Usually when we go through Gilroy, we'll eat at In N Out. On this visit though, we decided to go to Denny's Restaurant instead. I ordered the Grand Slam breakfast where you can build your own Grand Slam. They give you a choice of 4 items from which to choose. I chose two buttermilk pancakes, two slices of bacon, scrambled eggs, and hash browns. It was a good filling breakfast that really hit the spot. I finished everything, and I did not eat again til dinner time! At pretty much any Dennys location, the food tastes just fine and the prices are very affordable. This branch was all of that plus they gave me good service. No complaints from me. read more

I'm not really sure what to say other than I clearly get to go to all the fancy places when I am at my parents' ranch. I'll start with the good. 1. I'm pregnant, and coming here made me feel very skinny 2. We were seated quickly The not so good. 1. I won't bother describing the food, you know you will get a plate of grease no matter what. 2. They give kids (we had my nephew) something called a D-fusion Mystery pack that you are supposed to add to your drink and "watch the magic". came on a regular saturday night with my girlfriend. the restaurant was half empty but the 2 waitresses that were there were running around like it was the busiest night of their lives. we sit down at the bar and right off the bat we see the 2 waitresses completely stop what they're doing and gossip to eachother completely ignoring everything around them. it took us around 10 minutes and getting the attention of the manager, when she walked around, to get drinks. after we got our drinks we ordered a 2 stack of pancakes and crepes with hash browns and eggs. this took around 30 minutes which isn't the issue. the 2 waitresses had still been standing their gossiping and proceeded to do so right in front of us for around 20 ish minutes before printing out a check and handing it to us??? before we even got our food?? we let her know that we hadn't got anything yet and about ten minutes later the pancakes come out. along with another set of pancakes? we tell one of the waitresses that it's wrong and she takes it back and we get the right order. while we're eating we notice a lot of other people complaining about not getting their food or their order being wrong entirely. the food was good but the dining floor service needs to be reworked. read more

Our server Brenda sat us down to a dirty table, she half wiped the table after we sat down. I had to ask Brenda for the rag so I could clean the sticky outer ends of the table myself. After cleaning my table I needed to wash my hands. The bathroom was dirty trash spilling on to the floor and the back of the toilet was disgusting. My family and I waited to be severed for up to forty minutes and when the food showed up the order was wrong. I ended up waiting an additional twenty minutes for my silmfit breakfast. The English muffin was super hard! Overall the bathroom situation really bothered me the most. If they let the public see that, I have to wonder what's going on in the kitchen. read more

YES, We are locals!! and tonight Sep 29, 2018 was Our worst experience ever at Gilroy Denny's location. We went there for dinner as a family of 4. Even the place looked almost empty, we had to wait about 35 mins!! Later on, an old lady called us to be seated, we asked if we could get a boot.. rudely she shook her head and said "whatever.. I don't care"!!!! She left us standing and went to the back of the kitchen... she was so frustrated, unhappy and unprofessional! I called for another server asking him where we should be seated. He took us all the way to the back of the restaurant and gave us a boot. After we ordered our food, we had to wait 22 mins just for drinks!!! 15 mins for appetizer (Nachos with no salsa and way far from what it looks on the pic!) Then another 33 mins for the food to be served on the table!!! When we got the food, one burger was too saggy and the chicken plate was totally undercooked. We had to return the chicken plate coz was totally uneatable! No silverware or napkins were at the table nor anyone offer them to us.. when I asked our server (a very young polite kid) about what is going on? He mentioned that they're understaffed and the kitchen is backup with only one cook in the back... he later came back and offer us 20% discount apologizing for things that he had nothing to do with it..well, overall it was a total mess and a horrible dinning experience on Saturday night.. lesson learned = stay away from Denny's in Gilroy! read more

We were hungry around 9:30p and walked into Denny's after shopping at the outlets. The host seated us immediately and brought our drinks. The server was super friendly. 1/2 a star was deducted for the food taking a long time and the restaurant was only 1/4 filled with customers. Let's face it, no Denny's is a "5 star." This one comes fairly close. We have a three year old, so we go here fairly frequently. Food is generally very good, especially by diner standards. Service is usually good too. They can get overburdened because they are right across from the outlets. So if they are short staffed, you just have to be a little patient. Maria, one of the servers, has always been extremely friendly and efficient. She is wonderful with our daughter too. Overall, not a bad place to eat for the price. Better than most Denny's we've been to. read more

100% irritated with this particular Denny's in Gilroy. I ordered the food online for curbside pickup. I specifically chose curbside because I do not have a mask. 5 mins after I place the order, I get a call from Denny's letting me know they didn't have vanilla ice cream and asked what my next choice was. I specifically said strawberry. Super friendly on the phone. I even let her know that I was here, and she said to give her a few mins. Okay yeah no problem. Thanks for letting me know about the ice cream. 20-30 mins goes by and I notice cars around me are getting their food and leaving. So I go inside and let the lady know I'm here for a pickup. She said something like it's been ready. Oh really? I ordered curbside pickup and it's just sitting around on the counter? Bagged up and pretty ? Yes. Under heaters ? No. Let me ask you something, do you like eating fries after 30 mins sitting inside a container? No. That's disgusting. So I asked how long was it ready for? And she said a FEW MINS after we got off the phone. Are you serious? And she retrieved my "strawberry" milkshake from the bottom of the freezer. That's even more disgusting. When I was asking her questions she walked away and mumbled under her breath "have a good night." My milkshake was chocolate and I HATE chocolate just like I HATE her attitude. It's ridiculous I had to wait for my food when I specifically put curbside. Denny's was not that busy and it's irritating how she just brushed me off. I would not recommend going there because they don't understand hospitality AT ALL. My food ended up being cold and nasty and my pancakes didn't even come with syrup. Super lazy Denny's. This is the smallest Denny's ever for the large population of people pouring though the door. Had to wait 20 mins to be seated on a Sunday night. The server was nice but I saw my food sit in the window for roughly 10 minutes before being delivered to me. First, Spanish is not my native language, but fine I know the language and I can use it for communication. Last night after a Varsity football game we made the trek over the hill from Watsonville to Gilroy and were starving as we didn't eat at the stadium, and I personally hadn't ate since my lunch at 11 am. We've lived in Gilroy for 17 years. It was extremely late to cook some food. We decided to get breakfast so we went to Denny's in Gilroy. It was a HORRIBLE experience.... not that I expected 5 star service and food but come on! It was late (about 11:30 am) and mildly busy, but not too busy that one and sometimes two food servers and the manager were able to hang out at the register (near where sitting) and count their tips. Our server was kind enough, cleaned a booth for us and prompt but right after we ordered our food and got our drinks she set the bill on our table and said she was going on her 30 min lunch and that our food had been ordered and that it would be delivered by another server. We said ok and patiently waited. Well 30 mins later, still no food. We saw other people's food come and go But no one even check on us. In the mean time another family was seated behind us. Our server came back from lunch and still didn't check on us. By this time is was almost 12:30 am and I was about to loose my shit. We came here tired from a full work/ school day, tired from a long drive and a football game very hungry for a quick breakfast bite. The entire time no other server or manager came over or checked on our food. We were getting ready to stand up and leave. Well I did loose my shit lol. I stood up and approached our server and the manager that were talking about tips at the register and I said, 'could you please check on our food, we have been here a really long time'. Well ironically the food was ready and it was hot and he server said, 'sorry the cooks are behind tonight.' Well that is fine but at least fricken tell us so we know!! Sad part is that the family that sat down after our server went to break was sitting there that entire time with no service, drinks or order taken! My husband ordered a grand slam special that comes with two bacon, two sausage, two pancakes and hash brown and look at his bacon!!!
