Hands down the best pizza place that I've ever eaten at!! My family and I ordered the Aloha Tony and the Prosciugula. I highly recommend both! This place rocks!!! The pizza is as good as any I've had. (And I've lived in Philly and New York) The staff is great and they've been there for as long as I can remember so no turnover even thru the pandemic. Del Mar Pizza, is hands-down the best pizza this side of the Mississippi and in my opinion it's better than any NY pizza I've had in Manhattan, too. Any New Yorker's reading this, don't hate it's just one West Coast girl's opinion. That being said, I've traveled all over the world and pizza is basically a food group for me, so I kind of know what I am talking about. But, Del Mar Pizza isn't just about their delicious pizza... try their buffalo chicken pizza (Pipe DOWN! if your a naysayer, you probably think you shouldn't put pineapple on pizza either) it's so tangy and delicious with just the tiniest kick of spice in the afterburn. And their salads are to die for too. I think they make their own salad dressings. I haven't confirmed this but they are so good there is no way that this dressing came out of a bottle. My favorite salad by far is the "Tossed" salad with the lemony Italian dressing, green olives as big as eyeballs and hardboiled eggs amidst the crunchy greens. I literally crave this salad. Yes, I just said a salad caused cravings! To top all of this deliciousness the people who work here are bomb, too! Everyone I've ever encountered are friendly, and willing to share a smile or offer their opinion on the Padres! ;) I also like that no one ever says I should think about varying my diet and try eating something else. This has been my go-to pizza place for over 20 years and this is my third review of the restaurant. I was disappointed on my recent visit. I was really looking forward to having pizza since it's been a while since I last visited . I ordered the 2 slices and a soft drink which usually was a "special". Not any more. I was surprised that my bill without tip came out to $13.70. The menu lists 2 slices and a drink at $11 now, but I was charged $12 and on top of that a surcharge of .60 was added also. That being said, I always enjoyed my pizza but this time it was dry and part of the crust was so hard, overcooked probably, that it was not edible. This is a very casual, unpretentious, walk up to the counter and order your food type restaurant with a few tables and a counter in addition to a patio with picnic tables. With Flippin Pizza now in town, yay, and they sell pizza by the slice also, which is delicious, along with a daily special of a drink and two slices for $8, that will now be my go-to pizza place. read more

We often come to Del Mar beach and check the local restaurants or pizzerias. This place was a delightful discovery for us. Pizza is really great and all other food is tasty. Nice seats outside, pleasant atmosphere. Dog's are welcome which is only plus for us since we have just recently adopted a puppy. We definitely will come more often to Del Mar Pizza!!! read more

Can't say enough good things about this place - fabulous pizza, convenient location and fantastic service. My mom and I ordered a specialty pizza and decided to do half-and-half. Prosciutto and arugula side was more than excellent. Thin crust, amazing flavor, fresh and very yummy. Actually I say the same about the Hawaiian side - it was my mom's favorite. Nice pie and a quick walk from Powerhouse Park at Del Mar Beach. Our Sandy kids gobbled up 3 pieces each and were recharged to keep playing in the waves and sand. I would've happily given 4 or 5 stars but they did not offer a dairy free cheese option which limited what we could eat. read more

On a weekend trip to the La Jolla area we were looking for good pizza that wouldn't break the bank. Found Del Mar Pizza on Yelp and went because of the good reviews. We got a slice + salad + drink for $8 and added a specialty slice for $4. Dinner for 2 people under $15 is alright by me! We had the vegetable pizza (mushrooms, onions, peppers, tomatoes) which had no red sauce but yummy ricotta cheese mixed with the mozzarella. SO good! The specialty pizza was pepperoni with jalapeños which was also good. The house salad was pretty basic, but it was fresh and just what we were looking for. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and helpful, while the girl delivering the food seemed put off to be working. Didn't bother us too much but she definitely could work on her people skills a bit. We enjoyed sitting outside and people watched while we ate our dinner. The brownies huge; I usually share it...sometimes I don't though :) This is a great place to go to for a snack after playing in the sun on the beach nearby. Many people walk in and eat in their swimsuits and flip flops! There are picnic tables outside which is great if you're with a large group...and there is a bar along the window if you're alone and don't want to sit at the table. Mighty disappointing. My roommates ordered a cheese pizza and a pepperoni/sausage/tomato/olive pizza and it reminded of something I'd get in my cafeteria back in college. Not HORRIBLE but not good. The thin "New York Style" crust was good, but that's where the goodness ended. There was a lack of sauce, the ingredients looked like they had been sitting out and were the opposite of fresh, and the overall taste was mediocre. Their pizza is tasty, crust is thin and crunchy, a joy! I consider them deserving of 3 stars for the mediocrity of the service and the less than good marinara on their overcooked pasta. The marinara (on their spaghetti) is terribly sugared down; actually cloying. I've also made the error of odering their lasagna; if you like your lasagna cheesy, luscious and delicious DON'T order it here. Do not even think of it.
