We had a group of 11 come in for dinner, ordering independently but sitting together. We made it just at the beginning of a Saturday dinner rush, with a line growing to the door just after we ordered. It moved quickly, but I'm glad we had to wait for 3 people ahead instead of the throng which followed us. I'd guess dinner after 6:30 will get busy. ;-) The food came in a short time, comparable waits to other similar places. The portion size was adequate, but the pricing very good. We often come to another, similar place down the road, and a chicken sandwich is probably $1.00 less than there, and nearly as good. My wife's philly chicken was great, and my grilled chicken just good. Flavor was good, portion size was a very long piece of chicken on a round bun - just took the ends off and put them in the empty bun spots. Service was fantastic. We had a young man coming around the tables, picking up trash (or emptying the receptacle area of plates / trash), and making sure empty tables were clean for the next guests. Overall, a good, clean place for dinner (and probably lunch). We were pleasantly surprised as a group, and will be back for an occasional Saturday gathering! read more

Ordered through door dash a couple weeks ago! Still the same awesome food even though it has been a couple years since I had moved. My order though unfortunately did not come with the multiple cheese I had ordered with any of the fries. This has been a reoccurring issue so make sure you check before leaving the place! I wanted to write this review and thank Alex, not sure if he is a manager or a server but he made everything right when I called about the missing cheese. He understood my frustration and went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied with customer service. Thank you so much and for the awesome experience and I'd love to keep supporting this local restaurant. I recommend their 1/3lb burger with bacon and mushrooms they don't skimp out on the extra toppings and the bacon is actually good gourmet quality. So juicy! Great lunch place to go to with the typical fast casual environment. I got the gyro sandwich, hot dog, and a piece of baklava cheesecake. The service is awesome here, the servers are very nice and fast. I mean I came during the lunch rush and right after I sat down at my table, my food was ready. The portion of gyros is plentiful at a great price. I've seen gryos at other places where its more pricey and not nearly as much gyro meat as they give here. The gryos were hot and fresh and perfectly flavored. So juicy and the tzatziki sauce was balanceed well and tasted great. The hot dog was pretty good, nice snap, but mostly just a typical hot dog. The baklava cheesecake tasted so good. I loved the tanginess of the cream cheese balancing the sweet honey flavor of the baklava topping very well. You really can't go wrong with Dengeos; whenever we are in Buffalo Grove and not in the mood for Portillo's, Dengeos hits the spot. There is always something for everyone and the food is top notch and fresh. The workers are super friendly, the restaurant is very clean and a step up from a typical fast food place. Today I got the skirt steak sandwich loaded with all the great toppings and a huge side salad; the skirt steak is very flavorful and grilled just how I like it! It was a nice change from the kebabs or gyros I normally get, which are great choices too. The daughter got the fried shrimp platter that comes with lettuce, tomatoes, great Cole slaw and fries. She said it was the best fried shrimp! The boys opted for typical American fare of hamburger and hot dogs, cheese fries and onion rings. Everyone was happy and enjoyed their food. I like the little touches like real silverware, "help yourself" takeout containers because they always give you so much food and friendly workers making sure you have a bag for your leftovers. read more

The guy at the counter was good and patient and explained what the difference between gyros and gyros dinner was. He also split our check so that my ma and I could pay together. The place was neat with both booths and tables. It has a couple of tvs. The staff was friendly and they took my tray so I didn't have to worry about trying to put my stuff in the garbage and how I was going to juggle the things in my hands with the tray. They offered me a bag for my togo leftovers. The food was very good and comes out fast. I recently visited my family back home and the number one place I missed and wanted to eat was Dengeo's!! I missed the fries and the gyros! The food here is so good and it makes me sad that there isn't one in LA! I love the layout of the place and the dining room was bigger than I remember. If you're into gyros, dengeos is a great option. I get the gyro every time i order food. the pita is perfect, the meat is never burnt and the sauce is never too heavy or too light. I will definitely try more items on their menu but i cant stop ordering the gyro, every single time. read more

"Voted #1 gyro in the city by ABC7" The sign grabbed my attention, so I decided I had to try it. I haven't eaten any other gyros in the area, so I can't back up that statement 100%. However, I've sampled more than a few gyros in my time and this place can keep up with the big dogs. The beef and lamb is flavorful, tender, and piled high and served up on a warm pita with just the right amount of tomato and onion. Plenty of homemade gyro sauce accompanies the sandwich. There's no need for any sides because this puppy is more than enough to satisfy lunchtime hunger. This made them famous? I can see why. I got my order to go, though it appeared that the restaurant is kept neat and clean. On top of that, the service is fast and friendly. I even got a nice "Thanks, come again" on my way out, so bonus points for that. The menu also features ribs, chicken, burgers, salads, other sandwiches, etc., etc., all reasonably priced. When I'm in the mood for this type of food, I'll likely go local and head to Dengeos instead of stopping at the big P chain in the opposite direction. read more

Not a typical greek-style restaurant. This place is a little like Portillos...only better. The gyros are done perfectly and the sauce is spot-on. Burgers are large-ish and tasty. The only downside to this place is that you almost always have to wait. They are always busy - this is a good thing!! Food is always fresh from the grill and the Gyros are never dried out or crunchy from spinning too long. Portions are large and salads are actually worth the price. Great place to go for gryos. They put a really good amount of meat in the pita which is soft. They also put the right amount of onions and tomato with it and the cucumber sauces is great. There are plenty of tables in the dining room so it's nice to come here for lunch even at noon when it can get crowded. It's similar to Portillo's where you order food at the counter, pick up your food when your number is called, and then someone comes around and picks up your tray at your table when you're done. This helps keep the dining area clean and comfortable to enjoy your lunch. I can't comment on anything else because I haven't tried anything else here but based on their gryo and other reviewers, I would like to try something else next time. read more

So when I come to Buffalo Grove my go to dinner is the Gyro Plate and a side order of hummus. I spend one night A week in Buffalo Grove and this is always my headlight. The hummus is fresh and the perfect blend of spices and chickpeas. Served with fresh warm pita game over. Well the hummus by it self alone I could have like this for dinner! I've had a few things for dinner here from my hamburger, chicken Greco style, and of course the famous gyro plate. The dinner plate you could really get two meals out of there is that much meat with it. Always fresh always and full or flavor it's like eating a fine steak at a portion of the price. A tomato and a huge portion of onions. The tiZieke sauce is great and always ask for extra and they never charge you. If anything the fact they don't charge me for the extra to Zieke sauce is just shows great customer service. The value and the amount that you get do not compare anywhere else. read more

I've been here a couple of times awhile back, and though I pass by it all the time, I kind of forget this place existed. The Super Bowl party that I attended this year had catering from Dengeos and it was super delicious!! They had gyros, chicken, a couple of salads and excellent rice. It was so good that my fiancé and I decided to come back here again and grab some food on a weekend evening. I had the Greek Salad with gyro meat and it was amazing especial with the warm pita bread. My guy had the 1/2 Grecian Chicken with Greek potatoes and he also enjoyed his meal very much. I am honestly surprised with all the negative reviews. Dengeos is constantly busy... the restaurant is always packed and the parking lot looks even worse. We walked in on a busy night and ordered for carryout, and we only waited 10 minutes or so. If you are in a hurry, I do recommend calling your food in ahead of time, otherwise, it's really not that bad of a wait. Dengeos is a good place to go to when craving Greek food... fairly cheap, tasty food, and quick service! read more

After living near Dengeos since it opened, I actually went in for the first time yesterday. I believe I've had take-out from them in the past, but to be honest, couldn't remember. After having dinner last night, I think I know why. It's just not memorable. I ordered carry-out because my man is sick and we were just stopping in on the way to pick up his prescription. I ordered: Dengeos steak sandwich (comes with grilled onions and bbq sauce) also comes with fries. Gyros plate, which comes with fries, and all the fixins. I did order the fries well done, as I know any fries tend to get soggy when being transported. They did a great job with that. The gyros was just kinda, there. Kostas at Dundee and Hicks is much more flavorful, and not as soft... the meat has more of a bite, which I like. The tzatziki was very acidic but not extremely flavorful. The tomatoes the are currently serving were a bit pale... but the only thing they can really do to avoid that is to say that they're not serving tomatoes at all, which I doubt would fly. The thing that really pissed me off was that I was waiting in line behind two high-school aged girls, to order. There are three registers to order at. If you're not familiar with Dengeos, you order at the counter, and then your number is called when your food is ready. So, i was waiting in line behind these two girls. It was OBVIOUS we were in line. Then, these two older people walk in the door, bypass right past us, straight up to the counter and order (the register they went to had JUST become available.) I mentioned it to the girl at the counter when I got up there, and she just shrugged. Sure, if they were THAT hungry that they needed to go ahead of me, fine, but that's not good customer service, Dengeos. Overall, I wasn't too impressed and will probably continue to go to Kosta's for my Gyros fix instead. read more

This place is great for a quick meal. Its like portillos but offers greek food. Service is always is quick and friendly. You get a ton of food for your meal so its a good value. I've had the BBQ chicken and ribs. I really like the sauce. Chicken and nice and juicy with charred skin. Ribs are nice and tender. If you order a meal it comes with a side and garlic bread. I've also had the chicken gyro. You get a lot meat and all the toppings. I always have leftovers to take home. There is a lot of variety on the menu so you can always find something that you will like. read more

Unfortunately i can support this restaurant anymore based upon what i saw total when we visited to. I think i saw 1 persom wearing a mask behind the counter. All the people in the kitchen had masks but wherent wearing them o er their mouth and nose. And what i assume was the manager (badef upon the work he was doing) didnt have a mask at all. I tend to forget about this place because there's a Portillo's closer to me and if I want a hot dog or Italian beef or sausage, I go there. I also try to avoid gyros, as they're really not too good for you. But there aren't too many gyros places up in this area, so when I do want one, I typically go to Dengeos. All in all, their food is pretty good. They recently remodeled and it's nicer inside than before, plus I love the TV's around so you can watch some sports if you choose to eat in. I have found the staff there to be really nice - especially for a fast food joint - kudos to them. Prices are reasonable too. A cut above most of their competitors. read more

Most of their food is really just decent. It's all about that double bacon cheeseburger. I would advise against going with their meal that comes with fries and coleslaw. Their coleslaw sucks, there's no sugar coating it. Every time I've gotten it it's room temperature. Cabbage is limp. Juuuust shy of flavorless, and the bit of flavor that you do get is like a watery Miracle Whip. Not for me, I guess, and I love me some coleslaw. I've also substituted the fries that come with the meal for Greek potatoes twice in the past. Eh, I prefer the fries. The potatoes are okay, I feel like if they toned down the butter a tad(kindouv a lot), and threw some more lemon flavor in there they'd be fantastic. Until then I'll leave them with a solid "Meh". Onto the burger, ohhh man. Any burger you get, get it with bacon. The bacon is thick cut and always crispy. Flavorful as hell. "Everything" is lettuce, dill pickles, tomatoes, onions, ketchup, mustard, and mayo. Good portion, really gotta open the mouth to get a solid bite. Have napkins handy, it's a messy beast. Been eating here 2-3 times a month for the past two years or so, and as it's so close to work I have no intentions of stopping. read more

Ate there a number of times before Covid and continued to order and support them when they offered Curbside pick up. Always enjoyed their service and food. Tonight we called in to order Curbside but were told now that their open they don't offer Curbside anymore. We're still uncomfortable going into public restaurants and asked if they would bring it out to the car but we're told, no, they don't do that anymore. It's understandable that it takes someone to bring it out, but it would have been the nice thing to do.
