We ordered shrimp Diablo and spring rolls for apps. Got the shrimp Diablo appetizer after our entree was delivered. They tasted and appeared to have been made at least day before and were barely warm by the time they got to our table so not sure why it took so long. Bacon and shrimp were tough. Gumbo was ok and it too was barely warm. The mango sweet rice was tasty. This was Sunday morning so may go back to give lunch a try and see if those are better prepared. I wouldn't have expected it but Deckhand serves a fusion type of menu - a cross between Thai and Cajun. It seems like most people come here for the crawfish and beer which looks equally tasty if you get a good batch. My family and I ordered more of the fusion items like the Tom Yum Noodle Soup (which was huge and had plenty of protein!), Papaya Salad (spicy & non-spicy), grilled oysters, etouffee, and popcorn shrimp. Very disappointed. I WAS excited to try their new spot. I hyped it to my friends & convinced them to go. We got there on a Tuesday evening at 7pm & was told they are no longer seating purple. No waitlist or wait time just no longer seating. They close at 9pm. The location is easy to spot once you turn into the lot. There's a private lot where you can park. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. The inside of the bar has plenty of tables, most of them can seat 4-6 people. Upon entering the establishment, you'll be greeted at the front. Some of the other reviews have talked about the long wait. I went on a Saturday around 11:30 and was seated immediately. I'd definitely recommend going outside of peak hours as the long wait seemed to be most folks' primary complaint about this spot. The food was decent. We had the captain's platter and a salt & pepper plate with fish & calamari. Rounded off the meal with some pad thai and fried rice. So dry. They messed up on our papaya salad too. Way to spicy that it wasn't edible. They redid it and still not edible or to my taste. We had to wait a bit bc we had a huge party of gals. Our oyster was good but had 1 wasn't as fresh :/ that disappoints. What I did love is their salt pepper squid. I can eat 2 dishes of that please. Even their gumbo was good but not the best I have had. Hushpuppies were ok. Tomyum soup not the best I've had either. Their expensive Pandan cake was good but not worth $5. Tasted more sponge and vanilla cake than pandan but it's good just not all that. It's pretty tho. We got a slice of all their flavors. Pandan still best out of them all. The night we went there was a huge guy party and they were all drunk and loud next to us. We couldn't even hear ourselves talk lol I did think the whole oyster shell decor outside is cute. Loud during dinner time but food is excellent and quality of service is good. Some of my sons did not like (one doesn't like fish). They have a unique way of prepping calamari that I personally love. Their fish and shrimp are also uniquely prepared and delicious. They also have oysters. It's in the name of the restaurant, and they deliver! I had no idea there were so many kinds of oysters! Not being a fan myself, I really am unable to give a definitive opinion on their oyster quality, but the quantity and variety are amazing. My favorites are the calamari, shrimp and boar. I went to eat at Deckhand earlier today around lunch time and this was my second time here (the first time was years ago that I didn't really remember how it taste). But today, I got the Deckhand Garlic Shrimp (SO FREAKING GOOD!). The sauce, which is a sautéed Asian style garlic sauce (it's very sweet + kinda thick) was the best part. I didn't really care for the rice or the green beans it came with, but the broccoli was good! My dad got the Fried Catfish, which he always gets and he loves it. We got boudin (the JT) as a appetizer and it was so dang good I forgot to get a photo for the review lol outside of the food, we were greeted immediately upon entering and was able to get a seat immediately. It does get packed around lunch time but the food is delicious so that makes sense. Great service from the waitress as well. Now that they can sit more guest, it can take a bit to get some menu items, but overall, food and drinks are served with minimal wait times. Very busy on a Sunday morning! There's a variety of plates you can choose and we ordered almost everything. It was all pretty tasty, some of the appetizers weren't that great. We didn't like the cheese curds. But definitely get the calamari! It goes great with their fish sauce dipping that's displayed on the table. Service was really good and they were super nice. It took awhile for food to come out, probably 20-25 minutes. I ordered the catfish plate with the hush puppies. Hush puppies are good and crispy. The catfish was good too! Went on a vacay and came back hoping I could satisfy my oyster cravings.. and I sure did! The raw oysters here are soooo freaking fresh and that sauce they have here pairs very well with it. It did not disappoint me at all. So glad my boyfriend picked this spot to feed me lol. Also ordered the jalapeño bacon wrapped shrimp and it was good. The sausage boudin was okay, tasted better with the sauce deckhand offers. I also ordered something off the menu. I had asked for the pompano to be deep fried but with no batter, and Thai chili sauce on the side with some sticky rice.
