Greek restaurant. Large space off 47th St. The seats were tight, tables too small and knocking knees with my dining colleagues and vendor across the way. not comfortable. Came here for lunch with brokers. Food a bit of a hit & miss. There are five at the table, and if you recommend getting the lamb chops, either bring 5, or offer to expand the 4 to 5... awkward conversations on who should split/share/take. Pikilia mix of 5 spreads was ok, but the flatbread was too hard; softer pita would've been better. And out of it before finishing the spreads and they took them away too fast. Greek salad was good, fresh bread was good (butter too hard to use), olive oil would've been easier than the hard butter. Grilled octopus wasn't flavorful and cut into too small bits - more olive oil needed and sea salt. Couscous was good. Potatoes lacked much flavor as a side to the lamb chops. Chicken was probably the best dish, flavor-wise and easy to cut. The fish - burned along a good part, overcooked, lots of bones and by the pound market price, sour lemon (not just tangy) left me wanting something different. Overall so-so Greek. I don't usually write reviews but Delos is without a doubt the best Greek food in New York City! Everything was outstanding, from the food to the ambiance to the service! Our server was very Greek, but knowledgeable and accommodating. He walked us through every step, assuring we were always pleased. The place was very busy, yet their execution was prompt and timely. The decor features a picturesque environment, heavy on blue and white, feeling like Greece itself. The manager Nicholas is a treasure! I've never been to an establishment with a manager so keen and particular with every detail, assuring we were kept happy. He checked on us consistently, interacted with us, and even made us laugh. Such a well mannered and polite person! We will definitely be back! read more

The restaurant was very nice with white tablecloths. Delicious complementary bread, but it was not PITA The waitress was extremely nice and helpful. We had the pre-Theatre dinner 39.95. The cheese pie was good and so was the shrimp dish? We also had the Greek salad I must say it was delicious but putting fish or that was a joke. A couple little pieces of fish overcooked. I came here for a birthday dinner with a group of 6 people on a Tuesday night. The place seemed new. They actually have a pre or post theater prix fixe meal (2 courses) at 3-7pm for $39.95 which is not a bad deal for midtown. I ordered the tyropita appetizer (kataifi cheese pie with fig jam) and the moussakas entree (layers of cheese, eggplant, beef, potatoes). The tyropita was a dish I haven't seen at other Greek restaurants so I was excited to try. It was delicious along with the moussakas. The grilled calamari and the shrimp orzo were good as well. Excellent Greek Restaurant that just opened a couple weeks ago. A taste of Greece in the heart of New York City. Welcoming vibe, beautiful decor, and impeccable service. The cocktails were refreshing and well balanced. My friend and I had the assortment of all five spreads, my favorites were the tzatziki and fava spread. The sea bream carpaccio and beet salad is a must have. The whole grilled branzino was also very tasty. For dessert, we had the chocolate pie and kataifi and both were incredible. Everything was exceptional. From the moment you check in til you leave the staff were very accommodating. I look forward to coming back to try everything else. read more

Look at Delos' website, go over the menu, check out a few photos, and it won't take you long to figure out that this will be a refined dining experience. The question you must ask yourself is whether you're up for it. This is, after all, the heart of midtown Manhattan, and if a casual place is more your lane, Delos could be a bit of a challenge. I say go for it. Keep your eye on the prize -- the finest Greek cuisine you will experience in this lifetime. But be prepared for what you may need to navigate to get there. Entering the bright, impeccably appointed dining area, I tried my best not to be intimidated, and was feeling pretty confident. And then I met our waiter. Within a few, preliminary interactions, I got the distinct impression that my dining partner and I didn't quite suit him. There was an impatience just short of hostility. Well, perhaps not that bad -- but he did nothing to dispell the duck-out-of-water discomfort I was tying to suppress. Though the place was next to empty when I arrived, it quickly filled with other diners -- so you should be clear, you will not get in without a reservation. There was no turning back. And after the initial awkwardness of ordering, we settled into a more relaxed rhythm. The wine helped. A lot. A white, Grecian elixir that invited me to calm down and make myself at home. After what I was expecting to pay, that seemed like a good idea. So, now, then, oh my God, the food. Our appetizers included a beet salad -- robust, un-diced beets in chunks that filled my mouth with pickled flavor -- and a cheese "pie" so crispy, a light texture, zingy jam. Both of our entrees were risotto-bssed -- his a mushroom, and mine a beef-infused version so intensely marinated, I have seldom tasted any thing so delicious. With two deserts, less than $200. The Hitapodi (octopus) was absolutely outstanding -- perfectly grilled with a smoky char on the outside while remaining incredibly tender and succulent inside, easily the best octopus I have had to date. I'm not normally someone who writes reviews but I thought I'd share this as feedback because the experience genuinely caught us off guard. The food itself was good, but the experience with the market price fish honestly left a bad taste. Our server told us it was around $60/lb and when we specifically asked for a small fish, he assured us he'd bring the smallest one available. However, the fish was already on the grill before he ever disclosed the actual weight/price, which turned out to be 2.5 lbs. When we expressed hesitation and tried to cancel the order after hearing the weight (this couldn't have been more than 2-3 minutes after ordering), there was a lot of pushback from the server, who snapped that it couldn't be canceled because it was already cooking. We were also reassured that we "hadn't ordered that much food" and that it "wouldn't be too much," despite the fact that we had already ordered multiple dishes for the table. To make matters worse, the fish turned out to be the least enjoyable dish we ordered. Everyone at the table agreed it was dry and disappointing, and at approximately $150 it felt significantly overpriced. We ended up leaving with a lot of leftovers because it was far more food than we wanted. Again, the food was generally good but the lack of transparency and pressure around the order process felt pretty misleading. A simple confirmation of the fish weight and estimated total before cooking would've made a huge difference. Unfortunately, the overall interaction left a pretty bad taste in my mouth and I'm not sure I'd return. read more

Dinner tonight for 4 at Delos was absolutely delicious. Greek cuisine is one of my favorites and I eat it a lot. Delos did not disappoint. The restaurant is bright and cheerful, and the welcoming atmosphere is immediately apparent. The service was first class. Alex attended to our every need without being overbearing. We ate family style. Started with 2 spreads, grilled calamari, and Greek salad. All were tasty without being too spicy. We shared a large pink snapper, grilled and topped with a lemon and olive oil sauce, and fingerling potatoes. Fish was perfectly cooked, fresh, and simple. Gelato made a perfect ending to a filling summer meal. All accompanied by a tasty Sicilian white wine. If you are in midtown--or even if you aren't--Delos is definitely worth a try. We recently went to Delos to try out a new Greek restaurant. As a Greek - American, my His father owned a Greek diner in Southampton so I'm very familiar with Greek food as well as all the peculiarities of restauranta. I was devastatingly disappointed with the experience at Delos. Our table was right in front of the bathrooms, which were near the kitchen. During our meal, I started smelling a very I smelled a specific odor that I remember from my Greek diner days- an odor from the dishwasher, strong and a terrible. this odor absolutely ruined my experience, eating pretty good Greek food. The cheese pie was tasty. The fava was sweet and warm and the fish despite not being very hot was enjoyable. On top of it all the lights were so bright it was distracting. So for the daughter of a diner owner please remove the smell that made the dinner so uncomfortable dim the lights and if you're cooking fish, make sure it comes out hot all this because I want you guys to succeed. read more

My brother took my sister & I there for dinner. It was not a great experience. For starters, the place was lit up like a cafeteria. The lighting was harsh & the ambiance was cold & sterile. Nothing about this place gave Greek. We were confused by the number of staff who never actually identified themselves as our waiter. One of the servers had dirty fingernails. Our food came at different times. The service was horrendous & the food wasn't much better. It was bland & unseasoned. The hostess had to intervene when we asked where my sister & my dinner orders were. When it finally came, it was underwhelming. The menu was just as confusing as the wait staff. The only bright light was the hostess, who was very gracious. If their aim was to deter repeat patronage, mission accomplished. read more

Dog unfriendly and Discriminating restaurant. Very disappointing experience. This restaurant refused entry to my trained service dog and improperly demanded documentation and "papers," which is not required under ADA law in the United States. Staff appeared completely uninformed about basic service animal regulations and handled the situation in an embarrassing and discriminatory way. Businesses serving the public should educate their employees on federal law and treat disabled customers with respect. read more
