We had tried going there once before about 6 months ago, but the wait was too long for our schedule that day. Yesterday, our party of four showed up at 11, and the wait was only 10 minutes. Our server, Kristin, was amazing. She answered our questions perfectly and without hesitation; she was always there to refill iced tea and bring anything additional we needed - the service was flawless in every way. We were at a booth for four, and the booths are comfortable and clean. The layout of the restaurant is efficient, and perfect for the dining experience FSC is offering. And the food? Off the charts 5/5! I hadn't had pancakes in a long time, so I ordered the blueberry pancakes. The two pancakes were both massive and delicious. Fresh blueberries in the batter and on top, and they were perfectly ripe and flavorful. I can't envision anyone actually finishing all of it, but I was happy to take home leftovers. The pancakes were fluffy and light, among the best I have ever had. I also had a side of the house-cured bacon, which I requested crispy, and which arrived perfectly crispy and delicious. Mrs. K had the blue cheese burger and loved it. I was granted a taste, and I agreed. Juicy, prepared exactly as ordered, and served with exceptional fries that were crispy outside and soft inside. Our friends had various forms of eggs and bacon, including a dish FSC calls Beggin' For Bacon. The egg dishes looked perfect, and our friends confirmed they tasted as perfect as they looked. FSC gets a ton of 5-star reviews, and they deserve every one. We will be returning soon and often, and obviously, I highly recommend FSC for your next breakfast/lunch outing.

They are so busy here, and I wish they would just take a little extra time in the kitchen to make the food as great as the service. I first met the Brookfield's Rancho Cordova location, but I have eaten at this Brookfield's in Roseville several times. Previously, I had only eaten breakfast at this location, where the coffee kept coming as the conversations kept going. This time, I had lunch. I ordered a chicken ciabatta sandwich with fries while my friend ordered a BLT with fries, which was reportedly good. The chicken sandwich was also tasty and generously sized, but I felt the fries could have used some improvement. They were the thinner type and were moister than I like. I think that fries similar to larger (or even slightly larger) steak fries would make for a better accompaniment to their lunch platters. The service was prompt and amicable. The drinks were refilled as needed. (I wondered at times if we were being pushed out, but I don't think that that was the case since there were quite a few tables still available.) Note that, while the Rancho Cordova location is definitely a pleasant restaurant, they might have expended a little more energy and coin on the physical plant here. This is also a slightly nicer and newer neighborhood just over the county line to the north. The environment here is very pleasant. The pricing was in line with what the genre and the location command. I probably sang the praises for the Rancho Cordova location in another review because I had this dinner platter that I still fondly remember. Generally speaking, I prefer dinner food over lunch food, and lunch food over breakfast food. That could be it. That said, lunch here was indeed good and filling. There are some interesting quirks as to how the greater Sacramento area is laid out and Brookfield's sort of fits into the scheme of things. Going east of downtown Sacramento, the 50 freeway heads to South Lake Tahoe and the light rail follows it all the way to historic Folsom, with the Rancho Cordova store sitting along this route and only a short walk from a transit station. The 80 freeway also heads east, but veers northeasterly over the Sierra Nevada toward Reno, a 9-1-1 sort of place. The Roseville restaurant is located next to and is visible from 80. The difference is that this area gets more Stepford-ish and light rail service stops far short of here in a terminus that looks like a God forsaken treeless industrial section of a slumbering Midwestern city. Where the Roseville and Rancho locations sit, that "wishbone" created by the two diverging freeways is about 10 miles wide and it falls on "Big Hair Boulevard" to pick up the slack. If you haven't figured it out, that implies Sunrise Boulevard. Decades ago, a freeway had been penciled out to close this exact gap, but the proponents of the freeway lost ... and I wish they hadn't. Sunrise Boulevard does move along fairly briskly, so the drive between both restaurants isn't all that lengthy. There is just this vapid weirdness along stretches of Sunrise that could lead you to ask who is it that lives there, why so, and what they do. This sensation peaks as you are traversing "the Heights," which is what friends and I "affectionately" nicknamed Citrus Heights. I would have rather taken that proposed freeway and bypassed all of this! Brookfield's is obviously a solid establishment with staying power. The demographics of their catchment areas are not that interesting and quirky to most people, but they are to me. That said, I tend to add in these ingredients to round out and create a sense of adventure, a need for analysis, and even infuse a dose of harmless neurosis to many dining experiences.
