Absolute worst. Keep reading! I had a flight from PDX to PHX with a connecting flight in SEA. They had no room on the flight for luggage, so they had me check my carryon. I asked the flight attendant, "can I get my carry on in SEA? I need to get my laptop." She said, "absolutely! You can get it at the sky bridge with your ticket once this plane lands." Then it's time to catch my connecting flight in Seattle and they overbooked the flight (per usual). I decide to stay in Seattle because I have business here.. so I ask them to go get the bag they promised me. Fiona at the counter was great and went to get my bag down down where they unload. She comes back and tells me I can pick up my bag at the baggage claim. So, I go to the baggage claim and find it in the company of the least friendly of all Delta employees. Finally, (I think) my bag and I are reunited! Not so fast. . . The lady at the counter proceeds to tell me they are not allowed to "short check" bags and I cannot collect my bag (even though it's sitting right in front of her) Naturally, she says this to me 2-3 times before I have to beg her to tell me what I have to do to get my bag back from her. She tells me to proceed to ticketing so I can buy a new ticket to Seattle and collect my bag there- or let them load it onto a different flight so they can send it to PHX... $&:@;@$!? When I get to ticketing, I explain my story for the 3rd time. She explains that she needs to call global before permitting my bag return. So she calls global and insists I pay a fee to collect my bag. 50 minutes later and some extra $$$ I have my damn carry on. Dear God. Had any of the employees explained (at any point during this process) that there may be an extra fee or a ridiculous process involved- I may not have been so fuming mad. But they didn't, nor did they have any compassion on my situation that was ultimately their problem. To be honest, I will go out of my way to never fly Delta again. read more

Every now and then I forget how amazing Southwest Airlines is and I book a flight with a different airline and I am quickly reminded why I like Southwest so much. This review is hard for me, I don't like writing negative reviews, read all of my reviews, mostly positive, rarely negative ..... but this has to be said. I could be wrong, just my opinion, but I honestly believe that unless your last name is Gates or Bezos (or if you are a movie star or famous athlete, etc.) that Delta Airlines hates you and has NO desire to even attempt BASIC customer service!!! I had a question at the check in counter, the agent was a total jerk who could not be bothered to help a customer. After getting through security I found a Delta agent and asked if there was an earlier flight to my destination and if there was a chance of getting on a standby list and this is what she said word for word, "in case you don't own a calendar, this is a holiday weekend, the flights are all booked." Worst airline ever! My sister and mom's seats were rearranged without them knowing then when they landed in Seattle they wanted to ask for directions and they were ignored by all employees. Going back to LA, we had requested a person that would escort them to their gate bc my mom speaks limited English; we get there and there are NO Spanish speakers available at all. They all looked Ethiopian and they laughed when they saw us approaching the wheelchair accessibility area bc they thought we were going to request a wheelchair. What kind of employees laugh at the customers? Grade A assholes. Then their flight was delayed THREE times and they landed two hours after the original time. Absolutely awful airline. We had a great experience, we were traveling from Las Vegas to Seattle on 9/26 on the 6:55pm flight and Kimberly took such good care of us, helping when we had a seating emergency with someone in our group and also just being so kind and all smiles! I had a family emergency and my husband decided to book my flight with Delta. He said he has friends who only fly with Delta and have nothing but good things to say about this airline. It was my first time flying with Delta and I was excited. I flew to and from Seattle to Salt Lake City, the staff was very friendly, looked professional and attentive. The aircraft was clean, the bathrooms were kept well. The seats were very comfortable, I was thrilled to see the selection of free movies and games available. I charged my phone while watching a movie. I did see the staff passing out headphones but I'm not sure if they had to be purchased or if they were free. I luckily always carry mine especially when traveling. I also of course had my soft blanket but they do have blankets and pillows also available for your comforting pleasure. On my way to Salt Lake City I had sprite and nuts, on my way back to Seattle I had mixed chips, water and Starbucks coffee. The flight was a smooth ride both ways, we arrived on time. My experience was great with Delta. I was entertained and the flight didn't seem long. I'm one who usually naps because I get motion sickness but I think I was too busy watching the movie that it made my trip pleasant. I will definitely fly with Delta again. I was very happy with their service and staff. I can't wait to fly one day on their Delta one or on an International first class flight. read more

so the bad: 40 minute delay on take off because the air crew was late coming in on another flight. 3 hours of the 3.5 hr had the seat belt light - do not move around the cabin because???? pilots said ATC mentioned turbulence. but it was a smooth flight except a minute or two. So, i think the pilots were new or forgot. Flight Attendants were nice (for the most part), but seem a little green. the back of the bus staffed stayed strapped in - even after passengers didnt. I don't understand why Delta has a bad reputation on here. First time flying on Delta, downloaded the app, which was really easy to navigate and it kept you in the loop often regarding when to check in- flights were on time etc etc. I didn't expect it to be a small plane and I only knew when I had to chose my seat. The best part? No middle seat! Like I said, it's very tiny, I'm 5'6 and I can't tell you how many times I hit my head lon the overhead. Leg room was a bit tighter...I think? but to be honest with you, I couldn't tell. I felt secured and safe- it didn't feel like those prop planes like Alaska puts me on from Seattle to PDX. Those planes feel like it's gonna fall apart in the air if it hits a fluffy cloud! Boarding was easy and fast. Tight overhead space so they might take your luggage vs you putting it in the over head bin. Flight cost were lower than Alaska and SW at the time and I'm happy I was able to venture out and receive a good impression! read more

Yesterday I had a flight from LAS to SEA and it felt like the longest 2hrs of my life because I was sitting behind not 1, but 2 crying kids. I sat in the last row which I didn't mind. The chairs reclined at a decent way and I was satisfied but I was squished in the middle. I guess there's a reason why the FC passengers pay an extra fee to be in FC! I was most satisfied with the entertainment because they had a variety of selections, most airlines don't have entertainment at all. 7.5/10. I would take Delta airlines again. read more

Well once again Delta falls below expectations even for an airline. Booked our tickets months ago for a direct flight PDX to NYC. Since then they've switched our flights multiple times to include a layover and now we're in Seattle and the next flight is delayed 7 hours, so we'll see if we make it out today. Easily the worst airline I've ever encountered. Sure, I get that people love to complain about airlines, but this one takes the cake. On March 2nd, I missed an early morning flight. I know this was my fault and took full responsibility. I called into delta immediately, and after being on hold for over 45 minutes (really?) the rep told me there were no flights out of SeaTac to Phoenix till 5:00PM. She would not give me or my friend a refund which I was okay with. I let her know I would have to book the soonest flight out with a different airline. On March 4th, I arrived to PHX for my return flight. My friend was able to get on her flight, but mine was cancelled. Delta claimed it is their policy to cancel any return flights if the outgoing flight is missed. First off, how come my friends flight was not cancelled if this is their policy? Second, why would nobody tell me this, especially when I called in on March 2nd? Is this not important information to share with someone?! Every person Delta that I spoke with was unhelpful and SO RUDE AND MEAN! Absolutely inexcusable that Delta would not offer me a flight back to Seattle even though I paid for it. I ended up booking a flight back to Seattle with Alaska after being put on standby by Delta for hours. The most unbelievable part of the situation is that Delta had open seats on the flight but refused to let me board because the flight was Business Class. My family of 5 flew Delta recently, and compared to our flight home with another airline, it was great! Flight attendants were very nice, forgetful, but nice. My family appreciated the free in flight movies and music. The complementary blanket, pillow and earbuds were a great touch. My only complaint is the seating, as a family of five it would have been nice to sit around them. Super un-impressed by the service at Delta Airlines! Honestly they are not our usual go to airline but me wife and I took a trip today from Phoenix to Vancouver BC today and had a short layover in Seattle. We booked directly with Delta so we thought all would be taken care of. Our flight from Phoenix arrived a little late in Seattle. The flight to Vancouver left at 5:38pm. Once we finally got off the plane from Phoenix (sat on the tarmac for a bit as our gate was not quite ready)..... we had to literally run from the A gates..... take a train to the C gates..... my watch showed almost 1 mile that we ran.... Got to the gate at 5:33pm (again 5:38 departure) and they said "sorry but the gate is closed and you are essentially hosed"..... they obviously Re sold out seats to stand by passengers..... and screwed us and our evening plans in the e meantime. Literally the gate agent never said sorry at all.... No sorry for the inconvenience! Really poor poor customer service! They had another flight to Vancouver at just before 10pm but it was full and could not even put us on standby since it was an "international" flight. The best they could do is an 11pm flight on Alaska Airlines. We took what we could get.... A 1-1.5 hour layover turned into a 5.5 hour layover! It screwed up our night with our good friends who happened to be in Vancouver that evening. Again.... No sorry at all for the inconvenience from Delta. They just said to call Delta customer service and take it up with them. Wow.... Super unprofessional and unimpressed with #Delta Airlines. They clearly don't really give a crap about their customers. Delta is probably my favorite American airline carrier. They never cease to impress me with their Southern hospitality, which can be felt throughout the nation...not just in the South! I didn't interact with too many Delta customer service reps at Sea-Tac, but the ones I interacted with were friendly, helpful, and very willing to help. I had a friend who was on a separate reservation, but I wanted to add her as my companion for an upgrade. I went up to a random gate and asked for assistance. The agent was very helpful and assisted me even though she wasn't managing my flight. All in all, I was very pleased with this gate agent's willingness to help me out. I would give Delta Airlines at Seattle a higher rating, but there were a few problems during my most recent flight experience through Seattle on Delta. First off, the customer service desk seemed to be empty...at least for the half hour to hour of time that I was there waiting for someone to help me. (This was what urged me to seek the assistance from a random gate agent, as mentioned before). When I asked other Delta employees if there was supposed to be someone at the customer service counter, they all responded, "Yes" and "I don't know where they went." Huh? Second, flights from Seattle also seem to be delayed...quite often. Probably not Delta's fault, but probably due to the seasons and forces of nature (rain, rain, rain!). My flight which was supposed to depart at 6PM didn't leave until a little after 8PM--arriving, 1 hour late overall. Coupled with the drive back home(and picking up the car from the lot and picking up baggage), I didn't get home until way past 12AM. Delta at Sea-Tac airport gets an overall 3 stars... good customer service (when there is someone at the counter/gate!) but with not-so-on-time departures. Will I still travel with Delta? You bet. I'm not trying to pile on here, but they are not very customer oriented as a business. On a business trip, the pilot had some sort of disconnect with the air traffic controllers and had to make an emergency pass while attempting to descend, which put us behind schedule. While aware that this would jeopardize all connecting flights, they made no attempt to have anyone available to schedule new flights for us. This delay was not weather related. We managed to land and we rushed off to see whether our connecting flight was still available. We did manage to board, only because this flight was also delayed. After another delay leaving the gate (30 minutes with absolutely no explanation), we queue up to get in line for take off. After another long delay, we finally get to be first in line and then pull off to the side. Now there are weather delays at our next destination. We sit on the tarmac for another hour plus. Finally, after 3 hours in the plane, we roll up to the gate, because it will be another 45 minutes for the next weather update. Once off the plane, we understand there is another Delta flight leaving for the same destination as ours. No explanation is given, nor is there any additional help to help with rebooking flights or attempts to get us on other carriers. The next flight out on Delta is the next day. With no hotel or confidence we will be able to catch another flight, we rent a car and drive several hours to our next destination. ... to arrive after midnight with an early business meeting that same morning. Oh yes, did I fail to mention that they lost the luggage of one my fellow business travelers? read more

How did you like sitting next to a 5-year-old boy screaming non-stop on your 10-hour flight from Seattle to Amsterdam? Me neither. Didn't like that. Well, let me re-phrase. How did you like sitting next to a 5-year-old boy screaming non-stop for approximately 7 hours on your 10-hour flight from Seattle to Amsterdam? I was not a fan. I understand screaming baby is NEVER airline's fault. Well, guess what. On my flight and on that particular day, the entertainment system was down. Yes, the entertainment system for passages sitting in the middle sections on the plane was completely down. Over 20 rows of passages were affected. Just before we took off, the pilot informed everyone that due to an error, they did not identify the issue in time enough to fix the system. The pilot was nice enough and encouraged passengers to write to Delta directly. He said enough complaints would generate more responsible pre-boarding checkups. Fortunately I had my phone with me to play music with after the boy started screaming non-stop. He sat right next to me and received lots of attention. His mom had to educate him to quiet and not interrupt other passengers. But the boy did not stop. His screaming got lots of attention from the flight attendant. Several flight attendants walked by to check on him and encouraged him to be more quiet. But what else can you do? Not so fortunately, my phone started running out of battery because it was a 10-hour flight. And I needed my phone as a map navigator once I landed in the new country. So I had to shut off my phone and listened to the scream. I don't think I have had a worse flight experience than that one. After the flight, several passengers came up to me specifically asking me if I was ok since I sat right next to the young boy. That was very nice of them! I wrote an email describing the situation and got a very nice response from Sam P. Peters, the Coordinator of Customer Care. He offered to add some bonus miles for my frequent flyer account. So in a sense, perhaps Delta does care about its customers. However, the equipment meltdown was just unacceptable and unthinkable for such a long flight. The employees are actually pretty friendly in Seatac, at least in my experience. The last time I flew with Delta, I was notified that the plane was over-booked and I might not have a seat. They were asking for passengers to volunteer to board a different plane. There was also a long waiting list on the screen. However, after everyone got boarded, there was one empty seat right in front of me. A staff noticed it right before the plane took off and tried to notify the staff on the ground. However, it was kind of late and the door was already almost shut. So I wonder if the plane was really overbooked or not. read more

Flew out of the Seattle Airport with my husband and our little girl dog via Delta Airlines on a Tuesday afternoon, catching the 2:55 pm plane back to Los Angeles (LAX). The terminal Delta Airlines is located at is quite a walk from TSA, so make sure to plan accordingly when flying out with Delta. There is a pretty mural where this airline is located and there is also a bar restaurant and a small convenient like store (to purchase newpaper. magazines, last minute souvenirs, snacks, etc). There are better eateries the terminal before and a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf too. I was notified by Delta the day I checked in on line that my flight from Seattle to LAX will be delayed by 5 minutes. However, on the day of, boarding was well after 2:55 pm (because the plane that arrived arrived late). Anyways, on this flight back home, I recognized one flight attendant from the first time I took Delta to Seattle. This flight attendant is friendly and all smiles, which made our flight pleasant. Drink service was quick and snacks we got on the plane was good (your choice of Biscoff cookies, peanuts, pretzels) and are given 2 bags of whatever you picked. After the beverage cart was done, shortly after, flight attendants came by offering cups of water in case anyone wanted some. Overall, this was a pleasant flight for the most part. But there was some turbulence but I still got back safe and in one piece (and our little girl dog was just fine). Have no problems with Delta Airlines so far so I will fly out with them again in the future. read more

Delta out of SeaTac was a rare experience. Generally, this is an Alaska/Virgin/SWA hop from Seattle and I am not really sure what caused me to book a multihop Delta to LAX flight which went through SLC. This gave me a chance to see Delta's South Terminal and newer SkyClub. The gates aren't nearly as busy as Alaska, so the service is more personalized. I was happy with a painless on-time, departure. read more

I'm amazed to see all the low rating for Delta, but then I realized that everyone who has a problem comes onto Yelp and has their cathartic release. Those people who are generally happy -- but not especially so don't take the time. So as a Diamond Medallion who has flown to Helsinki, London, Copenhagen, Sydney, Pearth, Melbourne, LA, SF, Portland and Seattle in the past six weeks, I have to say that my flights have nearly all been on time -- only the domestic ones in Australia on Virgin Australia -- were late and (knock wood) my baggage made it each time, actually off the plane first due to the priority status gives frequent fliers. Delta also put me on the TSA Precheck so now going through security in most cities is super fast. Delta upgrades me often. My biggest positive with Delta however is the culture of the people, from flight attendants to pilots to gate agents, I find them to be friendly and helpful. Obviously not every single one, but we all have off days. Most every time I travel, at least 75% of the Delta employees I interact with say "Thank you" for your business. This is an entrepreneurial aspect of a culture that seems amazing to me for such a large airline. read more

Delta is my favorite way to get to Japan from Seattle. I have only ever flown two airlines to Japan, United and Delta, and Delta is by far the superior of the two. I prefer to fly directly, and I think these are the only two that fly directly out of Sea-tac to both Haneda and Narita. Delta is one of the cheapest airlines for their economy plus/preferred/select (whatever) section. There's always a tv screen on the back of each seat, and lots of recent movies and shows for free. Economy plus gets free wine/beer/sake. There are plugs to insert either a usb cord or a regular US size plug, depending on the plane. Got a chance to sit in business class once, and it's hard to go back from that. Lie-flat seats, down blankets, slippers, socks, the whole nine-yards. Sigh, too bad it costs about 5-7 grand per round trip, could never afford it, but I can dream. read more

Airlines are a competitive business and I would understand if there were individual success and horror stories along the way, but last week Delta hit one out of the park and they deserve credit for it. Two of us were flying back from Seattle to San Jose with another airline when a simple misunderstanding led to a three-hour ordeal filled with "nothing-you-can-do" and "call this number, because there's no one here who can help you with that". After missing the flight we showed up 3-hours early for, we asked that airline if tickets could be purchased for the next day at a reasonable price and were told by a supervisor - I kid you not - $700 for any date from now for a month out. He wouldn't even listen to a colleague who told him there was a code that would allow him to do it differently. I was sincerely offended and simply walked away. Two sections over, an extremely patient and kind representative from Delta arranged a flight for us for the next day at half that price, ensured the seats were next to each other, gave us boarding passes so we'd be ready to go upon arrival, and had us on our way in 15-mins. I wish I could remember her name, but for what it's worth I know someone at Delta might read this and so I can make it easy on you. I remember that representative had only one arm. The flight was easy, took barely more than 90-mins (I think because it was a smaller plane), and had more legroom than I can remember anywhere else. While I have had many good experiences on Delta, I had one bad experience which taints everything. Our flight to Scotland unfortunately got delayed and as a result we had to be rebooked the next day. This was due to a ripple effect from the Air France strikes ( it seems like Air France is constantly striking and ruining people's vacations and lives therefore I will NEVER book with Air France and DO NOT RECOMMEND IT). We had to go to the special booking line. It was long and torturous because everyone's flight was screwed from something and had to be rebooked. What really pissed me off was that people were able to cut in line because they thought their booking issue was more important than everyone else's and Delta let them! Delta frontline customer service agents need some serious backbone in the special booking line if they are going to deal with disgruntled passengers. Allowing anxious people to cut in line is no way to handle it--it only encourages cutting in line and gets them a serious downgrade, it reflects poorly on our current society and the mentality that everyone gets whatever they want, whenever they want. I will still continue to fly Delta, especially International because I have flown many other airlines that are terrible (i.e. United, Air Canada) and this one is the least terrible. Delta seriously needs to be more accountable but I doubt this will happen any time soon, unfortunately. read more

I've been flying Delta now for over a month and have booked massive miles due to my job requirements.I have found in this amount of time I have gotten more perks than most airlines offer. IE American Airlines in which I also have accrued a massive amount of air miles. With Delta I have as I stated earlier received some perks i e today I was bumped up to First Class while also given Sky priority something American and has never done in my 6 months of being a member. So just a little something to think about folks when you make your airline choice. read more
