I'm trying to be totally fair in my review. Demitris offers decent breakfast offerings at a reasonable price. Service was great. The food was good. However, I deducted 2 stars because I cannot honestly call myself a fan--and here is why. First, it's a really small diner, which is great. I love diners, but I expect diners to be more family friendly. When I was there, I got the sense that most of the customers are solo or with a plus one. There aren't many choices for seating. Also, when the meal is for one or two, the prices aren't bad, but when you add three kids plus drinks, and a tip, we're talking $50 for a modest breakfast. If you're by yourself or with a friend, and you like diner breakfast eats, by all means go. It just doesn't work as well with a family. Trying to be fair and honest in my review here. I'm not sure when this restaurant opened, but I've driven by it for many years without stopping. On a recommendation of a co-worker, I tried it yesterday for breakfast. It's a relatively normal American menu with omelettes and biscuits and burgers and the like. The owner seems to be a really gregarious fellow. He sits down and chats with anyone at their table. The server was also very nice. I wanted a biscuit sandwich, but through some miscommunication I had my sandwich delivered on bread. It was alright though, because I really liked the sandwich. My dining companion and I ordered nearly the entire breakfast side of the menu and it only came out to about 26 dollars. read more

So I googled breakfast restaurants near me and this place popped up,its small, local, near the free way and its GOOOOOD! I had a call in order but walked in the restaurant to order. When 1st off the restaurant is small, more like a diner. It had a nice neighborhood feel and it was busy even though I was there around 11 o'clock a.m.. The waitress did not even check on my order I had to ask her to do it. BRING BACK THE OLD COOK!!!!...I always love the food here but yesterday was a no go!. Me and my mom came in for breakfast. We instantly noticed that the usual waitress wasn't there. (She was on vacation ). No problem. ...my mom ordered a veggie omelet plate (it comes with grits and toast/biscuit). I ordered french toast with turkey bacon. (I LOVE their turkey bacon). It took an unusually long time to get our food. (The restaurant wasn't as crowded as it usually is)... When we did get the food....my mom's omelet was dry and falling apart. (She had no grits)....my bacon was half done and not good at all. I sent the bacon back and asked for a piece of fish instead. When I got it. ..in was swimming in grease. I looked back to see who was cooking because the food is never like this and I noticed they had a different guy cooking. The old cook was in the kitchen but it looked like he was just prepping the food while the new guy cooked the food.I don't know if this is permanent or just temporary but if he is going to be the new cook. Such a cute and quaint little place, right off of Covington Hey. Servers extremely attentive. I usually order the fish breakfast special that comes with 2 pieces of perfectly fried (not greasy) fish (your choice of what kind), 2 eggs, & grits. I usually order hashbrowns as well. The fish tastes wonderful & the grits are fluffed to perfection. A lot of the time this place is jam packed on the weekends, so make sure you get there as early as you can. read more

Set up in the Decatur area off of Covington. Simple All-American decor, but the food and service is highly exquisite and not expensive. Well worth it to come check this place out. Ordered two eggs, country ham, grits, along with biscuits and gravy (gotta get my biscuits and gravy!). My girlfriend got the same thing but added but bacon instead along with adding cheese to her ordered. All was "drilled" in a quick manner. I literally live 5 minutes from here, yet for my 7 years in Decatur have never gone here? No good reason why, just wasn't on my radar. My wife saw a bunch of positive yelp reviews so we made a point to check it out. This is a no frills , locally owner for 17 years, place. Menu was similar to a diner, but heavy on breakfast, which is what i love. I asked our waitress how long it's been there, she said "i've been here 15 years, so at least that long". She was the only waitress but worked it hard, everyone got served in a fast and friendly manner. Even the kitchen guys were friendly. So, good fast hot breakfast food, near my house? Good solid diner food the appearance won't impress but it's good solid food for the price especially in this area it's better than Waffle House not as good as Gladys Nights but a helleva lot more valuable!!!
