We've been going here since it was a smaller location just down the street. They've since moved into a larger, newly built building just on the frontage road. While it no longer has that intimate, dive oyster bar feel, the newer space is more open and comfortable. And the people and food make it just as fun! Sit at the bar on a Friday evening around happy hour and you'll have a great time! Their fried food is awesome rivaling even the best seafood restaurants, oysters are super tasty, and the Asian side of the menu is equally delicious. If you like spicy try their seafood noodle soup or Diablo shrimp. Just be forewarned, their prices are as high as any oyster bar, but not as steep as Pappadeaux's. I was in round rock for a NYE party at hanovers 2.0 on Monday December 31, 2018. We had to fill our bellies before having some fun. The restaurant is directly across from our hotel town place suite by Marriott, awesome! We were seated immediately and had the most beautiful and sweet waitress. She was also the bday girl!! The food was excellent and I love good seafood. They had this signature house sauce that would make you scream out loud and run a mile!! The food took a little longer to come out but was worth the wait. The seasoning was just right and the shrimp was fried to perfection. Really good raw oysters. I also ordered the Salmon Wrap which was a disappointment. It is raw salmon and cut veggies in a sauce that stomped all over the other ingredients. Super salty and just heavy handed for the dish. The tomato chunks that were 1/4 of a whole tomato were impossible to include in the wraps. We got the Deckhand Oysters (Cooked) - they were not worn $17. This is a picture of some of them. We ordered a dozen. They were dry and presentation was not appetizing. Oh well... it's not like we're in NOLA to have good oysters, right? ‍ Well the Captain's platter wasn't any better. We had to send back the fried catfish because the oil tasted burnt. Well we should've sent the whole platter back because we we started to eat the shrimp it was the same issue. The service was good, but the food was below average. Had not been to their new location. The place is well designed, spacious and keeps the vibes of the old location. A little bit of a hole in the wall, oyster bar/sports bar/family restaurant. I like it. The food, the la frontera oysters were awesome and the drunken sailor that I ordered was as good as usually. I felt the portions might be smaller but I guess that's a reflection f the homes. My wife ordered the seafood soup and we both felt it was not as good as it used to be. I lived in Austin for about four years and this was my go to spot to grab oysters. I would come here at least once a week with my girlfriends back when they had their old location before they expanded it. Unfortunately the level of service has dropped. My bartender with red hair looked as if she had been taking some pills or some other kind of drugs and completely forgot my order. I ordered the seafood gumbo which I always get. It is absolutely fantastic and something that has been consistent over the years here, however, our entrées came out extremely slow. I ordered a spring roll as an appetizer and the beach comber as an entree. My entree arrived about 20 minutes later. The oysters were great as expected however the shrimp was not deveined. This is a huge deal to me as I do not eat the vein of the shrimp. That's absolutely gross and I would think any establishment that serves seafood would know to remove these before serving them to customers. I did not make a great fuss about it and gladly I didn't get charged for the shrimp. Once I finished my entree I assumed my appetizer (shrimp spring rolls) was forgotten about. I was ready to check out at this point and someone ended up bringing the appetizer. Throughout this process our bartender came back to check on us maybe once. I understand this is a busy establishment but not taking care of your customers and doing things half assed is absolutely unacceptable. Once they brought out my spring rolls I let the person know that I did not want them anymore because I had ordered them along time ago as an appetizer. I could tell the owner got frustrated by this because I stated I would not come back to this establishment because of the service. I have supported this business for a long time and always intend to put my money into local businesses. unfortunately the way that this place is ran now with limited staff and a lack of attention to detail is forcing me to choose to spend my money elsewhere. Music is super loud - like a club. I think this is causing bartenders to miss order details. I'm giving 2 stars for gumbo was great and because I do like the owners a lot; they offered my spring rolls on the house after I informed them I would not be returning. You need to add more staff and ensure they are attentive to (long-time) customers. Even your hostesses are not very professional- I walked in and wasn't even greeted right away. I had to give a couple of confused looks before I was greeted. Please bring back the old deckhand where we had a cool, laid back dining experience and got to chat with owners. 4 stars but probably but 3 as you should never try to sell me fresh live crawfish when they are actually frozen (or just out of the fridge). If you don't want it to be noticed then cook them more so they do not come half cold in your plate (my crawfish claws meat was very cold...but I guess most people don't suck on claws). You could get a 4 stars otherwise because the place is nice, fun, alive and proposes the best seasoned crawfish I ever had! The perfume of the broth (I think they used cloves) was very unique. Make sure you get a "full option" crawfish with corn, sausages and mushrooms. I loved the ambiance, decoration, the staff, the local draft beers and the prices were more than reasonable. The baked oyster were nice, even though I'd not have used deep fried garlic on top, but it was tasty and fine. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun place to eat cajun / asian fusion food. read more

wow.. the crawfish here..is mouth watering delicious (most of the time)...butter, garlic, kaffir lime leaves, and lemongrass (I believe). The reason I can't give it 5 stars is because once the batch wasn't good.. I mean it came out warm and I found a bunch of dead ones. We told our waitress, but she didn't even offer to replace our 2 lbs. It was very disappointing. They have a decent tom yum soup and tom yum noodle soup. A place where I can get my two favorite things.. woo-hoo! Their fried platters are good as well. I was pleasantly surprised because I love fried catfish. Haven't had a bad order of catfish (like the fishy smell/taste). I think on slow days, you seat yourself, first come first serve. On the weekends, a hostess will seat you. Broccoli and carrots were super raw. Rice was OK. Garlic bread was good. FRIED CATFISH 2 filets $12.99- HUGE portion because it's actually 6 pieces (1 filet = 3 pieces). We prefer cornmeal batter, but this was still fried well and tasty. Fries and hush puppies were ok. SALMON WRAP $13.99- raw salmon salad w/ lettuce to wrap. Not an actual wrap. WORST CRAWFISH EVER! Only time in my life I have not finished a platter of crawfish. Ate about 2/3 and just couldn't do it anymore. TERRIBLE! Ordered extra spicy, and NOT SPICY AT ALL! This is NOT a real crawfish place, they came out in a bag! Real crawfish places don't do that. The only spice in the bag was garlic. THIS IS NOT CAJUN! Restaurant overall was just awful too. Very crowded, and cannot figure out why! Was a 40 minute wait on a sunday night for 6, some entrees came out before the appetizers. EVERYTHING WAS TERRIBLE! The crawfish were overcooked, the shrimp WAY overcooked, all the food was just awful. Terrible service too, very slow. And LOUD TERRIBLE MUSIC THE WHOLE TIME! Very good service ask for Sam! She was first to greet us, grab our orders, and checked back often. We didn't try any drinks we just had dinner. The boudin was really good just enough spice without overwhelming the pallet. The bacon wrapped boudin added a nice Smokey flavor so I highly recommend it. I had the fried shrimp poboy and no it's not a Nola poboy. There were only five or six shrimp but they were delicious with Remolude sauce. one evening we fancied raw oysters, gumbo, crawfish and cold brewskis. Took the toll and drove our asses 20 minutes to Deckhands baby. This place was semi poppin on a Sunday night. It's a fresh new building w outside seating. ouu wee. We might as well sat outside doe, it was miserably hot inside. We were all sweating. We ordered brewskies, oysters, crawdads & papaya salad. the papaya salad.. was really spicy , reeked of fish sauce, came w 4 big shrimps and little pieces of broken hardshell inedible crab... we LOVED it, it was delicious. The fishier the better. we ordered oysters but they were out of stock. crawfish was just ok. not finger licking good. Their beers are about a liter, ya know, like the ones they give you at Oktoberfest, in those big glass mugs, which is fine but since I didn't drink up fast enough & was having dinner in a sauna, my beer grew hot and well, condensation killed it. My server was really nice but I had to wave him down to get new cold Oktoberfest beers and ask him few questions. He said there's only one level crawfish ... found out later .. you can order how hot you want them. I asked why is there oysters on the new tables that just walked in. he said "oh, we just received shipment". we were only 20 mins of dining in, & it would have been nice for him to walk over to our table to inform us about the new oyster shipment that had just arrived. we didn't order anything else. We took crawfish to go and left. It was ridiculous. We wanted oysters but NEVER had the chance to order any. This place is our go-to for crawfish. We've been coming here once a week ever since crawfish season started this year. The crawfish are big and fresh with the right amount of seasoning and spice. We also love their seafood gumbo. Add in a little of that spicy sauce left on the table and it's perfect. The oysters here are fresh. We usually go for the Deckhand Oysters as we prefer the clean simple taste of oysters. Deckhand also have a variety of Thai food. I tried most of them and all are good. The wait could be 30-45 minutes during dinner time on weekends so come at 5pm to skip the line. read more

I go here about once a week, I always get a dozen on the half shell, and so.e kind of hot small dish. I always sit at the bar because the hostess stand is slow. It always takes awhile to get noticed at the bar unless you raise your voice, One bartender and the owner walked by me three times, looking at me each time, then moving on. I finally got my order in of a dozen oysters, iced tea and told them I would order something hot when I finished the oysters. The oysters came out quick as usual, the oyster shuckers they have are hard working guys so I always tip them separately. I ordered the Diablo Shrimp for a hot dish, when it came out I could have played ping pong with the shrimp, they were so rubbery, took one bite and pushed them away, totally inedible. I asked for the checked and pushed away the shrimp, and the owner asked me if I wanted them to go and I told him they like rubber, he walked away saying, "maybe you shouldn't come back", he at least took them off the bill, I tipped the oyster shuckers separately, and then decided I won't be back, the servers seem to walk around with a chip on the shoulders, which I can guess they get from the owner. There are other places with better service, they might cost a little more, but I don't mind paying extra for less hostility. read more

Came here on a whim on a busy Sunday night! We were a bit worried because of Sunday football, but the place wasn't too rowdy which we liked. We opted to sit outside which I recommend because inside was busier and warm. The service was slow but the waitress we had was very friendly and apologized for the wait.
