Tasty sandwiches and great customer service! Went there for lunch with my friend and 9 month old. I ordered the Boise cheese steak and she got the turkey over Italy. Both were very good. The pesto on the turkey over Italy is amazing! The owner also brought over some complimentary sliced cheese and turkey for my infant which was very thoughtful and well received! Today was my first time in this local sandwich shop; I have heard great things about it. I was drawn in today by their free sandwich for veterans which I really appreciate. I had heard they had really good sandwiches especially their smoked meats. So I decided to try the Cowabunga which is their in house smoked pastrami with provolone and creamy horseradish on a lightly toasted hoagie roll. I guess the first thing I noticed when I walked in was they only had one cashier working despite 2 registers. The other gal was sitting in front of the register on a stool I guess she was the manager they were two customers in front of me and I was just kind of looking at her even moved in her line of sight she didn't respond. It's still close to the lunch hour so I would think that they would have two cash registers open. Later she told the next customer after me that she was replying to a customer email; I guess it was something funny because she asked the customer to read it to and he laughed. Anyway it just seems like that could be something that could be done outside of non-lunch hours. Other than that the sandwich came out superquick the smoked meat was was moist had great flavor, provolone/horseradish blended well together and overall it was a great sandwich. I'd say this is one of the better smoked pastrami sandwiches I have had outside of On The Roll Deli in eagle. They have a pretty large selection when it comes to sandwiches so there are definitely lots of other sandwiches to try on my next trip in. They also have a lot of fresh baked goodies they have out tempting you are as you make your way to the cash register. Like I said this is a great place to grab a quick sandwich for lunch it definitely won't be waiting long for the food I don't know about the ordering like I said today was a little crazy. So so good!!! The pastrami was awesome and my kiddos were able to chose their own creation of turkey and cheese! Their plates came with carrots and apple slices and ranch in the shape of a smile! The chips are super yummy and crunchy and the atmosphere is so personal! The owners are present and actually are the ones to serve you! After our meal was done (i think she may have been the owner) came over and gave my kiddos a treat from the treasure box! Such a great first experience. We will be back! read more

I have been born and raised in Boise and not once had I ever stopped at Deli George. I've driven by it countless times since high school and now at 32 that came to a glorious end. I went in with my daughter and wife and had a New York, New York. The pastrami was spot on and mustard was amazing. We were all then surprised with two complimentary, giant, warm, and quite possibly most perfect chocolate chip cookie my tastebuds have had the pleasure of tasting. So far the only place in the area, I have found, that serves REAL pastrami from the brisket. Not a round or sirloin. Hot pastrami! There's nothing like the real thing. and they do it well here. I just moved back to the Boise area and this place is one of my favorites. I've always thought that mastering a good deli sandwich is an art. These people are artists. My first time in. Was not impressed. The pluses were that: The food came quickly, even though the place was packed. The staff was friendly. It seemed clean enough. The minuses were: My Cubano was stone cold. I mean ice box cold. Cheese not melted meat straight out of the fridge. The bread was crispy though and it made me wonder if it has been toasted hours earlier or what but it was quite a shock. There did not appear to be any sides except a plastic wrapped cookie and bags of chips. Even Fred Meyer has a selection of slaw, potato salad etc. The chicken sandwich menu was difficult to read due to the chicken picture background. Maybe they were just having a bad day. I'll probably try it again but they've got to so better than Fred Meyer to make me a regular. read more

I found this place on accident and it now is a regular place for me to enjoy a great lunch. I get the Turkey Bacon Avacado sandwich... SO GOOD ($9/$5). They give you a great portion of avacado and how they cook the bacon is to die for. Their pasta salads and deserts are amazing as well. The sandwiches are fantastic! The only reason I give it 3 stars is because of the service. It's kind of hit or miss. Often times its just fine, with friendly helpful staff, but on at least 2 occasions I came in and waited for service because the staff were too busy arguing with each other. They even dropped some curse words and ignored me while I stood there at the counter. If you disagree about something, work it out in the back. Customers shouldn't be made to wait and have to listen to you arguing and cursing. read more

Wish I could give 10 stars. Visited with family in Boise this week and it was suggested by a friend of my daughter. We went here on last day visiting (Friday, April 1st). Everyone with me loved their sandwiches. It's about $1 more than your local Subway. . . . .but Subway doesn't even come close to the selection and QUALITY of these sandwiches.
