Demitris Taverna had always been on my short list for a long time and I visited here by chance being in the area and way past dinner time. The place is definitely welcoming, great ambiance, outdoor seating and cozy feel. Our server was very good, she sounded like she wanted us to have a good time while we enjoyed our meal, provided suggestions from the menu which were great. The food was awesome, we ordered the lamb chops and a veggie pasta and it came with complimentary bread and dip(which was also flavorful). I regret not giving this place 5 stars as the person who served water spilled a lot of it and never came back to clean it and there were flies inside, our server did offer us to sit in a different place where possibly there were no/less flies. read more

Not that great food, the gyros are dry and greasy. It's expensive and they don't have proper customer service. They charge for additional sauces and the food is on the expensive side. Not impressed with this place and I won't be back. $16 for a Gyro platter in Livermore? I thought it would be extraordinary but it's ok... I would pay more like $11 for it. Everything is charge like $4 to $5 more for a dish. There are much better places for GYRO. read more

Demitris is is my favorite restaurant in town! Food is super consistent and I've never had anything bad. I love their large plates and small ones, soup and appetizers are also tasty, lamb pops are seriously so amazing. I've been coming here for as long as I've lived in Livermore , about 12 years. I crave their food often and I am more than happy to give them my money forever ! Try the gyro pasta , all the salads are delicious, chicken souvlaki is bomb, and the best tzatziki sauce ever! Came back for dinner on a Saturday night - we timed it right by sitting outside just as the sun was setting below the nearby buildings (no wait!). This place is rocking on a Saturday night - lots of big parties but we had the nice outside area. We saw the sloppy fries last time and had to have them this time. They were amazing. Crisp fries, a nice bolognese sauce, cheese and a some gyro meat. Not a single bite left! I stuck with a salad and was very happy again. Service was great, especially since we were out in the front of the restaurant. Good team work by the servers out there. This my wife and I's favorite restaurant in Livermore. Bar none. The standard gyro is easily our favorite menu item. A couple of wait staff are starting to recognize us we come so often just for the gyro. The staff are super flexible. My wife is picky and doesn't like onions or tomato, the standard gyro topping. They are always more than happy to sub cucumber and feta cheese for her whenever she asks. Besides the gyro, I also personally enjoy the hortipita sandwich they have on the menu. I'm by no means vegetarian, but I find these garden patties so pack full of flavor I'm more than happy to pass up on a fattier, greaser, hamburger patty. How can I forget the complimentary bread and garlic potato spread? Whenever we introduce someone to Demitri's they talk about that spread for the rest of the day. That stuff is amazing. Demitri's is a fantastic restaurant with attentive, lively, staff. It's menu is varied, but full of items you'll keep coming back too. I can't recommend it enough. read more

We have been here a few times. Friday night is very festive. Many parties and high traffic. Good crowd at the bar. The waitress did hear one order wrong. It was promptly fixed. My wife also was given the wrong dish. They quickly corrected. House spread and olives and flamed safanaki both very good appetizers. I really like the safanaki. Everyone like their meals. My sister and I got the seafood penne and man it was so worth it, the staff was so nice and I'm relocating to Livermore soon, this will definitely be one of my favorite spots. We made reservations for Witches Night Out for 14 people on the patio of a restaurant a couple doors down. Well, they had plumbing issues and had to close suddenly. Had to wait for a table but enjoyed a cool, refreshing drink at the bar while waiting. So many choices of drinks and many I have never heard of-yikes!
