Recently tried the breakfast burrito and hash browns. The latter kind of threw me, as I was not expecting a fried hash brown patty like McDonald's serves. The way it was listed on the menu made my husband and I expect shredded hash browns, so lesson learned. As for the burrito, it was delicious! The bacon was crispy which we like. A welcome suprise! While doing Door Dash, I needed to stop for gas. At the pump, they were advertising the Urban Counter, which is part of the Mobile station. Rather than going to McDonald's, I took a chance, and it was amazing! Everything is made to order, I think. I had mini cheese burgers with catsup and lettuce, which are a great size! I ordered the regular handcut fries and a chocolate / strawberry shake, which is made with real ice cream. If you are in the Wheaton area, I would recommend stopping in! This quick serve restaurant is attached to a gas station. It's honestly the best gas station restaurant I've been to. The 1/2 lb burgers are gigantic and cooked how you want them prepared. I couldn't finish mine! They also offer mini sandwiches which I thought would be really small but someone else got that and 1 or 2 mini sandwiches would have been perfect for me. I would probably get that next time since a 1/2 lb is too much. My fiancé likes his burger but mentioned some of the bacon didn't taste fresh on it. For our side we split the tator tots, they were cooked perfectly and a perfect size to share or eat alone. The speed was appropriate and the staff were friendly. We also enjoyed a vanilla milkshake. Again a great portion size. The consistency was dead on, it wasn't too thick where you can't drink it through a straw but it wasn't cold milk either! Overall they are about the same price as portillos and give you a lot of food for it. Everything was good quality. Great restaurant for being attached to a gas station. My only complaint is that all the tables needed to be wiped down in their seating area when we visited. read more

Five Guys, Portillos, they have decent burgers, Urban Counter has some of the best hamburgers I've ever indulged in. I like my burgers like I like my women, thick and juicy and they delivered. A nice half pound burger I ordered was the Bacon burger, I don't usually order my burgers the way this one was topped but this was f-ing phenomenonal. Bacon, onion rings and a sweet tangy BBQ sauce and jalapenos, I'm usually a strict burger traditionalist but this was fantastic. The fries are real much like you'd get at Gene and Judes. This place deserves your business, they deserve to succeed because their burgers are delicious. I forgot about this place for awhile. Got some breakfast burritos to-go. They were fantastic and the perfect size. I got mine with no bacon bc I can just be weird about bacon in things sometimes if not crispy. Dave took a bite of mine and actually liked it better than the bacon one. I recommend calling it in if you are in a rush. Food here is made to order which is great but obviously means it takes a little more time. After placing my order on my second visit to Urban Counter I was sitting at another counter waiting for my order. The manager was preparing it and he asked if we had ever been there before. I said yes but a long time ago. He was preparing a burger for me and asked if I had ever had one of their burgers. I had not and he told me that he makes the best burgers in the area. I found this entertaining because that is a mega huge claim to make. I said "great" in a way to humor him and when our order was ready we took it home to eat. Much to my shock, surprise and other great emotions the guy was right! I said to my wife, we did just buy this at a restaurant located inside a gas station, right? The manager was correct, it was one of the best burgers I have ever had in my life. They have three specialty burgers, this one was the Blue Cheese burger. It was prepared on a fresh brioche bun with Steak burger patty, blue cheese, bacon spread and arugula. Yeah, as I said, one of the best ever. Definitely one of the top 5 in the area. Last night we returned and I had the Bacon Burger. It has a Steak burger patty, cheddar cheese, onion rings, roasted jalapeno, grilled bacon, BBQ sauce, and brioche bun. All for only $6.79. My wife ordered a couple of their sliders ($1.89) and we also had an order of fries. My burger was outstanding and as good as the burger I had on my previous trip. My wife's sliders were awesome as well. The fries are cooked to perfection and really good. It is not all praise however. On this trip the manager was on the crabby side which I did not appreciate. I fueled that partly with my not being able to understand his question. He had a radio on in the kitchen blasting music. That along with the cooking notice I could not hear him. On both visits, although the food was fantastic, it was overcooked. He always asks how you want it and we always say medium but it always ends up well done. If you order soda he gives you empty cups and you have to walk over to the gas station to fill them. These are minor negatives however and I really love this place. I am a huge fan and plan to return regularly. read more

This review is completely based on the service. I have not even tried the food yet. My parents and I stopped in here on a Sunday morning a little after 11 - which is when they open. When we arrived, the man working the counter told us that they could not serve us anything fried (French fries, onion rings, etc) because they had to clean the frier. Something that really should be done before your doors are open. In addition, when we asked about the breakfast menu, he rudely told us that they do not serve breakfast on Sundays. I wanted a sampling of a regular burger and turkey burger (I'm a sucker for a good turkey burger). I ordered a mini classic and mini turkey burger. When I say these burgers were tops -- I'm not kidding. The classic was done just right and the turkey was probably the best I've ever had. The only problem is that I really want to try another one. Walk-In guests, stay clear of this joint. This place has done nothing but go down the pits of hell when it comes to customer service. I've tried to visit 3x in the last month around 11:30AM. Each time I arrive they have zero customers waiting in the store for food. They have zero customers eating inside. However they tell me each time as I enter, it will be (on average) more than 30 minutes till they can make my order. They say its due to call-in orders. They need to figure out how to manage walk-in's with their phone orders. If you have a customer walking in on off the street they deserve some priority since they are there now. I've been to several places that take online orders as well as call in orders and they always give some priority to a walk-in. I was once a loyal customer that took my family to this location often and frequented myself about twice a month. I will never step foot in the door again, I will find a new burger joint. I will not be fooled into waiting 30 minutes for a burger. I warn any future customers to stay clear of the poor customer service you will come to learn if you haven't placed a phone order. read more

I went here a couple weeks ago for a late lunch takeout (1:45pm). The place is attached to a gas station, but has it's own entrance also. It has a few tables between the entrance and the gas station shopping side. I walked up to the counter to see the menu and order. There was no own around and after a minute or 2 wait, i walk back to the gas station where I had seen somebody wiping down a table when I walked in. This person was gone, so I returned to the counter and called out. 3 workers in there late teens to early 20's appeared from the back. I ordered a BBQ/bacon burger and got is with the fries and drink to go. I was asked how I wanted the burger cooked and replied medium rare. The one female working began by putting a bun one the grill top and then put a burger patty on too. She took the bun off after it had grill marks and put it on the work area. She let the burger sit on the grill and the grease from it caused the fire to rise up and engulf the burger. After watching this for a minute or so, I complained saying I wanted the burger medium rare not burned on the outside. The guy who took my order stepped in and said it was to get grill mark on the burger. Okay, that I don't mind, but check out the pictures to see if that was what I got (sorry can't find how to upload the photos I took of the meal). He removed the burger from the grill and then steamed it on the flat top with water and a cover. The female cooked the fries and the onion ring for the burger. When she finished and was packing up the fries, she dropped a 1/3rd of them on the floor. She didn't even flinch or offer to cook more, just put what was left in the bag. With the burger and fries in the bag, she put them on the counter and said here is your stuff. I said it wasn't done. The guy then said, it is your order. I said it is missing my drink. The female walked over to the fountain without asking what flavor I wanted. She finally turned around to ask and I said Coke but no ice please. She immediately picks up the ice scoop and puts ice in the glass. I repeated my request and finally got it the way I ordered it. I took the burger home to eat. The burger was cooked well on the outside (burned by the fire) and brown not pink on the inside. It was a decent portion, but was not very good. The onion ring was hard and crispy and the fries were good but missing the rest on the floor of the restaurant. The customer service experience was horrible. Nobody out front when I arrived. Not paying attention to the food cooking or listening to the order. A 4th person arrived and appeared to be the manger/owner's son. While he joked with the staff, he was counting the money in the register. He ignored the exchanges by the workers with me and no one apologized for the delay or quality of the food. read more

One of the weirdest little gems ever. Who would think a gas station restaurant would have incredible burgers?? The wait was long. From what we saw there were only 2 people. There is a hiring sign so if waiting is a problem than yes go elsewhere. But if you decide to wait the extra time you'll have some incredible food. I had 3 mini burgers (steak burger/grilled chicken/fried chicken) my brother had a huge turkey burger. All came out hot and delicious and tasted quality. Couldn't believe it. My wife was really wanting a hot dog...a quick, simple hot dog. So I reviewed on Yelp...found this restaurant. Loaded up the address and of we went...should have known better when I saw it was part of the gas station...but...I tried anyway. Made simple order of Chicago- style hot dog meal and a Italian sausage for me. Not exactly super clean in the kitchen area to start with. A young girl took my order, handed me a cup and said to go fill your drink in the gas station area...? Ok...on way back, another girl came up and asked me about ordering the Italian beef? Said not my order, repeated that it was sausage and hot dog meal. Guess they did not have any Italian beef...even after they took the order. I then returned to the restaurant area after tour the gas station, and found no food being prepared yet...I was the only person there...? Finally a hot dog was placed on the grill...fries were basking under the heat lamp...who knows for how long. After about five minutes, another lady came by to apologize for the delay. Finally a sausage was placed in the hot water. It was immersed for a period of time...then the lady added in a pitcher of water...don't know if this helped the cooking time any. She then got the rolls for the wieners. She prepared the Chicago style dog first - it sat there waiting for the completion of the Italian sausage. Then came the second apology for the delay - it needed to be grilled now it add grill marks. So while it cooked, other sandwich was more than happy to get cold and full of liquid from the relish and pickle. After grilling was about done, I was informed that they had no caramelized onions...again might help to check before starting? So was to come with onions, sauerkraut, and mustard. I was too tired of this nonsense by this point...asked if I wanted anything on it...just replied give my it now. So went out and tried to enjoy my waste of 10.00 dollars on cold fries that were cooked much earlier in the day, a cold soggy dog for my wife, and a dry tasteless sausage...all done in barely less than 25 minutes! I wish I would have seen the Portillo's sign first...would have had a real sandwich and been gone in less than 10 minutes. Note to self...do not ever go to a gas station "restaurant" again read more
