I was really craving their gyros sandwich so I headed out there in middle of the blizzard like conditions to get some for the whole family. We've eaten there a few times in the past when I used to live near by there and had pretty good experience. When I got the food home and started to eat, I thought the taste was a bit off when I took my first bite. Couldn't tell if it was the meat or the sauce but it definitely did not taste like traditional Gyros sandwich (let's just say I've had quite a few many in my life time). I barely took a couple of bites and just couldn't finish it. Had a taste I couldn't explain. It wasn't till the rest of my family started to comment about the strange taste that I realized it wasn't just me, the food tasted weird. It wasn't terrible but it definitely didn't taste like it used to. They do have great customer service though and the guy who gave me my order was super nice. I hope this was just an off day. Last week a coworker & I ordered lunch via GrubHub. We got the Chicken Kabob Plate Dinner, Greek Potatoes & Chicken Stir Fry Dinner. Both came with a warm pita & tzatziki sauce! We received a lot of food for a great price. The food was great, the delivery was fast. 10/10 will order again. In the past, I've only gotten burgers from Dengeos. Being pregnant I am now craving different kinds of food weekly. One evening I was craving a chicken gyros and since I live directly across the street the place is easy access for me to get to. When I placed my order there wasn't a long wait and I requested Tzatiki sauce a few of them at that. I wasn't charged extra for the sauce and I was given a few. I also love the fact that they keep lemons out in their beverage area. I love putting lots of lemon on my chicken gyros and pita so instead of driving the people who work there crazy with requesting that as well I'm able to take as many lemon wedges as I'd like. AWESOME! I ordered my food to go and when I arrived home everything was warm, flavorful and fresh! I also added a side order of their delicious Greek potatoes where I squeezed additional lemon juice on. This lemon addict feels you can never have enough lemon especially in yummy delicious Greek food like this! I've been dining at Dengeo's for many years so this review was long overdue! When I got out of my car and walked up to the door it was blocked up by a line of lunch time customers all eager to get out of the cold. No problem the three cashiers that were on lunch duty moved them with remarkable speed. They have efficiently nailed down! Can't say anymore about the food that hasn't been said before. It's all good! Gyros are one of the best, but I do have a couple of favorites I like better. Greek chicken and salads are highlights for me. Service, value, great food served hot, plenty of seating. YUM. I think if there is one way to describe this place is a Greek-style version of Portillos. I went here for the first time with my husband and we asked their recommendation about the food. The two girls went back and forth about their favorite dishes and how fun it is to work here. NOTHING gets my vote more than enthusiastic people at the job their are at. We settled on the meatball sandwich and the gyros plate with greek potatoes. It was all very good. Everything tasted fresh, was delicious, and was plenty of food. We had fun sitting out on the patio and loved people watching. It was fun to see all the families coming to the restaurant after baseball, soccer, and dance practice. This is a great place for families and I'd highly recommend it. Small complaint: gyros plate only came with 1 pita, which wasn't enough. If you order it, make sure to get more than one pita. read more

The place is clean and has a nice ambiance. We are looking for a place to dine in and we found ourselves here. We know this place but we never had any experience and it is our first time. Staffs are quite friendly and accommodating. They have a wide selection on their menu. We ordered a lot than expected because we are excited to try their food. I had never heard of (or noticed) this place until a friend suggested we meet here for an early dinner a couple days ago. It's a gyro/hot dog/burger joint that is very similar to Portillo's and other locally-owned Greek/hot dog joints. Although I don't eat these things anymore, I still love going to the restaurants. Dengeos doesn't really have vegan options (aside from a salad and some sides) so I asked for a pita with grilled vegetables in it. The only vegetables they have are onions and peppers, so I said that was OK. I also requested some tomatoes and lettuce on top of it. I explained to the cashier that I don't eat meat, blah blah blah. After I placed my order, I realized the price was a bit high. I checked the receipt and noticed the girl charged me for a chicken pita. Baffled, I asked the guy behind the counter why I was paying so much for a simple pita with some vegetables in it ("Why should I pay for the price of the chicken if I'm not getting chicken in it?"). Apparently the girl thought I wanted a chicken pita and had asked for extra vegetables on top of it. And this is after I explained that I don't eat meat and made a big deal about wanting on vegetables. Really?! How can you mess that up? (And why do places keep messing up my order these days? Is it my fault?) Fortunately, the guy was willing to refund me for the extra cost and switched my order around. Yay! The pita with vegetables? Delicious! They stuffed it with a good amount of vegetables and the crinkle french fries I got on the side were as good as any other place. The only thing I didn't like was that my vegetables were not cooked at all, as I had requested, but I was tired of being picky so I ate it anyway. I felt satisfied. My friend and I ended up staying there nearly two hours, just catching up on life. When we arrived, there was barely anyone dining, but by the time we left (6pm on a Monday night), the place was getting busy. That's a good sign that this is a good place to go. read more

This is a quick-service place that has decent food. I actually haven't been there for a while, but used to go there for a change of pace. I remember they had a great Caesar salad that comes with awesome garlic bread. I don't think I can put my finger on it, but I always got a funny feeling when I went there that everyone was looking at us... or something. I have going to this restaurant for 20 yrs and today I had the most unpleasant experience with the owner and his name is Louie. I got baked spaghetti entrée that cost $9.50. I picked up the food brought it home and found there was very little sauce on it and like a little bit of melted cheese in the corner of the of the container see pic. I called and spoke to Louie who told me if I wanted my money back or a replacement I needed to drive back and he would give me a new one. He refused to give me a credit. This pasta, tomato sauce and a little bit of cheese probably cost him a dollar but I got charged $9.50. What a rip off and shame on the owner Louie for serving this dish and his restaurant. You're a rip off Louie I'm sad to say I will never ever ever come back to your restaurant again. He also hung up on me by the way. What great customer service Louie!! You must come here for a gyro plate!!! 5 stars because it's one of the best I've had. They give you a TON of meat and you hud it yourself so you will walk away full. It's cooked well and so yummy. The amount of food it fantastic and its well process. They have great desserts and you can get them to go which is even better. They do get busy but there is ample seating. If you are coming for lunch, I recommend coming here early (11:30) to avoid the rush. You order your food and then seat yourself (similar to portillos) If gyros are not your thing, they have many other options from Italian beef to grilled cheese. They have salad and other Greek food. This restaurant is not that far from buffalo grove highschool. It's right next to Hakuya and it's sucha hard reaction to make sometimes. The owner often agrees to help the high schools class board out by doing deals to help fund the local community! The food is very good too. Definitely get a euro if you are going there. I'm Not even Greek, I'm Italian but the restaurants food tastes like something you would eat at a family gathering. Very pleased with the restaurant and thankful it's in the community. Meh. The gyro doesn't have much taste at all and is one of the smallest I've ever had. The tzatziki is literally weak sauce. The whole damn thing was cold temperature wise. The one saving grace is pretty, pretty, prettay good pita. Contrast this with a surprisingly good greek salad, which they call the greek village salad. Like real greek salad there is no lettuce. Veggies were crisp and fresh tasting. They are generous with the bountiful feta cheese and vinaigrette is tasty, if not oily. Also points for nice modern interior and ample parking. read more

I have been dining at this place for years and it never disappoints. Its a staple of the NW Burbs for chicken, gyros, beefs and good food. The service is always top notch, staff is friendly, there is a lot of room and you never have to wait for a seat. The restaurant is clean and very well kept. I am a big fan of the chicken gyros plate, very moist, plentiful with a good size order of tomatoes, lettuce, fries and a pita. I have had the regular gyros before and it was also very good. I'm a regular customer in Dengeos - Skokie. I stopped in Dengeos - Buffalo Grove because I'm moving close, but it was very disappointed. The food is good but the place is very dirty, I counted almost 7 tables with dirty dishes and during the time that I was eating there nobody came to clean it. We are a family of 5 and we seat in 2 different tables that were cleaned by ourselves. When we were almost done, a lady was complaining about her potatos. The problem was the owner came out and he was screaming at her. He was rude trying to solve a problem with a customer. The people calling for the order numbers need to be training in customer service and try to be polite as well. Dengeos - Buffalo Grove has a lot to learn from Dengeos - Skokie. read more

So many delicious Greek food options, plus lots more! We come here once a year during Buffalo Grove Days. There are about 18 of us who show up at once, and they manage to keep the orders correct and serve them out quickly. Their burgers look huge and delicious! Their beefs are super tasty (the extra juice on the side is necessary). I'm always a sucker for a gyro, so that's my go to and I love it! Their red wine vinaigrette dressing is delicious over a fresh salad. The kabobs are plentiful and well-cooked. The food is always great and we leave feeling full!
