around the restaurant I was wondering how can these people accept this quality of meat from a steak house? Maybe they have never had a good steak or eaten at a place that serves a better selection of meat and its prepared and cooked by chefs that know the best methods to get results. "Management thinks this place is a high class 5 star joint. They moved a to a new space, yet the food and service is horrible. We've been there numerous times and support local when we come into town every few months, but this time we were embarrassed and asked to leave because our friend had a tank top on in 115 degree weather...note to the owner, you ain't Peter Lugers outta NY or even Capital Grille, your bartender is a magician, the feel is like a carnival, oh and your meat is most definitely frozen! I absolutely love this place. They have a small place to eat outside, there are heaters during the winter time. The food is delicious. The king crab legs are already cut for you, and they bring butter out with a warmer, which is always great! The steaks were cooked to perfection and seasoned very well, they also came with sauteed mushrooms, which was a nice touch. They are moving shortly to a larger place, just a few feet away. I will miss this location, but who knows, maybe the new location will be even more magical. read more

We went to DC for an early dinner on Friday. Our first time there. The ambiance was nice. The server was attentive (for a while) and the food was tasty. However, everything wasn't perfect. The fully loaded fixings for the baked potato was served in little bowl, this was a nice thought. The bread was a huge slice and served cold, not good. The filet mignon was a 5 oz serving, all other steak houses serve a 6 oz portion. So far the dining experience was just so-so. The bill came and I paid with a credit card as most would do. This is where things went south. The server returned with my card and a receipt to sign. The pen he furnished did not work. But, the worst thing was the ink inside the pen was on the outside. I got black all over my hand and fingers. The server never came back. He was a ghost. I didn't want to touch anything with ink on my hands. Members in our party had to go find alcohol wipes and a pen that would write. The server should have came back, I waited 5 minutes for him. Too bad for him as his tip was reduced by 50%. I don't think the drive to Chandler was worth it as we have many nice steakhouses in Gilbert with on site parking. We might go back as this is a highly rated restaurant. read more

Came here for Valentines Day tonight and ordered a ribeye cooked medium. The steak that came out was tougher than a piece of beef jerky...I've honestly never been served a steak so over cooked. I showed the server and he offered to have it recooked. After 20 minutes and everyone had already finished their meals except for me it finally came out. I told him I was no longer interest in having it since it took so long. He offered to box it up and I said I don't really want it but sure...figuring it was already comped off the bill why throw it in the trash. Sure enough I was still charged for it...what am I going to heat up $50 steak in the microwave tomorrow? I worked in the service industry for a decade and can't believe this wasn't taken off the bill. I kindly tipped 15% instead of my usually 25% but I will never be going back here because of it. Slow and poor service. We had a party of 12 with 2 waitresses and stated when we came in we would like couples tickets. After dinner they brought 1 bill- we put in 6 credit cards and they said they couldn't do that only 1-2 credit cards. A mess among us since some had steaks and some had lighter meals, and 1/2 the people that ordered steaks had to send them back from being overcooked! Very overpriced. The salad was like something from ihop, baked potato overdone. Filet was good, but everything else just fair. Poor if you consider that DC Steakhouse calls themselves "upscale". They added a 4% charge because I used a credit card. The server lied and said it was the credit card company charging the business. Who doesn't use a credit card anymore? Went to the DC twice this last week while visiting. Both times I went in late for dinner and had the Filet Mignon - wow! It was terrific! I ordered it a tad over medium and it came out perfectly cooked. It was so tender and delicious...my mouth is watering right now thinking about it! And what a value.. any steakhouse you go, to you pay well over $35 for the meat alone and get ala carted to death - not here! The steak was priced in the $20s and included a soup or salad, as well as a side dish! Oh and mushrooms! Mushrooms alone can cost you $9 at other steakhouses. ( Just went to another steakhouses website and priced out my meal...at those "high end chains" my meal would have cost $52! ) I just love the atmosphere! The dark lighting makes it feel so intimate and the murals on the wall are beautiful! Another plus - its family owned and operated! Hate giving my money to all the big chains! I took my family here for a pre Thanksgiving family dinner it was 6 of us. The waitress was very slow took her 20min to bring us our drinks then another 20 before she even took our appetizer order. Literally brought us bread and butter when our food was coming out. We didn't get our 2nd drink until we was almost finished with our dinner. Nobody was happy with there food and my son actually got sick later that night from his burger being not cooked well done. I definitely will not be going back to this restaurant read more
