I have what some might call an unhealthy love for Denny's. Among my friend group, this specific Denny's has become a regular social gathering location of sorts, and for good reason. I'll now explain why me and a few pals consider Denny's the "food bible." I evaluate a restaurant mainly by the service, price, quality, and whether I can make the dish(es) better at home for cheaper. I'll write both about this particular visit with my good buddy Albert, as well as the years I've spent perfecting the perfect Denny's experience. On this particular visit, I started with $2 bottomless coffee. I thought it tasted smooth and had 3 cups over the course of the hour. For breakfast, I ordered 2 slices of delectable French toast, $4 total. This French toast deserves its own paragraph. It's among the best I've ever had. 2 slices of it is more than enough of a meal for me. Sure, I love to make my own French toast at home, but there's something about Denny's recipe that keeps me coming back. It's quite sweet but not tooooo sweet and wonderfully soft. The butter and syrup combination is smooth and rich and only enhances the already delicious experience. And at $2 a piece, it is very reasonably priced. Albert got the berry pancakes slam for $8 and kept talking about how they were the best cakes he's ever had. He also enjoyed the hash browns, eggs, and bacon that came on the side. Now, I think an essential piece about the perfect Denny's experience is knowing what and when to order. As a rule of thumb, I rarely stray from the $2-4-6-8 value menu. A lot of people don't know about this menu because it's not part of the main menu they give you. You can find it at the side of the table alongside the syrup, desserts menu, etc. It's definitely where you get the most bang for your bucks. Really everything on here is great, but I would specifically highlight (besides the French toast) the pancakes stack (2 for $2), the everyday value slam (2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 bacon/sausage for $4), and the eggs in a basket (a mouth watering concoction of eggs and cheddar bun halves with cheesy bacony hash browns for $6). Most of the breakfast items outside the value menu are well worth it too in my opinion- IE $8 grand slams with yummy various flavored pancakes and eggs, meat, and hash browns. However, I would advise staying away from the dinner options. I've had a couple burgers and they are fine but nothing special, and kinda pricey at $10 or so. And their desserts, while cheap, are nothing I would write home about, though I am a fan of the apple crisp. As for when to come, I've found that Denny's has prime hours that generally hold true for most locations, this one included. I would say between 9-12 pm and 1-3 am are the times to go. For whatever reason, service has always been prompt and respectful at these times. The off hours have been hit or miss for me. And I will admit that these hours don't hold true for some of the lower end LBC locations (Atlantic, Bellflower). If you get one thing from this review, may it be that the value menu is your friend, and that Denny's does breakfast items much better than dinner and dessert. Also, I think the best times to come are 9-12pm and 1-3am, as weird as that may sound :-) Denny's is truly the food bible as long you know what you're doing and not at a crappy location read more

I've stopped by here on and off throughout the past several years. I first came here when I was doing shifts at the VA hospital nearby. Their 24/7 schedule is very convenient. Nowadays, I stop by here whenever I'm coming back from the OC, SD, or meeting friends halfway. From my experience, this Denny's locations offers an above-average experience. The food is actually prepared well. I can tell the chef actually puts effort into his cooking. The staff here is also friendly and attentive. Even when it's very busy, they are making sure you are taken care of. The patrons are mostly college kids from CSULB. You get some weirdos every once in a while, but no real trouble-makers here. No complaints here, I'd come back soon. read more

We had the most amazing experience at .... DENNYS! Our server Javier was not only attentive he was upbeat and on top of it through the whole experience. Later a new hire came by to pick up the check so I didn't have to go the the register to pay. We had a birthday in our group and the whole staff sang Happy Birthday. It was like we were at a Mimi's or Crab Shack. I had to get the managers name (in my experience - these things don't happen without great leadership) The managers name is Alejandra.
