Food was average. Server we had was kind enough to let us stay while we were waiting for our car to get repaired. The only thing is was when she brought us our water, she placed her hands on the top of the glass, which fortunately she gave us straws when we asked for it. The only place around here at this large rest stop called Coalinga where I could find something VEGETARIAN. I know it is Denny's and really none of us in our right mind really expect anything great about this place right? My family and I were driving to to LA and decided to stop for some food. We walked in thinking, "Oh yea we can have real food here." Oh boy were we wrong. We ordered fish, and it was over cooked and its texture was like leather and can't forget the over boiled, salty clam chowder. We got a cup of hot water and poured into the soup to make less salty, did not work, it was still extremely salty. Their staff seemed out of it and when my mother got a cut from the silverware and asked for more napkins, the girl never came back with more napkins, and can't even talk about how slow the service was. I know it was a little crowded but to make my family (party of six) wait half an hour standing is ridiculous. Especially when there are open tables. Took like three minutes of me waving my hand to flag down a waiter and the only reason they saw was I whistled. Server was nice but it wasn't enough to make up for this wreck of a meal. The food took forever to cone out My sausages were uncooked and my hash browns were overcooked. The only thing they did get right was the egg whites but how can you seriously mess that up. Poor poor service. Ordered drinks and all the wait staff decided to take break. Had to go get someone just to get our water we ordered. Food was ok just poor management I think. Also all available table were dirty so we had to wait while they went to find someone to clean them. The windows and doors class was filthy. My boyfriend & I stopped by to eat late night after driving all day. We were disappointed as soon as we walked in because it looked old & dirty. When we were seated the table was still wet from being wiped down & there were crumbs and a fly on the seat. The waitress didn't seem well trained. She was good about refilling drinks & brought the food quickly but asked if I wanted toast without explaining that I would be charged extra and didn't bring extra napkins for nachos (messy finger food). Avoid this Denny's as you would the plague! The place smells horrible and the service is worse. We tried to give them a second chance today. We won't do that again! We had to wait for a table because they don't know how to keep enough staff on the floor to serve at lunch time and the hostess was rude and did not inform our server of the order of her tables. This Denny's is always clean and welcoming. The wait times are reasonable, heavier during regular meal times, so we always go at odd hours. The food is always good, fast and we are always asked how we like our meal as soon as we start to eat. The staff typically have an awesome attitude, but every once In a while we get a negative Nancy of a waitress. The claw machine is always being filled with different types of prizes and keeps it interesting, even though I've only won once. The only real complaint I have is that our drinks aren't always re-filled quiet fast enough we always have to flag someone down and ask them after our cups have been empty for a while. Overall though this is a nice place for my little family to eat at every once in a while. read more

Like many others, not a dennys person but after 3 hrs on the road, it was that or fast food. We wanted to get out of the car but we needed quick. Food was bland and tastless. The meal took over an hour... The 25 min it took for someone to take or order didn't help. 1 of the irders was wrong and had to be sent back... 20 min later we got our kids burger back- Seriously i think they're cooking with an easy bake oven the patty was smaller than a Reeses peanut butter cup. We ate quickly and got back on the road. Somehow we spent $50 on i don't know what . Anyways it will be a long while before I head back into a dennys. I was very pleasant surprised; usually we only eat @ a Denny's when there are not much options and we want to have 'safe, child friendly' place. The waitresses here were friendly, seemed to care and helpful. We had the haddock dish with wilted spinach and the fiesta corn. The spinach was fresh, the fish was good ( a big filet) and the corn was spicy because it had a fresh pepper cut into it. We asked for fries without salt, and we actually got them. Everything also seemed cleaner then usually. They even wiped the booster seat before bringing it. Anyway on the I5 definitely a good choice to eat. The food was great. I had a red white and blue slam. That's the main reason they got 2 stars instead of one. Our server Sabrina served us quickly and nicely, but that's all she did. She did not check in with us even once besides taking our order, giving us our food, and handing me the check. I wasn't asked if I wanted more coffee. Exceptional service, Antonio our server was friendly and attentive but the entire staff and atmosphere was fantastic.

Well I stopped here today and decided on getting a milkshake. First problem was that my shake was over flowing and the sides were covered in ice cream. Secondly it took too long for them to bring me napkins to clean their mess. In the menu it specifically states that there is extra shake in the tin and I was looking forward to it. There was not and when I asked I didn't get a straight response. Then while I was paying I asked about again and this time I was told that I should have had t but no effort was made to reconcile the situation. I feel cheated out of my $4.50 and the poor service make me regret spending my hard earned money in this establishment. Very poor experience. read more

Poor service. They only had two waitresses and took over 30 minutes to get our food. I asked for decaf coffee and I got a cup with lipstick on it. When I told the person who brought my coffee, she said it was coffee grains. I said "it is lipstick". We ask for water 3 times and never got it. If you are traveling and want to grab a quick breakfast , do not stop at this Denny's. They are definitely under staffed. Need more servers. As for the food, I prefer ihop.
