    9 Hearty 9-Grain Pancake Slam+tropical greens smoothie
    Trin H.

    |[ f o r b i d d e n c r a v i n g s ]| Was craving pancakes after a long day of clinical so I stopped by and got the 9 grain pancakes slam-- I asked for no bacon/meat but to substitute for anything non meat, she agreed but I was disappointed to see that they simply left out the meat but didn't replace it with anything. :/ pancakes were decent but the sides were underwhelming, imo it wasn't worth the cost. Also got the tropical greens smoothie, which was okay but way too sweet (I asked for no added sugar and I'm not sure if they forgot). I've gotten this at other Denny's before and idt it was this sweet. |[ s e r v i c e ]| They were not super busy but I stood and waited for 10-15 min before I was able to order, they decided to check on all the tables and talk to another customer for awhile before acknowledging me just to tell me they'll "be right with me" before having me wait more. It was odd. Parking lot out front was easy though. Ambiance is your usual Denny's. Not sure I'd be back, it's gotten too pricy with small/underwhelming portions, and menu options lack more healthy items. Hoping this changes though!

Long wait times and unequipped for small surges at night! Don't come in at 11:30pm unless waiting is something you enjoy.

Make sure to call ahead or join the yelp waitlist because there is quite a wait. I ordered the TUS breakfast sandwich, and it was very delicious! The bacon they include in the sandwich is a flavorful thick cut. Egg was cooked just how I like it. Plus it came with a healthy serving of crispy fries. Girlfriend ordered the Kimchee Fried Rice Omelette. Her spice tolerance isn't too great, so it was a bit too spicy for her, but I thought it was delicious as well. Fair warning if you can't handle spice! We shared a mimosa flight, and the lavender lemonade was definitely my favorite, but overall a well rounded mix of flavors. Peach pecan cloud pancake to cap it off, and while I'm not the biggest fan of sweets (especially so early in the day), it was a delicious, light and fluffy treat! Staff were kind and attentive and made sure our needs were met! And a very cute atmosphere for a brunch spot. Food was great, but the wait times and rowdiness of the crowd take away from the enjoyment of the experience in my opinion. Overall 4/5!

I just much never saw the point of adding random ingredients to rice when I could have complete control over what I want as ulam. I remember when Toby and I were in Hawaii, she insisted I try some local fried rice. I ended up getting somewhat sick because whatever they put into it just didn't agree with my stomach. And it's not like I could've asked to take the offensive ingredients out because most places don't post exactly what goes into their version of the dish and if I asked to hold the sketchy stuff, it would end up being closer to steam rice anyway. But some places like Scrambler's Cafe just know how to make it right. They load it up with meat only put the bare minimum of veggie mix, and portion it out like there's a hungry man ordering it. Every bite is tremendously flavorful and filling. I love their fried rice and it's quickly become a go-to dish at Scrambler's--first at the Corona location and now at the new location. The service is great too. Everyone was nice and the refills came fast without prompting. Every restaurant should have service this competent. Also, the ambiance was great. The tables were spaced out and the noise was very respectful. It's just a chill place all around, fit for large parties and solo diners. It's a good eating place for anyone. I love the options for the Loco Moco, hamburger, Spam, chicken katsu, or Portuguese sausage. They had a shredded beef short rib option the day we went. I ordered it and it was fantastic!! Definitely will be back to try the other combinations. I had to try the macaroni salad and it didn't disappoint. The island Chilaquiles has kalua pork and it was also delicious ! Ordering is a bit different. You order at the counter and they assign you a table number and then you go sit at your assigned table and eat. It was packed! Line out the door and a line for the whole duration of our meal. There are plenty of tables inside and outside. And they can accommodate large groups too. The staff is very friendly and they have staff walking around refilling (regular) coffee, if you order it, but the special drinks are one time. Again they are only open for breakfast and lunch. I think this will be our go to Loco Moco spot for a while. They have other breakfast options too, but I really enjoy a good Loco Moco. Toby likes to poke fun of me because I usually a cup or two of coffee when we're in, but, get me to…read morea breakfast diner or other food joint and I'm suddenly having six to eight cups with my meal. I remembered this because Iron Skillet has got to be the fastest on the draw in terms of keeping you coffee topped off. I counted in the first fifteen minutes I was there, I had my coffee refilled four times and probably eight times in the span of the forty-five minutes I was there. The only slowdown I saw was when they dropped off the bill. Suddenly after that no one was checking on me to see if I needed more coffee. I guess they figured that I had had enough and were cutting me off. That's a mistake because as long as I'm sitting at breakfast I'm going to want coffee. The second thing I noticed was they have a damn good skillet program here, especially if want to experiment with creating your own. It was something like $15.50 to put in three mix-ins for your skillet, but only $1.50 to make the mix-ins unlimited. This time I kept it simple--sausage, ham, green peppers, and onions along with customary cheddar and three eggs--but next time I'm going to experiment a little. The skillet itself was amazing. The portion was generous, the produce was fresh, and the eggs were super runny. It really is in contention for the best traditional skillet I've ever had. The other thing that could've put it in the running for best skillet overall is if they had some exotic offerings for protein like I've had elsewhere in the country like elk, smoked pulled pork, duck, walleye, or even rabbit. Skillets are good, but skillets with like an animal you don't normally see for breakfast is amazing. I'm still on the lookout for my goat skillet. The service, as aforementioned, was impeccable. The coffee refills is the main thing I complain about other breakfast joints and here I never even had a thought to getting upset regarding that for the first portion of the meal. My only critique as you may have guessed is to continue that generosity and initiative for the whole meal. I really want me to toy with breaking double digits with the amount of coffee refills I receive during a meal. And that's only going to happen if you continue to ask me after you drop off the bill. The ambience is good. It looks like a diner. It quacks like a diner. It's a diner. I felt right at home here with all that space and mix of booths, tables, and counter space. I'm definitely planning my trip back here for that superb Build-a-Skillet and that fantastic attention to keeping the coffee overflowing in my mug.
