This place had the worse customer service I've seen in a long time. We sat at the counter and it took a long time to get our order placed, it even took longer to get our food as the cook never saw the order our waitress put in. The waitress checked on us about two time during the entire hour that we were there! To finalize our bad experience, we tried to use a digital 20% coupon I had received by email and they wouldn't take it, stating that I needed to print it out! My fourth time here and and it's beginning to feel Groundhog Day. Show up, they say sit anywhere, and like clockwork I have to get up after 10-15 min and remind someone that I sat down and will need a menu. Comes back with water (the ONLY one I'll see). They ask if I'm ready after having the menu 45 seconds I say "no". Fast forward 15 more minutes til I've had to wave someone over to take my order. (Empty glass). Takes order. Fast forward 15 more. Food arrives. Still no refill on water. Finish meal. Wait 10-15 For someone to come over, more often than not I have to get up and wave someone over for the check. It seems that there is enough staff for the amount of people in here given that time of the day, but for whatever reason. What was suppose to be a "15 minute wait" turned into a 35 minute debacle. The "host" was very disorganized, flustered and overwhelmed by patrons trying to sign in and find out their status on the waiting list. Patrons were getting upset because the host was not providing any updates and he kept disappearing. I knew I should have went to black bear diner. Needles to say I have been seated in my booth for 15 minutes and finally our server took our order.. Denny's what's going on with you?! Your losing your touch and your patrons too. My party consisted of my wife and 3 kids. Everyone's food except my daughters came out. How much longer could have it been for her jr slam with regular pancakes vs my sons jr slam with chocolate chip pancakes?! My poor daughter was starving asking me " daddy I'm hungry when is my food coming?" I told her its ok baby it's coming. I let my good sit there and get cold before I ate and waited for her food to come out before I began to eat. My wife ordered a cheese omelette and they forgot the cheese!!!! I walked into this Denny's it's a Tuesday night it was 7 o'clock give or take it took about 6 minutes for somebody to ask if I could be helped I said yes I'd like a table please the guy handed me a piece of paper and told me to put my name down and I did 5 minutes later somebody came up to the register and said can I help you I said I'd like a table please she said for how many I said for one then she said can I get your name I said it's already on there she says oh okay and then she walked around the entire restaurant for like 5 minutes like she was lost never once informing me how long or said anything like it'll be a minute or something so I waited for another 5 minutes and I asked another girl at the register if I could sit at the counter because it was taking too long to get a seat and she started giving me some excuse about if we're busy blah blah blah they werent busy they had 4 tables full so I just turned around told her never mind I'll just go to another Denny's I'll never come back here while I was waiting for them to take my name somebody that had gotten off the freeway to come here to feed her child said they were as slow as molasses read more

I dislike a dirty booths and table..greasy head rest..I know it's late but you still get paid to do your job.I let the hostess know and showed her which was visible and she just flicked the crumbs with her hands,I'm just like ummm still dirty.she was not pleased and walked Nd grabbed paper towels did not even wipe correctly. The lava cake good.but not the best I've had.The waiter either was tired or just plain.He didn't seem to wanna work.no smile.no welcome faces or good greetings. .might wanna retrain the night staff. It makes me think if you can visibly see a dirty area and they nothing about it what do there back food prep area is like. Kind of a little bummed I have to review Denny's like this. I have lived in the neighborhood surrounding this Denny my entire life and had the privilege of watching the place grow and change. Unfortunately recently that change hasn't been for the best. I order take out from time to time. The last 3 times I've ordered something has gone wrong. This time prompted me to right this review. I arrived within the window of time I was told on the phone (10-15 minutes) and paid for my order within about 2 minutes of walking in the door. From that point on it was as if I didn't exist though. I could see my food sitting on the counter. The gentlemen that took my payment kept opening and closing the lid of it each time he walked by. It wasn't busy, 2 other staff members were sitting at the bar probably on their break and two were checking on patrons. After about 5 minutes of paying the guy that took my payment checked my food for the 4th time and decided to put the salad I ordered as well together, it was lettuce, cheese, croutons and tomatoes. Nothing needed to be prepared. When he was done he put it with the other take out boxes from my order and walked away. It took another 5 minutes for him to start bagging, midway through he walked away again to talk to the other employees sitting at the counter. I've now been there an additional 15 minutes waiting. A total of 30 minutes since I placed the order, again I was told my order would be ready in 10-15 and it was, they just weren't giving it to me. I stayed patient, but was starting to get a little irritated as my food was still sitting there, now half bagged and getting cold. After additional wait I finally got my food after reminding the server that the dressing hadn't been added to the salad. Another short wait. By the time I got home 45 minutes had gone by (I live about 4 blocks from there) and our food was stone cold. My friend wanted nachos and it had sat for so long that everything was stuck together and the chips were soggy. We also ordered Pancake pups which were cold and didn't come with the syrup or icing they are supposed to. I didn't go back, and when I tried to call them I got no answer. Everyone makes mistakes, I'm the first to admit that but the last 3 pickup orders have been similar experiences. Really hope they can get back on track there. I won't be ordering anytime soon, hopefully if we decide to order again they will have worked out the kinks. I will update my review if we do order again. read more

Walked in for late breakfast with the family and was told to seat are selfs.(ok no usual for a restaurant). Asked for a booster seat for the kid and the waitress rolled her eyes then Walked away. Well I guess we will average this out since my service was good and my food was good. I came in and was served in a timely manner and the server who took care of me did a fine job. But there seem to be a bit of discord and bickering amongst the servers taking orders from the kitchen out to the customers. The lady who I think was the manager... I believe her name is Tanya... Was quite pleasant to the customers including myself but seemed very rude and domineering over the servers, like a slave driver. I could tell a couple of the waitresses were a bit stressed as a result of it, and that's not a good way to interact in front of the customers. I am appalled by the actions of the staff at this location. My 14 year old daughter planned all week with her friends that they would come here after school on Friday. They all were ok'ed by their parents--given money for dinner--parents would pick them up at 530pm-- When I got there they were all outside because they were told by management that they were not allowed to eat in there because they weren't sure everyone would order and pay. This is total discrimination--and we will be sending many letters to corporate and I am sad because as often as my friends and I have dined there, We all will never go back again. read more

I stopped going here about 2 maybe 3 years ago. The manager was such an ass. Well I noticed they remodeled this location and since I was next door at a meeting, I thought what the heck lets take a chance. After all Denny's had to move or fire the manager by now. Really looks nice inside. Like a wolf in sheep's clothing. So lets get to the service and food. Sat at the counter at first so we could get quick service. Wrong, how about almost no service, the gal (can not use the word waitress or server) that would up taking are order had to finish wrapping silver wear before she could help us, the other lady was busy standing with her back to the customers using her cell phone to text. Finally the silver wear was done and we were asked if we were ready to order. I asked for a diet coke and a sprite, the lady just stood there until we had a food order ready, terrible untrained server. Then she put in the food order in a pos then went towards the soda machine by this time I realized how uncomfortable the stools were at the counter and asked to move to a table, after all counter service was not fast anyway, She then brought the sodas. I had to ask for the salad since I wanted to eat it before the main course. In her broken English she said ok I get it. % minutes after she brought the salad she brought my meal 2-3 minutes later she brought the tropical donut holes. My mashed potatoes, gravy, corn all barely warm. and the donut holes were so hard I could not cut them. When I asked to have them replaced you would think I had asked for the King's jewels. I had to ask twice. It is a real shame that these places like Denny's can not spend time training employees in food preparation and customer service. While we were there 2 tables walked out having received no service. Wish I had driven by rather then stop in. TAKE MY ADVICE, DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE. DO NOT EVER EVER EVER go to the Denny's on El Segundo boulevard in Hawthorne. This is the worst Denny's I've been to. We waited an unacceptable ampunt of time to be seated and to have our order taken. Then my mom spilled her iced tea on the table and my three year old son. They cleaned the table by getting ice and water on our seats. Then the experience really went down hill. Our waiter stood in the server station making fun of me for ordering the bacon chicken sandwich with a diet coke, half in Spanish and English to a waitress. They laughed and carried on. The order was up, I could see it from where I was sitting, for ten minutes before he brought it over. The bun on the sandwich was so soggy that it was falling apart. He also didn't bring the side for my sons kids meal didn't even say why, I had to ask. I saw him angrily making the apples I asked for while making other comments about me to the waitress by the restaurant counter. Then he brought the side. We never received utensils and I could see the waitress snacking bare handed from the bin of sliced cucumbers that they make salads from. When I paid the hostess asked how my experience was and I told her it was awful and I was dissatisfied. She wouldn't look at me, didn't apologize or offer for me to talk to the manager. This is one of the best Denny's we ever eaten at. We like Denny's for Breakfast when traveling as the menu is consistent with a good variety. My wife and I have patronized this Denny's for years but after the quality of the food and the poor service and poor cooking I think I might avoid coming here again!!! Everything started off fine when we got to the establishment my wife and I were seated promptly and the server was nice as well but then the roof caved In and my wife and I were turned off. My wife ordered her favorite Item on the menu, the french toast slam ,and I ordered the double cheese burger but when she got her french toast It wasn't cooked all the way through and It was gummy and doughy a definite problem so my wife asked the server to take It back and not only did they take more than 20 min to redo her order but when they brought the french toast back it was still not cooked all the way through!! my wife was highly upset and loss her appetitte This Dennys used to be first class but now the management and the cooks sucks we wont be back!!! read more
