This place is absolutely disgusting, it smells really bad and the food tastes old. My family and I were so hungry and decided to make a quick stop at this location and we so regret it... We almost left all the food because it was that bad. I don't like jack in the crack but we would've had been better off just going there since is really close to this establishment. I must say that the service was okay but even the manager came out to offer a 10% off the check because I'm sure they are used to people complaining about the food and that bad smell in there. I love me some breakfast - I could eat breakfast for any meal. And a late night breakfast after a night of drinking? Uh, duh, why else would we be at Denny's. I'm tempted to grade this Denny's on a curve - which might bump this rating up to a 3. Ok, yeah, it's a 3. I just changed it right now. You wouldn't know it was a 2 just a second ago. But, sticking with an old, reliable favorite has the opposite effect. Hubby and I were in a pinch! We needed breakfast STAT! On our way out to pick up his car from the night before and then rush back for another engagement, we careened into this Denny's. My man is not hard to please...just give him some good, old fashioned, crispy hashbrowns he can put tobasco on and he's a happy man. Weird, that so many (more trendy) places don't even offer the browns. So, yeah, he had the chicken fried steak & eggs and I had a new menu item... a delicious breafast burrito (avacado and bacon). The best part was that it was grilled. It came with hashbrowns in it AND a side of hb's. Wow! Denny's really knows when they've got a good thing. The service was accommodating our rushed scheduled and the coffee was never empty. My husband did complain that he got a small glass of water when he asked for a large. Big whoop, I say. I offered him mine, too...but he was into the whole proving a point thing. Another reason this meal gets 4 stars is that it was CHEAP. After trying a few other places...like Starling...it's nice to know I can walk away from a good, satisfying, hit-the-spot breakfast under 20 bucks (my burrito was like 6.95!!) Alas, one night after the Iggy Pop concert on the Queen Mary, it was midnight and nothing in Long Beach/Belmont Shores was serving. So we go to the 24/7 trusty Denny's. LET ME TELL YOU, they have come a long way from the pancakes and syrup and disgusting sausage from 2004-2008. Their new health conscious menu is PERFECTION! Their salad with walnuts, cranberry's, avocado, and chicken was delicious. My boyfriend ordered their healthy omelette, avocado, and turkey bacon!!! NOT EVEN high-end restaurants carry turkey bacon. I honestly really dislike the food quality of any Denny's. It's a last resort for cheap breakfast food or late night food, especially after drinking. Like Hazel Q. said, Denny's is Denny's is Denny's. But this one is awesome; the servers (during the day) all know me and I always get great service from them. I love Han, the little Korean waitress. She's so adorable and kind, and is constantly smiling wherever she goes. Great gal. There's another one who is younger, Spanish girl - short, always sporting the pony tail with her brown hair, and glasses. I like her, too, and I feel horrible I can't remember her name. She liked my Totoro shirt. Any Miyazaki fan is a friend of mine. :3 And although I don't really come in that often at night, the night staff is equally as nice and attentive. But ANYWHO, on to the food. I usually always get breakfast here because, let's face it, it's always about the Denny's breakfast. And it's CHEAP too, which I love. Though last night I an over-medium egg and the yolk was almost neon yellow, which was questionable to me... eh. Oh well. Tasted okay, I just thought it was odd. The only thing they've ever screwed up with with me is when I get the chicken sausage - it came out ice cold on two different occasions. But they always throw it right back on the grill to heat it up, or get me a brand new one, so not really much to complain about! Oh, and try out the new bacon menu. I think it's only for a limited time, but they have some awfully tasty looking things I wanna try out. Bacon flapjacks? Yes please. They're on my list. Also, the bacon sundae? We stopped by at this Denny's on the way back home from a pumpkin patch in Long Beach. We had (2) 1 month old babies and (1) 5 year old and (1) 3 year old. You can just imagine the waters that were spilled and the commotion we caused!!!! The staff were great!!!! I didn't catch their names but I'm guessing they were the managers in charge that day! I am in customer service and if these (2) managers are the trainers for the rest of the staff then this Denny's is destined for greatness! They were very attentive and respectful! Pros: very clean, fast service, friendly staff, manager is very involved with making sure items are correctly given to customers, the surrounding area is nice, this location is generous with portions. Cons: kind of small and restrooms are for one person to use at a time, so you may have to wait to use the restroom. Overall, unless you don't mind waiting to use the restroom the awesome friendly staff and good management is worth visiting this location. read more

In Long Beach as my aunt is in the hospital after illness at end of cruise she went on. Saw the 4.99 Grand Slam and thought, why not, cheap and it is Denney's so should be fine. I've been to a Denny's before and they usually aren't the best of choices on a hungry stomach or after a long night. But just this once I decides to go and take a bite to eat there with my girlfriend and because of our waitress, we agreed to go again. The service there is fast and enjoyable. We ordered a side of sausages and our waitress brought them out in about two minutes (give or take a few seconds). It was the fastest service we ever had with our food and we will go again whenever we get the chance. If I could, I would give this place negative stars. If Jonny is working, you're all set, and should be well. But, if the manager is working, LEAVE and turn around. I had ordered their new special, blueberry French toast with strawberries. I received blueberry pancakes without strawberries. Then, I got the pancakes with strawberries. Then, I got regular French toast. And finally, I got regular French toast with strawberries. Each time, the manager helped me, or shall I say not helped me. He was angry at me because I supposedly ordered something not on the menu. (What I ordered had a special flap in the menu) He obviously wasn't paying attention to what I was saying as well, and made it harder for both sides. Then, apparently when the bill was split, one of our friends paid for the wrong thing because of the manager working on the cashier. I tried to settle everything maturely, but instead had the manager telling me that I was rude and that he'll pay for it. The whole time I was asking for my order to be corrected I stayed very calm. But I'll admit once the manager finally chose to speak with me, I got a little crazy. Keep in mind that I still never got my right order. This store sucks completely because of the manager, who disrespectfully treats his employers in front of customers. He doesn't help the employees and sits down out front until the booth he's seated at is needed for customers. He never smiles at customers. My boyfriend and I were welcomed upon arrival. The staff was really friendly and attentive and consistently checked on us. The restaurant itself wasn't anything too appealing. It was mostly clean, but lacked any kind of wow factor. The food itself was pretty disappointing. I ordered an order of french toast with bacon and sausage. The french toast was good and was very filling. My boyfriend had ordered the ham and cheese omelet. Upon receiving our orders, we both noticed that the cheese in his omelet wasn't even melted and that it was just regular slices of Kraft's cheese. Ugh, gross. Probably one of the worst Denny's ever. I came here with a couple of my friends and we were asked to take a seat. We picked one and sat down. We waited 10-15 mins for someone to greet us. He came (his name is Efren, I believe) and took our order. We all got waters, and order from the menu. I ordered the beyond burger while my friends oredered grand slams. The food took 30 MINUTES to come out and Efren or male server did not check on us at all. Terrible customer service. Our food arrived and it was pretty cold. I was so annoyed that my food was cold but due to my time constraints, i devoured it. Once again, me and my friends are waiting another 15 minutes to pay. Impatient and realizing that we have class at 10:30, my friends and I marched to the counter and paid. Luckily, they were much faster and attentive when receiving payment than when attending to us in general. Overall, a complete pitfall. I eat here a lot especially late night on the weekend. They normally always get my order right because I always get the t-bone steak and eggs. But tonight instead of giving me steak they gave me pork chop. I told the manager Hector that this is pork and not beef but he said that it was beef. I know the difference between pork and beef.
