My daughter ordered the biscuits and gravy she said they were a little to salty for her taste. I had the philly steak omelet and it was very filling and I liked it. I know, somebody is going to say "how does a Denny's get 5 stars?!?!" Well, most everyone on yelp has been to a Denny's and would all agree that they are are not a five star establishment, but this place is a five star establishment among the several Denny's in the Reno/Sparks area. First of all, we usually come here on Saturday late mornings and I must say that this place is busy. Most of the time it is difficult to get a parking place, but one usually opens up relatively quick. We have not had to wait more than 5-10 minutes to be seated, every time we have been here. Why? the hostess running the front is on top of things. She is constantly checking with customers walking in the door, checking the restaurant to see if there are any open tables, answering the phone, handling take out orders, and taking payments from customers. Second, the quality of the food and coffee have been far better than the other locations. We usually order the blueberry pancake breakfast (eggs, bacon and hash browns) along with two waters and two coffees. The pancakes and regularly light, fluffy and full of blueberries!. The bacon is crisp, the eggs are fluffy and not over cooked, and the hash browns are browned, slightly crispy and never under/over cooked. Last of all, the servers here is a joy to watch. There are people constantly hustling to ensure that people have drinks, tables are cleaned, food is coming out, and to check on seated customers to find out if everything is ok. We were greeted and seated very quickly. Waitress was right there with a smile and much needed coffee. The food was served promptly and was as good as expected for this type of chain. I ordered the "Make Your Own Grand Slam".....for $7.29 I got a big bowl of grits (being the southern girl that I am, I love love love that they have grits!), 4 eggs and 2 big pancakes. I've been to plenty of Denny's... Usually try to avoid these types of breakfast places as I like to support more local businesses and less chain restaurants but somehow ended here.. Nonetheless, I was quite pleased. Stephanie & Ivon offered outstanding customer service at this location and the food was very satisfying (Grand Slam Breakfast). There was a time that I loved going to Denny's for cheap eats with friends, but those days are probably long gone and it's not because I can afford better. It's because not one person in this Denny's, from the manager on down, speaks English as a first language. So, you will hear the employees discussing your order, you, or whatever it is they like to talk about (last night's date?), in a nonstop stream of Spanish. I wish many of us consumers didn't feel so bound to support the PC viewpoint because I'd rather see a policy, if not a law, against employees conversing in languages other than English in American restaurants -- but hey, that's just me. I'm ready to start talking in Pig-Latin in their presence, just so they can see how rude speaking in another language is. The workers are friendly enough, but the food is not nearly as good as it should be. As for the T-Bone steak, it's thin and kinda rubbery, especially if you get it "to go". To justify the $17 price, Denny's gives you the choice of two fast food-like sides. Try Mac N cheese, canned corn or mashed potatoes, french fries, hash browns -- but no baked potato!!! Maybe Denny's has merged with KFC? I'm writing Denny's a letter about the food and the language problem. If I wanted to hear Spanish spoken exclusively between employees, and only broken, heavily accented English spoken to me, I'd go to a Mexican restaurant where that's what I expect. In my view you have to compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges, and so you can't measure a Denny's up against fine dining stuff, its gotta be against competitors. When you take the time to do that, this one is pretty darn good. Food here is standard Denny's fare, but they always make it right at this spot--I've never had a dish I didn't like and that wasn't prepared to order. Customer service is great, the hosts and hostesses are friendly and the wait staff is likewise friendly and efficient. You'll never want for a refill on your drink and your food comes out pretty darn quick. All in all, this is a really good Denny's. read more

Pretty standard all across America. This one was perfect because it was so close to where we were staying. We walked to dinner and enjoyed the light breeze that we would never get at home. Ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with veggies. Nasty! Didn't eat it, chicken was rubbery, All of the veggies on the sandwich and that came as the side were rotting with brown edges. This a great spot for my daughter and I we come here for family style fast food. It's has cozy booths were we like to talk and play a game together. We can do here comfortably, with very friendly service. It compares nicely to similar types of restaurants, if you are in the mood for a fancy 5 star meal this probably isn't the place you're looking for. We waited over 45 minutes (from time of placing the order) as sit in customers. People are so critical on this website. Denny's has really good food. I have to be 100% Gluten free and they are always super accommodating of my needs. I have never been "Glutened" here, so that is really important to me. I have 3 kids so we always go out to eat on Saturday night for "Kids Eat Free." This way, we pay for 2 adult meals and all 3 kids' meals are free. After tip we spend under $30. You really cannot beat that price! Staff is friendly and the food tastes very good. I came by the Dennys on Plumb, 1100 e plumb ln, and I brought my nephew, my pregnant sister, and my pregnant girlfriend, to a birthday lunch for my nephew who turned 18. Our waiter was okay, patient and nice, but the food we received, nachos, sirloin steak, philly cheesesteak omelette, and pancakes, well on the nachos we asked for no onions and pico on the side and it came with onions and the pico on the side. My girlfriend is very allergic and we had to give her a benadryl or she would have a swollen throat and cant breathe. Then the sirloin steak, what my nephew ordered, was well done, not medium rare as he asked for. Then there was a whole hair wrapped in the broccoli that came on the side with his steak. The manager was informed there was onions and I watched our waitress Lesley tell him there was and walked away and he called her name out and shook his head smiling saying there is no onions in Spanish, which was translated from my mixed white and Hispanic girlfriend and we then had to call the manager over and show him physically there is and he comped the nachos and also re made the steak for my nephew. We received no refills or asked how our meals were only after we complained about our service. I think we'll stick to our usual denny's which is on Wells. read more

Husband and I enjoy coming to Dennys because of the retro feel and for the fact that we have fond memories with this kind of diner. Employees are kind and tables clean. The menu has more options than you would think from a "greasy spoon" from the classics to newly innovated choices. We usually order breakfast but their lunch options are great too. This is the best Dennys we have ever been to and we have been here several times. It's family owned and operated and the whole staff is super friendly and efficient and they all work their asses off. The service and food are consistently great and no matter how busy it is on a Weekend we have never waited more than 10 minutes for a table or to place our order. This location in Reno next to Costco is so much better than their sister store in Sparks that is much closer to us but has always been disappointing. We will always make the drive to Reno from now on. You guys should open up a new one in Spanish Springs where we live! Los Altos Grill is amazing but we could use more choices and maybe not have to wait half hour for a table since they are always super busy! Almost 5 stars, but You need to bring back the 2-4-6-8 menu, with a family of four we may not be able to afford to eat her much longer. This is one of the reasons I never come to this location. Just two visit from the waitress 1) the moment they took our order. 2) the time she brought the food. I wanted some water and that took 20 minutes to get her attention. The other tables that we're being served got 3-4 visit from her. After coming from a friend's wedding, hubby and I were still hungry after dancing our dinners off but not many places were open late so we decided to find the nearest Denny's which we knew would be open. We were greeted and seated immediately to our table. I tried their Strawberry and Cream Pancakes with Eggs, Ham & Hashbrowns. The pancakes were pretty good and it even had white chocolate chips in it. I never order pancakes but I'm glad I did that time. The service was fast and friendly. There was even a kid who was working there and even checked on us at the table then took our payment at the front. He was adorable and very respectful! It is the management that make a chain stand out above others, and this place is a showcase for great management. I rarely leave a chain restaurant thinking that I had a really good meal, but this night I did. I was with my 2.5 year old, so I knew that I couldn't go anyplace too fancy or exotic. Cue me seeing a sign saying that kids eat free on Saturday evenings and I knew I had my place. This particular chain is very accommodating for children, and has an extensive kids menu accompanied by crayons and things to color, etc. I got a favorite of mine, chicken fried steak and eggs. I have eaten here dozens of times over the years and I cannot fault them. The location makes it the place to stop off when delivering friends and family too and from the airport at odd hours. Food is always delivered hot and relatively fast. Good service. I recall on a busy Easter Sunday morning being invited to breakfast with some friends. We were seated immediately even though there were nine of us and there were no complaints about the food, period. The only odd story I have about the place is that once I went up to pay for my check and the cashier ran my card. I looked at the receipt expecting a spot to fill in the tip. The cashier told me that I had to tell her before she ran my card. Hated that I could not tip the server because I had no cash- that cashier was a bad one.
