Delah is a coffee spot nestled in the heart of Oakland near the 19th Street BART station, walkable. They have individual servings of coffee and pots/carafes served on beautiful trays with sugar, tea light candles and a cup. Visually very appealing to the eye. I paired my carafe of Delah Mofowar, a blend of medium roast coffee, cardamom and cream, with a lotus cake and a chicken meat pie. The coffee was delicious, sugar on the side so you can adjust to your individual tastes but the coffee spoke for itself. I had the lotus cake which is very reminiscent of a tres leches cake but with less sugar, hints of spices and the lotus were subtle but noticeable, the chicken meat pie was okay, nothing to scream about and fell apart with every bite, it was similar to a minced meat with seasoning. The decor is absolutely beautiful, large paintings on the walls of hues of cream, browns and blacks with gold accent. An embossed ceiling in black, an array of various lamps, areas that had simple tables and an area with a large u shaped wall with pillows, fur, small tables for the coffee, decorative ethnic pieces in various places. The serving tray and coffee ensemble was glass and a bronze. Service was great. It's a walk up ordering, no table service but plenty of seating while you wait. Service was efficient and polite. Having never been there and not familiar with all of the foods, gentleman at counter was patient and kind in answering my questions. All in all an experience to be had, visually so pretty, service was great. Coffee was very good. 4, 4.5 if I could because I felt the food choices need some work in taste and presentation. I've been to the location in SF many times and decided to check this one out while I was in the area. Very cool to see how much they've expanded in such a short amount of time! There is metered street parking nearby (free on Saturdays). As we walked in, we noticed the intricate decor and ambiance - it's absolutely gorgeous and you're instantly transported. We stood in line for a bit (there was one guy taking and making the orders - assuming due to the holidays). We ordered our standard rose latte and rose milk cake. The rose milk cake was DELICIOUS - loved the flavors and pop of milk in each bite. The rose latte was alright; we couldn't taste the usual rose flavors but lovely presentation. I stopped in for coffee and to kill some time before an appointment and saw this place was highly recommended. I ordered a piece of caramel milk cake and an iced caramel macchiato. The coffee was strong and tasted great and was served in an aesthetically-pleasing glass mug. The cake was *delicious,* not too sweet with lots of caramel flavor. Service was very efficient and friendly. It was fairly busy when I was there (around noon on a Sunday), but they have several smaller tables and a connected bench area in the back, which is where I was able to grab a seat. It was actually quite cozy and several people were relaxing and using the free wifi. I really enjoyed Delah Coffee and I can see why it's so highly rated. read more

We wanted to try a new coffee shop before heading back home so we quickly found Delah Coffee on our search. It's a nice location and the place was so packed on a Sunday afternoon, must be popular! When I looked at the menu I was a bit stumped what to order. I'm not a fan of cardamom spice and it was in every single specialty drink! I decided to get an iced Delachai since normally I do enjoy chai lattes despite the spices in it. This one was like a chai on steroids though - spices x100! It was super fragrant. I wish it was colder and had more ice, I feel like the room temp really elevated that spice. No matter the flavor though I would expect my iced drink to be cold. My husband's Yemeni Latte was very good, less strong spice flavor and more coffee. I'm not sure what they put in this Yemeni Latte compared to a regular latte since there was no description but it was tasty! Although it was not entirely my cup of tea (no pun intended) I would still give the whole shop a great rating on decor and quick efficient service. If you love flavors like ginger and cardamom this is totally the place for you, but I can't knock them down points just because it's not my preference. read more

I love this place so much. Their desserts are incredible, and sometimes I'll come here after going out for dinner cause desserts from the restaurant just don't compare to Delah's. I've tried three milk cakes and all of their baklava. Their drinks aren't my favorite, that being said I do like my coffee and tea on the sweeter side. They have beautifully handcrafted artisan drinks but not for my personal flavor profile. That being said I've only tried the Rose Latte and Chai Latte. Maybe I'll try another drink sometime? Anyway the decoration in here is beautiful, it's super cozy and comfortable. It almost makes me feel like I'm on vacation. I love this spot! Try it if you haven't! Coffee is ok but I got hella coffee grounds in my cup when she poured it. I had to dump the first cup because there was too much grounds at the bottom. When I asked for toilet paper to use the bathroom I was ignored. They had me waiting for 10 minutes before I left. I felt like it's because I'm white. I asked multiple times for toilet paper. Got no help. Those women working today on December 25th are trash. They are slow and when you're not doing anything you had the time to get the toilet paper. read more

Heard a lot about this spot and finally came to check it out. Yemeni owned and they have a Yemeni touch on all their items. They have quite a few bakery items they sell. Their biscoff cheesecake was pretty decent. I opted for the Yemeni latte. I would highly recommend getting it hot rather than iced. It's similar to a chai style and so having those types of drinks that may have cardamom etc in it is ideal for warm drinks. The vibe inside was awesome. Plenty of tables and folks enjoying their items and also having conversations. Several folks also working from there. I went on a Friday at 4pm and was able to get a street meter spot directly outside. Service was attentive and fast. Would recommend you check them out! read more

I love to try new things and this Yemeni latte at this Yemeni coffee house was new to me! I was expecting this bright cafe filled with light, mostly seen from the Yelp pics however, it was a bit dark. I do want to highlight the scaffolding covering the front facade of the building, so that could be it. They have a full array of milk cakes, cheese cakes, Turkish delight and pastries. They did have borek which is this sheep's milk type savory pie (at least the Turkish variety is usually sheep's milk). I passed this time, but they looked legit. They have a full array of coffees. Your typical ones, but then so many with fun flavors from lavender to cardamom and more. I went with the Yemeni iced latte after the woman at the counter let me know it was full of spices like cardamom and cinnamon. She asked if I wanted it sweetened in which I said no, however, this was a real sweet drink. While not quite what I wanted, it was delicious. But asking for it unsweetened, it was filled with honey and potential added sugar. It was so flavorful and an absolute treat. This place is unique and serving up some delicious and not your average style coffee drinks. Not a super large space, but about 10 tables or so. I spent a good 5 minutes just admiring the decor and the atmosphere: spots to get some work done and spots to bring some friends over to catch up ane hang out. Service was great as well. I wasn't really sure what to order but the barista helped me pick my drink based on what I like, dislike, and types of coffee drinks I normally order at other coffee shops. I ended up ordering an iced delah rose latte and it was so good! It had some edible rose petals on top, great for a quick aesthetic picture. It wasn't too sweet and I really appreciated how you could actually taste the rose flavor balance well with the coffee. Came here with a friend and finally got to try this place out! I ordered the Yemeni latte and the bee bite pastry, and then couldn't help myself and ordered the iced rose latte. I had read the reviews and it sounded like the Yemeni latte was very sweet, so when asked, I told the barista that I wanted it unsweetened. Unsure how I felt about the latte, as it definitely had some distinct flavors but could have used a little sweetness. The bees knees was covered with honey, so the first bite was a little too sweet, so ask for light honey. Otherwise it was pretty good. The rose latte was a weird experience. The first sip was pretty tasty, but then it almost turned oddly chalky. My friend got the rose pastry, which was really good and a very nice mild (but delicious flavor). I would definitely come back to try some of the pastries and try some of the other coffee drinks. The only thing I didn't love was how loud the music would get off and on while we were there. The two most popular beverages are the Yemeni latte and the Rose latte, which did not disappoint! The pastries are typical cafe fare with a Yemeni twist. Prices are on the higher side, but worth it for the unique experience. The cafe gets very busy, so make sure to come early and stake out your seat. Staff can get overwhelmed, so exercise patience. I don't drink coffee, but tea is what I enjoy. I visit my credit union at least twice a month. When they finally opened for business, I was not able to make a mad dash into Delah Coffee to check them out after exiting the credit union. My husband would be waiting impatiently, in hurry to get home to Alameda. Earlier this afternoon I finally had about five minutes to ease on into Delah Coffee. The ambience is trendy, modern and quite comfortable. Tables and chairs are next to the window. Although it is not as spacious as some of the chain coffee shops (Starbucks, Peet's), still Delah can hold its own. Laminated menus are on the counter and the menu board is mounted on wall. Specialties: assorted hot and cold beverages (expresso bar, coffee, teas, smoothies), pastries (croissant, muffins, cakes, baklava, cheesecake). Eats on the run (to go): butter croissant, pistachio mint flavored cake; Yemeni tea (black tea boiled with cardamon and cloves). They serve green tea, but I wanted to try something different. The tea was on point - mellow, not overpowering, nice aroma of cardamon and cloves. Prices are reasonable, and I must admit their pastries/baked goods are a better selection than what I see at this certain big chain coffee shop, which is based out of Seattle. SB, move out the way, for there is a new coffee shop in the 'hood of Uptown Oakland. Customer service is excellent. Gentleman at the front handling the cashier duty gave me a discount for paying my purchase in cash. Employees aiming to please the customers. Nice addition to the neighborhood. Delah is such a fantastic addition to the Oakland community. This Yemeni coffee shop offers a wide selection of desserts, pastries, as well as some comforting cups of coffee. I've spent $8 on a cup of coffee before but let me tell you.. sometimes the drink looks nicer than how it tastes. This is not the case. The rose latte comes out beautifully presented topped with a thick, creamy foam. The coffee is strong with a chicory flavor and lightly sweetened. The bee bites are such a unique treat. Its like a bagel bite- airy, crispy, with a tasty cream cheese filling. Lightly kissed with some EBTB seasoning and a drizzle of honey, each bite has that balance of sweet and savory. Its perfect served warm and goes great with coffee. Its delicious but enjoy it before it gets soggy from the honey. Biscoff cheesecake was one of the better cheesecakes I've had from a cafe. The biscoff topping was crumbly and complemented the cream cheese well without overly sweetening it. The cheesecake base was fabulous. The filling was sweet, creamy and rich. Service was friendly and more than willing to recommend some great options. Our food was served warm and it came out within 8-9 minutes. Food and drink quality here is superb. Came here twice on 2 different occasions. This review is for both visits consolidated into 1 review. The interior of this coffee shop is so unique, filled with middle eastern decor. I loved the wide array of colorful Turkey pastries, and although I didn't get to try any, I admired looking at them during both visits! Rose latte 5/5: One of the best rose lattes I've tried! If you don't like floral, this drink is not for you. I LOVE floral drinks like lavender and rose so this was amazing to my taste buds. I appreciated how apparent the rose flavor was without being too overpowering and they add real rose buds to the drink. The drink was overall very well-balanced with floral and coffee notes. Adeni Chai 4/5 (not pictured): I got a medium (the menu says small but the workers called it medium) to share with a friend. This pot is plenty enough for 3 people. By the end of it, both me and my friend were pretty wired off of the caffeinefrom this tea so if you're sensitive to caffeine, I'd suggest you be careful with the amount you drink. I'll start by saying that i LOVE chai drinks as well. The notes of the chai was subtle but enjoyable. They also include a side of sugar for you to add to sweeten your drink if you want it sweeter. Loved that you could customize the drink to your liking. Overall, I enjoyed it but I think my preference for Chai is with milk as a latte and they don't have that on the menu. This is a good coffee place to catch up and just enjoy a cup of coffee or tea. I'm not sure if this is a good place to study as it could get loud. I also thought the drinks were quite pricey as well. We came on Sunday to finally try out Delah cafe. I have been meaning to try this place for ages, but something always comes up. We got A Saani coffee, a gahwah, a saffron milk cake and the beehive. The coffee was delicious, the gahwah was like water with ginger and cardamom ( I think), the milk cake was very wet and the beehive was very unique. Overall, we really liked the experience. But I do wish more people worked here and that they could have better advised on what things were. We spent a lot of time waiting around and googling things in order to make a decision. read more

I've been to spot so many times, I think it's time to drop a review. I've tried to 3 different flavors of the cake with milk and by far rose has been my favorite. During the day from opening to about 5:30/6:00pm it's a good work spot and around dinner time to closing it becomes a bustling social spot. Drinks I've tried have been the iced delachai, delay mofawar, and rose latte. The iced delachai is a nice Milkie tea with spices. The delay mofawar was served as a warm coffee with milk and had a nice cardamom taste. Those two drinks taste simple with a nice twist of an aftertaste :) the rose latte is one of they're top sellers and taste great if you're not too spices in your drinks. I really want to like this place. It's a sweet spot with amazing Turkish delights (which highly recommend the variety) but every time I go there are full tables of people on laptops - no one eating or drinking from the cafe itself (or at least the drink/food is long gone) so there's no where to sit for a minute to drink/eat with a friend. There have now been 2 times I've gone in a single day (mid morning and mid afternoon) only to find the same people occupying tables with laptops (4 hours apart is a long time to just sit at a cafe shop and hog limited space) if they start limiting laptop use it would make it a better ambiance. In terms of drinks- cold drinks have all been amazing. I tried the rose latte this last time and it was disgusting. literally not a hint of rose it was just burnt coffee (it was decaf) the chai- amazing! All in all a mixed bag if you're looking for a place to sit for hours on end and work on stuff - this seems like a good spot. If you're planning on just meeting someone for coffee/a short visit- look elsewhere. read more
