Based on the other choices in the area, this was a five star restaurant. But, it's Denny's so i'm going four stars. Everything went fine here. The waitress was nice and efficient, the food was to our liking, the prices are decent. It was a good place to take a break from driving and get some tasty food for lunch. read more

It's in the middle of nowhere-land. Walked in and picked anywhere to sit since it was dead in there (until about dinner time. That's when the whole town walked in). Ismael waited on us and he was an awesome server. Got the Grand Slam with eggs, sausage, bacon, and pancakes. Everything was cooked great. The bacon could have been a little crispier, but the pancakes made up for it. I could cut them with a fork and of course I drenched them in syrup and butter because I was on vacation. Duh! read more

Pros : the food is good and the staff are polite. Cons : flies everywhere! I don't blame the staff at all for this. The waiter moved us to a less annoying area and told us they would be fumigated August 1st. An entire month for a fly problem?! The manager should have taken care of this problem within days! The restaurant smells of something that reminds me of old rags without enough bleach or a public restroom. Maybe that's why the flies are thriving. The restrooms are also in bad condition. Again, this is a management issue. Maybe I'll report this. read more

HORRIBLE customer service. No sense of urgency at all. 1 girl was doing everything, serving, seating, cashier.(not a good job either) EVERYONE ELSE WAS SITTING AROUND. We stopped in on the way from the north bay to LA for breakfast. The waitress came to our table twice. To take an order and deliver the food. We had to track her down to let her know the eggs were under cooked... On an order of over hard...like watery undercooked, gross. We had to track her down for the bill, we could obviously see her just hanging out in the kitchen, ask 2 times for a box and then go to the front to get one because she must have forgotten. Smokin and jokin, playing grab ass, shootin the shit, whatever you want to call it. Most of the employees were chatting, drinking soda and just plain not paying any attention to customers needs. Try a different breakfast place in the area if possible. read more

This is definitely one of the nicer Denny's that i've been to. It appeared to be newly renovated and was clean. The downfall would have been the speed of the staff but it was passable. The food is your typical Denny's standard and i wouldn't say any better or any worse. It's cheap, its open late and when you're on the road you can't expect too much else. read more

It is amazing and impressive how this restaurant got a 2 and a half stars. Service is very poor. They will really make you wait for a long, long time to get seated even if there are plenty of tables. It's like this place is filled with sloth employees. This restaurant is by I-5so most customers are very hungry travelers. Imagine driving in the evening, hungry, and a bit anxious because you are in the middle of nowhere. You come to this place hoping for some comfort. You get excited because you see a lot of vacant tables, and then they make you wait. You see other customers come and go and have the same exact frustration. This is not the first Denny's that served this bad in Hwy 5. Avoid ay all costs or you will he sorry. Choose IHOP. read more

We stopped by here to eat on the way back home to LA from Vallejo. Just like any other Denny's place. All the servers here were super nice. I forgot our server's name but she was super friendly and always made sure we were doing good! It just smells really bad outside and there's a shit load of flies everywhere. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. Get in waited 10 mins to get seated. Then the waitress's takes us to table with NO CHAIRS. Did I miss the point of being seated. She told us us she would have to get some chairs. So we ask of we can sit on The other side of the restaurant that is empty and were told they had to clean it apparently they just left the table dirty. 10 mins later apparently the tables still were not clean and we ended up leaving. If you like cold food and burnt coffee this place is great. Took over 40 minutes to get food. Had to get up and ask for silverware, had to get up and ask for a napkin, had to get up and ask for a refill of 3 hr old burnt coffee. So your probably thinking they must of been busy and understaffed. Nope! Just poorly trained and lazy! Which is unfortunate because when they spoke to us they were very polite. read more

Where do you go in the middle of the night when nothing is open and you are hungry? Denny's.. of course. Unlike the previous reviewers, I had literally no wait time to sit and the service was quick and attentive. The waitress was friendly and helpful. She went out of her way to find out the ingredients in one of the items (which turned out did contain eggs) and together we were able to vegan-ize one of the menu options since none of them were really suitable. It was quite tasty, the price was cheap, and it filled me up. I am sure I will be back for breakfast the next time I am in Coalinga. read more

I've had my fair share of Denny's food but I think this is worst place. The family and I were driving by from SD to SF and stopped for dinner. Mind you this was after xmas, so the place was a bit packed from other travelers. I usually order the country fried steak, which is pretty good but not so healthy. They skimped on the gravy, it was more of a dab of sauce. The steak seems a bit off. I can't describe the taste but I think its been siting out too long or something but I couldn't finish it at all. I should have taken the warning from the next table over when the guy made a complaint and asked for a different dish. I was foolish to think he was being picky. I HOPE this wasn't the dish the guy returned... because food came out when then took his plate back. One thing that got me a bit frustrated is that I usually can swap out the toast or pancakes for their seasonal fruits. The lady said no can do and i'd have to pay the full price. Tables=dirty, seats=dirty, food had hair in it too!! It wasn't just a single side that had hair in it, either. When we told the staff, the waitress that was covering said they'd just take it off the bill but we were able to hear the cook yelling from the back that we were lying. (When the waitress saw it herself) Also, the water literally tasted like dirt. It was the absolute worst. just go to McDonald's if you need to stop at Harris ranch. read more

This Denny's was ok but for sure was lacking in many areas. Service was slow and sloppy, kind of spilled coffee on the table. Food was ok but taste like it has been sitting on the grill for a wile so be careful if you come here. I would recommend more attention to detail from the staff. The experience here was pretty terrible. Our order took forever to come (20+ minutes) and the food was barely warm when it arrived. The table next to us got up and left after not being waited on after 20 minutes or so. Also, don't get the cheesy tots. You get six and they taste awful. I ate mine out of spite because I didn't want to leave hungry. read more

Upon entering the place I encountered a place that was reasonably well kept with small bits of rubbish littering the floor here and there. Despite many available seats the hosts took slightly longer than usual to seat my party; however, before seating us the restaurant manager warned us about 30 minute wait times for the food because it was Easter Sunday. Our server, Richard, came about five minutes later to give us beverages and took our orders another five minutes later only to return again with the restaurant manager to inform us that they couldn't fulfill our orders for steaks because they were still frozen, which further prolonged our wait time and extended it well beyond 30 minutes. You'd think they'd tell their customers beforehand about certain conditions in the kitchen that would prevent some options from being chosen. Our food came out after waiting for an unusually long time, and Richard served all our food ALONE. That's food for 12 people, with no help from his fellow servers. The poor guy looked so frazzled and overwhelmed. Meanwhile you could clearly see the other servers standing around in the kitchen waiting for other orders and chitchatting. They could've been using that time to help our server and take any other requests or maybe even walk around to ask other patrons. My sister ordered mac and cheese as a side and it came out cold, dry, and a total mess on the plate. My family and I received the worst service we've ever had from a Denny's with the exception of our server Richard who was doing his best to make sure we were satisfied and comfortable. Kudos to Richard but the overall Denny's team at this location wasn't in sync and working together. A true disappointment. read more

In terms of Dennys, this is a Dennys. Food: Order for slamwich was delicious, served promptly. However the order of eggs took an extra 20 minutes to prepare (over easy) due to "newness of the cook" When the eggs came, it had little puddles of oil on it. After blotting it with several napkins, it tasted well and had good texture. A/c was at good temperature and restaurant was clean. Table was not greasy. read more

I did not expect to find a dish like the one I got. Halibut on a bed of risotto, with veggies and a blueberry bur Blanc sauce! It was very good. The risotto was amazing. The fish was good but a tad overcooked (dry). Great place to stop at while in the road.

Overall the service was pretty good and I do like the cute interior but there were a number of flies flying around. I think its because anyone opening their door lets in flies from the outside. A recommendation for those of you driving up northbound on I-5. Don't rely on Google Maps since their directions takes you longer to get there. They tell you that from I-5 to turn off on 309 and take CA-41 to CA-33 to Kings Street. Instead go up I-5 and turn off on 269. This way is much faster unless there is a back up on i-5.
