Had to go to Fresno last minute and stopped at Denny's in Fowler, Ca and on my way home. There was only 1 server, the manager and 1 cook. Luckily it was not busy. Our server had only been working there three days. Kudos to Brianna C. She was busting her butt to make sure everyone was taken care of. The manager, did not catch her name but she was bussing tables, bringing food out and running the cashier. What a great manager. So many managers would just sit back while there employees drown. If there was an option to not give any stars, I would definitely choose that!! I don't like and never go to a Denny's restaurant, but because it was conveniently located in the same parking lot as our hotel, I decided to give it another shot. It started off good. The waitress took our drink order and brought all the drinks quickly. She took our order and it appeared that she was on top of it! The order took super long to come. As she passed out our food, she was highly confused...forgot one dish, a salad, and breads. Got the salads mixed up. Never asked us if we wanted any condiments and when we asked for some she gave us a bit of a non-verbal attitude by grabbing the serving tray and making a face. She never asked us if we wanted refills and when my daughter asked her for a refill she brought her 3 of the same drink. I perceived that as highly snooty. I ordered the Mediterranean Chicken with bruschetta. The bruschetta was tasty but when I went to eat my chicken it was rare. Nothing grosses me out more than undercooked chicken. My mother-in-law had to go to the kitchen to find out why my father-in-law's meal hadn't been served and we had already been at the restaurant for over an hour. Come to find out that the manager was the one cooking and they only had one waitress. How do you even operate a business like that?! The waitress had the audacity to ask my mother-in-law if she wanted his food in a to-go box!! Our server (Jessica) didn't bother checking up on us. I had to ask a different server to help us out. She stood there and talked to her co-worker the whole time we were there. The food was smaller portion than I expected, let's just say I left still hungry. Seriously disappointed. She's still there talking away.... The other times we've been here it was great but yeah.... the manager doesn't seem like he/she cares about this establishment because it's gone to shit. This place used to be great now, not so much. Just went in today and ordered a meal for my grandpa and cousin and myself. I got two Baja burger quesdilla and a vegetable soup and salad for "take out" and didn't bother to check my items there. Once I got home I noticed I had no crackers for soup, the soup was in a small container and only partially filled and the partially filled container of soup consisted of only small amounts of meat and vegetables. No napkins, ketchup for some reason was in the bag and the chips were cold?? Once I seen I called only to have the manager offer a merely 10% discount when I had a 20% discount from winning the wheel when dennys had its grand opening here and all he wanted to do was give that. There's no initiative for quality service here. You can probably order...leave for 30 minutes, come back and then your food most likely won't be done. I get if they're understaffed, but the least you can do if your cooks are "behind" is check on your tables. We've visited this place twice (because I believe in second chances). The first time we visited, it took 30+ minutes to have our order taken, and after our order was taken it took 1hr to an 1hr and a half for our food to arrive. We were considering walking out, and later we were offered at 10% discount (that we never received). Our second visit, was this morning at around 11:30. We were seated quickly, and our waitress took our drink order immediately. She asked us if we happened to be ready for her to take our food order, which we were, so she took our order. We thought this was a good sign, especially compared to the last time we went. But, once again, it took about 45min to an hour to get our food. This place is the worst Dennys I have ever been too. They NEVER get the food right. The waiters and waitresses don't tend to the customers I have to get up to get someone's attention for a re-fill! We ordered two Lumberjack Slams and got soggy pancakes and soggy burnt toast. The eggs weren't over medium they were over cooked and we requested no sausage due to an allergy and what did we get.... sausage. This is a small town so I expected nothing but the best from this place and I am beyond disappointed. This town needs good places to keep it alive but when you let dumbasses work there you get dumbass results. This place needs to be ran better with better employees that actually want to work not just sit around and bullshit all day. Honestly, they had climbed the ladder of expectations as to How ALL Denny's should be, that said it pains me to rank them with 2-stars (strictly for a+ food today): cleanliness, service, food & drink(refills), bathroom cleanliness all 5-stars up UNTIL this visit (11-22-2017 4pm).. our server was completely preoccupied with gossipping to "off duty" servers/relatives seated throughout the restaurant (mind you, the 2 tables of employees where the ONLY OTHER TABLES occupied during our visit). My iced tea was refilled 1 time in 1hr! 1 refill of 16oz of tea in 1hr is absurd and unacceptable considering we ordered an appetizer of nachos (that came with our food because the server didn't bring it 1st, even if I saw it on the cooks counter ready to be delivered) a tasty burger with fries for meal, and plenty of good table conversation. Needless to say, we will be back, BUT it most definitely will be onna Saturday when our Awesome weekend crew is there kicking boots and taking names. read more

The place was clean and quiet, everything you expect from a Denny's. The food was a bit substandard as the coffee was burned, the potatoes in the skillet were extra crispy and chard. The toasts and rest of out food took longer than the skillets themselves to come out. I'm not sure how the pancakes are but the skillets weren't as great as they usually are. read more

Worst experience at a Denny's! Manager (Nicareli A) took our order and it sat at the window for what seemed like forever. Husband's T-Bone Steak was supposed to be medium rare and it was well done. The Hash Browns looked like a half of a serving. My bacon was tiny, looked like they cut the pieces in half. They forgot my sausage. And the topper was when we got our order the manager walked away without offering steak sauce or tabasco and not leaving a bottle of syrup for my French Toast. ??? Where do I even begin... Now it's Dennys so I don't expect too much but I except better than we had. Upon entering we were greeted and told to go sit in a specific booth. Hostess/waitress did not walk us over to the booth. A minute later we were given menus and told that the other waitress would take our drink order. Fast forward to almost 10-15 mins later and we were finally asked what we would like to drink. We were brought our waters and then our waitress disappeared again. Out waitress comes over and states "Oh we are out of cherry tomatoes, do you still want your salads" seriously?? Yes! They are just tomatoes. So we said yes. Another 5-10 mins go by and I sat and watched her bring all the salad ingredients from the walk in to the counter to make our two salads. Seriously... So what? Hoping we didn't want the salads if you told me you were out of tomatoes? Anyways... Add another 15-20 minutes... Still waiting for our entrees... What are we at... Forever later?? Waitress comes to our table and states "sorry it is taking so long, cook was making the club sandwich with turkey so he needed to remake it." My husband and I looked at each other and I stated.... Well doesn't the club have turkey on it? Waitress states, while looking at my husband, even though I was the one who ordered the club "Yeah but you said you didn't want turkey on it you wanted ham." My husband stated no I ordered the super bird without tomatoe. She continued to state no you didn't want turkey on the club. OK. Seriously we both were like wtf at this point. I stated no I want turkey I ordered the club. Waitress left and our orders are up at the window. She brings our food over and what do you know... She hands me a club sandwich, no turkey, only ham. She tells me Oh well the cook already threw out the sandwich with turkey so you can have this one and I'll give you a discount or something. I told her I don't eat ham and she proceeded to tell me well then you would have to wait and I can remake it I guess. You guess?? Um I never even ordered it with ham in the first place. I looked at my husband and told him we were leaving. We still had about a two hour drive home and had already spent nearly an entire hour waiting for nothing. They were not busy. There were three parties in the restaurant. One party had gotten there after us and already had their entire order 10 mins before our order was even attempted. Guess when you aren't regulars at Dennys you get poor service. I wouldn't have cared and probably would have eaten the sandwich if our waitress had just apologized and admitted she messed up... Not given me the sandwich and told me to eat it even though it was not what I ordered. I'm sorry but it should not take over an hour to get a salad and toasted sandwich. And if it does...
