November 6, 2024, approximately 2:41 P.M…read more I can understand why so many restaurants are going out of business if customer service is anything like I experienced at the "Boathouse Grill" in Michigan City, IN yesterday. My two granddaughter's and I stopped there for a sandwich after shopping at the Lighthouse Mall. To say the woman that took our orders was unfriendly, is an understatement. She was an older woman with short hair. My granddaughter ordered a Patty Melt on white bread, this woman's response was "we don't have white bread." My granddaughter asked for a substitution because she doesn't like rye bread. Answer: "that's all we have." Did not offer to put it on a hamburger bun, which is white bread. I ordered a salad. I was told "no salad's today." I then ordered a fish sandwich and a cheeseburger, with two sides of mayonnaise, one for fish and one for cheeseburger. The woman who was cooking brought one side of mayonnaise. When I told her I needed another, her response "I already gave you one." The food was okay, service TERRIBLE. I would never go back. I'm in the restaurant business and would never treat customers the way we were treated yesterday. And to add insult to injury, I was charged .50 for a cup of water.
