Average food. Average restaurant. I like their burgers. Denny's has always delivered a solid product. I went here a good amount in high school, but now, I would much rather spend my time at a non-franchise. Don't get me wrong, they cater to everyone from gluttons even to the health conscious. I have memories of going here when I was very, very young. There used to be a smoking section that I loathed. With the ban in Illinois (one of the few things the state has done), it's not smoke free. Just got back from here, sorta. We wanted to try the craft pancakes so we stopped at Denny's tonight. Waited about 5 minutes to get seated even though there were less than 10 cars in the parking lot. We sat down and waited for about a half hour and got nobody to take our orders so we left. There was one waitress who was working a whole section and doing a great job. Then there were a couple other people seriously just doing nothing. I don't like complaining before I get my food so instead of asking about whether we can get one of them to do their jobs, we just got up and left. I guess one cool thing was one table was blasting music from their cell phone the whole time so at least we had something to listen to. Our family doesn't frequent Dennys often but our 3 year old wanted pancakes for dinner and this was our only option. I'm sitting in Dennys at this moment and am compelled to write a stellar review solely based on Joe's service. He is a customer service rock star. Not that I expect much when going to a Denny's, but at this particular location the service could be better and the food needs improvement. I've gone here about 4 times in the past couple of months because of friends asking me to. I don't think I'm going to say yes next time they ask. I've had various waitresses and they are all slow and mess up orders. I have yet to have a good experience here. Also, they don't pay attention to allergies, so if you have a severe allergy, don't risk your life eating here! I explained my allergy to my waitress and she didn't express any concern. And sure enough, she brought me a plate with two slices of the specific item I said I was allergic to, right there on top of my food. I had to send it back and then wait too long for them to fix the problem. By the time they brought my new, non-allergenic, meal out, my friends had all finished eating. Additionally, the food is rather greasy, even the eggs. If your wanting to save money, go to Culver's across the street instead, they are faster, nicer, get orders correct, and the food is much tastier and less greasy! read more

I go there for Breakfast on Sunday mornings. Food is good. I definitely recommend the Steak and Egg Breakfast - the taste of the steak is always mouth-watering. I recommend any of their other breakfast items on the menu. Also, their nachos are awesome! I was not a big fan of Denny's until I came to this one. No, it's not the food that makes it worthwhile, it's one of their servers. Xavier. He is THE BEST waiter in the world. I go with a huge group after church and we specifically ask for him to be our server and sit in his section. Of course, all the servers there are really warm, friendly, and will serve you to the best of their ability. We also have come to love them as well. We just prefer Xavier above all others. I've watched Xavier serve other customers and he is just as warm and helpful to them as well. He will do anything to make your "dining experience" as best as can be. As an example of how much he is loved by customers, he was out sick for a a little while and all the regulars would call and find out how he was doing and would ask if he needed anything. And we would have done anything for him. We were all worried about him, as a person not just a waiter. Ordered take out this morning - 2 skillets poorly and incorrectly made (asked for scrambled and received over easy), 2 sides of pancakes that only came with ONE side of butter and ONE side of syrup. Also the side of bacon was legit 2 half pieces! To top it off, when we walked in to pick up our order, there was MOLDY water dripping from the ceiling as you first walked in. Absolutely disgusting. Host was terrible from the moment we arrived with the worst attitude, saying disgusted " just wait a minute. ." as he looked at me and my boyfriend like we had a third eye growing out of our head. Definitely avoid it like the plague. I have been to other Denny's that have better food and service, and seeing as though this is privately owned you would think they would have more to prove. Poor service. Had to ask twice for a knife and fork. Any restaurant that forgets to give the entire table a place setting, needs to look in the mirror. Food was basic, but OK. We ordered from their new value meal menu. Lunch for two was $15. Not bad, but McDonald's would have been a better value for better food. We won't be going back. We went there this morning and ordered breakfast at 7:30. I went to the restroom and washed my hands and there were hundreds of fruit flies all over the place. We were told that breakfast is running late after half an hour of getting our orders because the cook was on the phone for the past 10 minutes. Breakfast finally arrived at 8:40; toast was burnt, hash browns were raw; milk was warm. Then they replaced the toast with sugar in it and inedible. I have been coming here on and off for years now. The food is OK, not bad but its Denny's so it's not exactly great food. The bacon menu is just crazy to me and I could never order anything from that. The one thing about this Denny's I like a lot is that the staff has always been friendly and always takes care of me. While paying, they didn't have change so we had to wait until the manager, Joe, was called. I was driving up to visit our daughter from our farm down south for Thanksgiving and I stopped by this Denny's on the way, my wife has now passed but the kindness of the staff here made my night a little warmer. The service at this Denny's is terrible. We arrived and were seated. Then the wait began, Our server walked past 4 times and finally stopped and asked if we'd like coffee to which we said yes. She then proceeded to walk back and forth (only once with something actually in her hands) 6 times. Still no coffee. We then got up and asked to be moved to a table that we could get served. Should have just left at that point but didn't. The person moved us to another table and instead of getting the requested coffee found and started bitching at our original server and sent her to our table with coffee that had a HAIR half in the coffee and half on the cup! Needless to say we left. We just recently started having breakfast here after boycotting for several years because of the crappy service. It will take several more years and a lack of other options before return. When traveling we do eat at other Denny's, the Las Vegas one is a favorite. read more

Omg I can not believe I ordered a bourbon chicken skillet and received a chicken breast cut in half when you suppose to get 2 chicken breast and a handful of vegetables when I called this to the manager's attention he said because they're close to corporate office they have to watch portion control so by the others being so far away they can give more. he then said I can get you more if you want me to I said ok he came back in 5 minutes with some chopped up chew up and spit out chicken and vegetables I immediately lost my appetite told him thank you but I can not eat that it looks gross I left the waitress a tip and left never to return. Terrible service So I used the website for Denny's to deliver pancakes to my school. The website said it would deliver in an hour only after I had ordered. Since my lunch period is only an hour, I decided to cancel it. So I called and the first person told me that they don't deliver and I'll need to pick it up. Then she passed the call to her manager and the manager rudely said I should have known that delivery would take an hour and that they can't cancel the order if they already made. And supposedly it was already ready, even though I only ordered minutes before, which would mean that my food would take an hour to deliver to my school. My school is 3 Miles away. So that would mean that by the time the uber gets here, my food will be soggy and cold? Although the manager agreed to cancel my order after I told her that I will not be able to get it, shortly after hanging up the uber eats driver texted me saying that my food will come in an hour. Also, he only reason I ordered was because my T-Mobile Tuesday App said it would be free if I put in the code. And even though inserted the code, I was still charged the full price. There was a table of people cussing at her about the color of her hair and how horrible she is because she informed them that they didn't have grits and she kept her calm and was super polite.
