I hate Kettleman City as everything is a rip off and the plethora of people is insane so after we went to In-N-Out burger and there were 40 cars in line and no spaces in the parking lot we decided to go to Denny's, and I haven't gone to any Denny's in probably two years. We'll first the hostess didn't even make eye contact and not a single smile, Zero stars for that. There was a sick employee having a break behind us who should not have been working. Food was okay, our waitress was attentive, but at first unfriendly then as I was genuinely friendly she became so as well. Food was fresh and good. Hubster ordered the Bacon Avocado Burger which had a thick, tasty, handmade patty. Bacon was crispy, avocado fresh and perfectly ripe. Lemonade iced tea was a perfect alternative to a sugary soda, just enough sweet to make it interesting and refreshing. I had a perfectly well done egg white fresh veggie omelette (no cheese by choice) which was served with a bowl of very fresh fruit. It was a nice healthy light lunch. Service was OK, the waitress checked in with us a couple times but never offered to refill drinks. The bathrooms could be a little cleaner. Just got done leaving here after driving from seeing a family member in the hospital figured we would stop here before going to our hotel to rest & let me just say service was amazing I didn't get the gentleman's name that helped us but he was so nice. Next the food on the other hand HORRIBLE actually the person or cook was HORRIBLE my mom ordered simple chicken strips easy right nope came out they were burnt we then asked if she can get new ones the nice gentleman said yes let me work on that. He went to ask the cook .He then returned to the table and said and I quote the cook said he couldn't do new ones because they would turn out the same way so the nice polite gentleman asked if we would like something else for her she decided to just get salmon. Which took awhile god only knows why because it came out raw in the middle i know salmon especially fish should not be undercooked that much she could have gotten sick thankfully she didn't eat it . I maybe a little biased as my family has been stopping at this Dennys for years on our way to our winter vacation. Its a Dennys as far as menu and food, however, its clean and usually well staffed when visited. Bathrooms are nice and clean. Food is great tasting and fast. Have to come on here and give a shout out to Gabriel! We stopped here on our way to San Diego and had an excellent experience with Gabriel serving us. He is so outgoing, friendly and attentive. He went out of his way to make us comfortable being there on Father's Day with our two littles. The restaurant is also pretty clean, as well as the bathrooms being well kept. We ordered the Beefy Nachos, Buffalo Wings, Lumberjack Breakfast and Macaroni and Cheese from the children's menu. The food was all good and seemed fresh. The mashed potatoes that came with the Mac and Cheese looked a little runny, but it was an afterthought after everything else was done right. Thanks Gabriel! This was a great place to eat after letting our daughter get some energy out at the Bravo Farms playground across the street, will probably do the same routine the next time we make this long drive. Would have been great experience when we were greeted warmly by a female server (Latina) all smiles and excitement but then the moment we took a break from eating, stopped munching our food, she immediately came to hand over the bill. Asking "can i take some plates out of your way" we were literally still working on our food. It has not been over 15 mins yet since we recieved our food. We waited 35 mins for the food but the server was so quick to kick us out? Whats up with servers trying to rush costumers out. If the concern was flipping the table, it was just 2 tables occupied at that time and plenty of other tables are empty. I am so mucha nnoyed with service workers rushing the costumers out. We came on Thursday 12/28 at 5pm. Food cold and service is very poor. One guy running around screaming at everyone and not letting the other servers interact with the tables except for picking up plates. I watched as one of the two other employees went to ring someone up at the register and the waiter practically push him away and finished the transaction. Complete unsatisfactory. We were on an 8hr drive home and decided to stop here with the kids. Denny's is usually your basic step above fast food, but this turned out to be more than impressive. Our waitress, Vanessa, was an absolute sweetheart, and the food was great! We came here just to eat pancakes as my husband(btw he's very particular about his food and he's a cook himself) has never had them before and although the food is meh, I do like their pancakes. The pancakes as expected were delicious. We had the salted caramel banana and a stack of regular. Our server was Gabriel whom we'd like to give a big thank you to for keeping a smile on your face and doing a great job all by yourself. You alone deserve 5 stars. Now why I'm giving only 3 stars. The restrooms looked as if they have not been cleaned all day. There were only 5 tables occupied and we counted a total of 6 staff members it front. If 4 out of the 6 staff member have the time to dance, joke around and chat with one of the customers why don't they have time to clean the restrooms. Really professional staff - even at 5:30am. Daughter and I stayed overnight in Kettleman City and needed to be on the road by 6am. Got in the door at 5:30am Saturday morning and the lovely young lady shuttled us to our table and totally got our sense of urgency. Daughter ordered the "one of everything" breakfast (I don't know the real name but that should have been it) and it came out quickly, perfectly cooked, and very tasty. Stopped by here with my boyfriend, his sister, and his cousin to eat some breakfast on our way to NorCal! We initially wanted to eat at IHOP, but we already passed by the only one on the 5 so we decided on Denny's instead LOL My boyfriend and I split the Double Berry Banana Pancake Breakfast and it was pretty filling. I liked what we ordered and was glad that we split it since I don't think I would have been able to finish it all by myself. We also ordered the S'mores Pancake Puppies and they were pretty good. I wasn't expecting the outside of the Pancake Puppies to be as crispy and hard as they were, but they were still yummy and soft on the inside. I also liked that they came marshmallow dip because they wouldn't be s'mores without it! We ordered the spicy chicken skillet and the grilled tilapia. The skillet was messed up as they forgot to add the meat. It took a long time to acknowledge the staff to correct this as the place was seriously under staffed.The tilapia tasted fine. This is not related to the food, but the water pipes in the restroom seemed to have become rusty and the water looked brown :( On the overall, not a satisfying experience. read more

Worst Denny's ever. Stopped here on our way to LA. Poor service, food sucked, my husband's skillet was burnt to a crisp. The veggies were unrecognizable. Only one side of the restate t was used to seat patrons. What this meant was that everyone was crammed into one side. The empty side seemed to be used as the managers break room. I have always loved Denny's but I will take a hard-pass the next time around. Their floors were wet at every corner because the servers were overfilling the water cups. The French toast that we ordered were drenched with butter and it did not taste so good. Our server also forgot our drink orders--3 waters and an orange juice. This is a really nice Denny's. We've stopped here a number of times while driving Hiway 5. Newer looking and very clean inside. Spacious and light & bright. Parking lot is big. Employees are very nice. The service is very good and the food comes out fairly quickly. Good prices. Very accommodating during Covid. One minus: The inside temperature is way too cold!
