Absolutely delicious. We stopped at Demetris Restaurant while passing through Georgia and I am so glad I did. I ordered the pancakes and country ham and both were outstanding. The pancakes were perfectly fluffy with a classic homemade taste. You can tell they were made on a hot grill by someone who knows exactly what they are doing. The country ham was salty, smoky, and cooked just right. It was easily some of the best I have had anywhere in the South. The service was warm and down to earth, and the whole place has a true Southern comfort feel. If you are traveling through or live nearby, this is the kind of spot you want to support. We had no idea about this place but were near Covington Hwy so we stopped in for breakfast because it was close. They are small and very clean. They were packed but we grabbed the last available table. We had the pancake platter with added hash browns and a Western Omelet with a biscuit. Everything was seasoned and delicious. Yumminess overload and great customer service! Despite the wait that I had during the pre-lunch rush hour, I was accommodated with a complementary beverage and updates on timetable for my order. There are signs clearly posted regarding wait times, so no surprise and did not mind as I was getting car repairs done across the street. My mechanic at Crystal Auto Repair vouched for the food at Dametri's and he told no lies! My flounder sandwich with sides of green beans and french fries were prepared to order, which was reason for the wait. I would've liked a bit more seasoning on my fish and green beans, and may mention next time when I return. Dining area is a decent size as did not see anyone waiting for tables. Will say that there were several to go orders including mine, and we had a section allotted for the wait. The motif had lots of roosters in all forms, and there were menu posted inside and out. Specials were listed on board near order area. Also good amount of parking available. Demitri's offer lunch (& possibly dinner) options as well as all day breakfast. Everything I saw looked delicious, and will definitely be back to sample the other options. There were local and Marta police cars when I passed by en route to mechanic, and noticed a mix of patrons. We are in the area visiting. We are so glad that we found Demitris! We went on a Thursday and we were seated quickly. I had the French Toast with a side of cheese grits, which was scrumptious. My husband had smothered hash browns and a side of eggs. He liked it, but ended up ordering the French toast as well. We liked it so much we went back the next day as well. I got the pancakes and bacon. My husband got the veggie omelette and cheese grits. The portions are so big. So make sure you go when you are hungry. You will probably still take food home. Back in the day, Sunset on Glenwood was the go to spot in Decatur for old school southern breakfast. Now, the place to be is Demitris on Covington Highway cause they just don't miss! I have never had a single item of food not hit, and the portions are huge. I always need a to-go plate when I go on Saturdays. The omelette, the biscuits and gravy, the biscuit sandwich, the French toast all excellent dishes. And that was everything that I ordered with the hope to try more. This is a very quaint, cozy and by all means a hidden gem hole in the wall out here in Decatur. You can tell that they have a lot of community ties here because all the regulars who come in the restaurant know them by name. Big fan of the Demitris Restaurant!! I'm new to the neighborhood and getting acclimated to my surroundings. So I go to my trusted Yelp app and search for breakfast in my area and Demitris came in at 2 on the list. Being that it was my first time eating there (pre-COVID-19), I elected to dine-in. Had the fried chicken breast plate with two perfectly scrambled eggs (w/cheese) and grits; toast/biscuit is optional. The chicken was lightly seasoned/battered, and fried to perfection. Next time I will probably request a little extra seasoning. Grits were also spot on. Since my first visit I've also had the catfish plate and a few breakfast sandwiches. When I tell you I was pleasantly surprised...this place was exactly what I wanted! It was small yet quaint. It had all the basics...including homemade biscuits! Tasty breakfast, there is care seen on the interior but from the outside it looks a little grimy, like a truckers stop. You can tell it has a woman's touch (OG style). I got the flounder and eggs with grits and biscuits. Flounder had old bay seasoning, not too much and was fried properly. It was a nice piece of fish. The eggs, were good. The biscuits were light and real good. My only complaint was the grits, if there was any sort of dairy in it I didn't taste any. The grits weren't thin or runny, but they weren't creamy. I'd order something different, want to work my way through the menu. No five star because it didn't surprise me but it's good old school breakfast. read more
