Went to this Denny's for the second time and it's confirmed my first time was not a fluke! The food was good and the service was even better. Veronica was our server and she was great!! If negative stars were possible, I would give them -10 stars. Denny's has never really had great customer service, but this one takes the cake. They're all working hard but they're still so damn slow..it's sad honestly. It can be a real tough crowd here (and at the old location on Mack) but geeez I only come back because it's cheap. It's so dreadfully slow here..5 min to get greeted to be seated, 10 min before they come ask what you want to drink, 40+ for the food to come out..I'm ranting cus I'm mad af they never have ice cream here! Christmas Dinner and you'd expect Turkey Dinner, but apparently the general manager doesn't seem to know how to order enough food for this location. That's what our server shared with us at least. She said that this happens every Tuesday usually, exceptntoday is Sunday and Christmas Day. The server we had also wasn't as attentive as I would've liked. Chalk it up to maybe not enough servers or maybe not enough cooks or maybe that it's Christmas, hard to pinpoint for sure. Had to ask another server to get a first refill on our drinks well over 30-40 minutes after they were initially served. I know it's busy, but that's entirely way too long. I saw her go to other customers booths about 3-4 down from us and didn't stop by. Even had to go up to ask for silverware after I realized that I had none to eat the garden salad she served me early on as well. She did hand me enough to bring back to the table. Last I checked, not my responsibility to do that. If I'd waited, who knows how long it would've been. The cooking left a lot to be desired too. Asked for well done sirloin steak and got one that was more like medium well. I usually order medium well, so good thing I didn't or probably would've looked more rare. Speaking of food, they were out of Turkey Dinners and T bone amongst others as well and on Christmas too!! Apparently the general manager doesn't seem to know how to order enough food for his restaurant, make sure to have enough employees here when it's one of the busiest days of the year or hire a cook who actually can make the food taste well. We walk in on a hot day.....It's cool in here and there's a jukebox playing.We sit down and are greeted right away with a smile. The host Jackie has a dirty mouth on her though. He was the friendly face with the smile. He later explained that one of his cooks was late an the other cook was new. A little later I seen him in the back cooking our food. Last min find after I bought my kids Burger King. Kids where hungry and eating as I ordered. Manager said to box the Burger King away cuz it's not allowed here and kids will be denied their soda which I was going to purchase here. We where all hungry with my elderly parents along and I couldn't leave with them hungry as well. They made us box kids Burger King away! Had to order another set of food for my kids. Even when she is slammed with tables she is constantly looking at all her tables to see what they need before they have to ask her like refills etc so she stay efficient. Wow! Ordered from the senior menu (+55) soup and grilled cheese sandwich. Got the soup spoon and no soup! Go figure! Called DoorDash support and was on hold forever. Then why were they open and Why wasn't a plumber there because she said they hadn't even been fixed Yet. Basically, the food tasted good. We went for breakfast food at 8 pm. That's about the only great part, to be honest. Restaurants are finally back open on the inside. So we went to eat inside. At the time when we got there, there was probably at most 5 tables sat, including us. They said theyd be with us shortly for our drink order. 20 minutes go by and I'm like wtf, can they at least ask us what we want to drink. I slowly started to realize they only had 2 waitresses for the tables, and then the old manager lady whos been there forever who I guess just can't be bothered to help them. Went to Denny's on Elsie for breakfast one Sunday morning with my family. We were sat down with no problem. It took 15-20 min just to be acknowledged, and that was after I went up to the counter and asked who our server was. Then another 10 minutes before someone came and asked us what we wanted to drink by that point we were already ready to order as well and kind of irritated when the server came back with our drinks, he took our order, but never once apologize for the wait nor did he even seem to be our original server. it took some time to get our food, but when we did, we were missing toast from two plates pancakes and we asked for more coffee we did not receive any of it. By the time we were done with our meals still hadn't received our pancakes or did they leave syrup on the table or get that cup of coffee we were waiting for went up to the counter two more times to let the server know. Honestly, I don't know if they were shorthanded or they just didn't care as it seems the manager along with three other employees, all standing at the register, staring at something that seem very important rather than taking care of their customers. we decided we are ready to leave without receiving our other items as we begin to say we did not want to pay full price. The manager said she already knew and was going to give us a discount never once. Did they apologize for there's lack of service lack of consideration. I called in to inform them and see how they could compensate for the inconvenience and I was told by the "assistant manager" Laura that I could come back and she could give them to me on the side or credit me tomatoes on my next order because there are signs on the window that say "check your order before you leave BUT I ORDERED CURBSIDE PICKUP so I would not see the so called signs!!! WOW! You're a manager and that's the best you can come up with?! No thank you. As I'm eating the salad I discover BROWN WILTED lettuce throughout the salad. Took the salad back, and asked for a refund which she refused to give me because "I didn't bring the salad back the way that I received" it but offered to remake my salad with the same HOT, BROWN, WILTED LETTUCE!! I've been to denny's quite a few times and this is my second time at this location. It's kind of a ghetto location to the point of needing a security guard. They don't do split payments the second time I went there for reasons I do not know and didn't bother asking. I wasn't quite that hungry so decided to purchase half size of the zesty nachos. When the order came out, it wasn't that appealing and wasn't even close to the picture. I know that it's not always going to look like the pictures at most American restaurant but this is beyond that. There was barely any meat in the nachos. I understand that they were a little busy but at least still make the food how it looks like in picture. If Asian restaurants can do it, then so can American restaurants. read more

Another table said cancel the rest of their order because everyone was done eating and they arent waiting for the rest. So after getting that half. We finished the eggs and hash. So it's now another 10 or minutes go by after she served us no food on the ready from the kitchen we got up. The made us wait after 2 others waiting to pay at the register BECAUSE another table in front of us had been there through our entire time waiting for their check so they paid at the register instead. Service is the worst. Took forever to place our order, longer to get our food. We had to get up to get our own silverware and syrup. Drinks were never refilled and my husband was never asked if he needed more pancakes which came which his order. When I spoke to the manager, she was rude and condescending. I can't do less than a star but the women in charge on Wednesday morning dam near kicked us out. The week before We told a different waiter we had 3 adults and two small children and she said she could not seat us because it's only 4 people at a time and I'd have to be seated outside it's like 40 degrees outside and they wanted me to seat my children outside. She got upset and gave me a whole lot of attitude and said well wanna talk to a manger I said Yes maybe your manager could make any accommodations and the manager said she understood they were children and let us sit inside. We'd continue to go with 5 people no problem. I went back Wednesday morning and they told us we couldn't be seated when we were the same amount of people from last time and my mom said what was the stupidity if they've let us and now all of a sudden they didn't real quick the manager medium size Mexican lady with glasses went into defense mode and started yelling and cussing at us in Spanish. So much for being professional we told her the manager has let us sit inside with 5 people because they were small children and she must of felt like she didn't have authority or something and started yelling that she was in charge that those were her rules trying to undermine the other manager that's her superior. I really think this place went to shit I've been going here for over 10 years and it's sad to see that the employees have no respect for the customers. I have no issue waiting when I know the restaurant is busy but needless to say there were only 5 tables and we were the biggest party they had (4people). Came out to breakfast with my husband this afternoon at this new spot. I can honestly say. I never even knew this Denny's was here, never mind that its been here for over 2 years. That was a bit shocker for me. Well I think that was a good move on their part, because a lot of people had stopped going to the old Denny's. I can't remember the last time I had eaten there. This new Denny's is nice, its nice and big. It reminds me of a Denny's that is in the Natomas area. I like the set up in here. The young people that work here are very professional. Our waitress name was Friendly. How cute is that? And I going to say for the record that she lived up to her name. She was an excellent waitress, very attentive and made sure we got what we needed. The food was ok, I ordered the T-bone steak with eggs and hash browns. My husband says that his steak tasted like a pork chop, but mines was soo tough, I couldn't even chew it. I asked for it well done and you got to be a great chef to cook a steak well done without over cooking it. I took my steak home in hopes that I could maybe put it in the oven and finish cooking it, but that didn't work out to well. Yea I like this new Denny's a lot and know that I will come back. I just don't think I'm going to order the steak again. If I'm not mistaken I believe that steak and eggs was like $14.95. That's a lot for it not to be cooked right and I hate when I allow them to serve me anything and not say anything. I jjust got to stop doing that. Eating out cost too much for that. Oh my! How could Denny's have gone any further down hill? I thought they had already fallen off a cliff and I didn't think they had any further to fall? I thought they were already as low as a restaurant could get, but I was wrong. Their new menu even makes fast food look healthy. This Denny's is new and clean and our waitress was friendly and tried to be helpful. Unfortunately, Denny's, with their new ghetto menu, has to be the most sodium unfriendly restaurant in America. They have absolutely no idea of what low sodium even means. When did over 1100 mgs of sodium become low sodium? Even the hamburger is pre processed food with the salt already added in extremely heavy doses. I sent our waitress to the kitchen to see if they had anything that was not pre seasoned pre processed food. She returned with the extremely sad news that the only thing on the menu that was not pre seasoned was the t-bone steak. I ordered the t-bone with grits instead of hash browns, eggs over easy, and dry wheat toast. It may have been dinner time but those were the most sodium friendly choices on the menu. Didn't anyone ever think to tell Denny's that a low sodium diet means less than 1500 mgs per day, not 1500 mgs in one meal? My t-bone steak was cooked to perfection but it had been salted and the quality of the meat could easily be compared to a pair of my leather tennis shoes. It was twice as thick as the leather in my tennis shoes and probably only half as tough and it was clearly better than the leather in my tennis shoes. I guess I won't be eating my tennis shoes in the foreseeable future. I wasn't given a steak knife but I am pretty sure that even a steak knife could not have cut through my steak. However, it was thin enough that a kitchen scissors may have worked. I loved my grits. They were not salty! I am pretty sure they were prepackaged frozen grits that were thawed out in a microwave. There wasn't anything creamy about them. They had a chunky consistency and had a wonderful hominy flavor to them. If I ever do come back, which I highly doubt since they don't have anything I can eat, I would definitely order the grits. Came here around 2:30pm with a friend of mine. We were seated in an area with literally no other people around us. It took 10-15 minutes for our waiter to come and take our order. As we were waiting, I couldn't help but notice a giant table that had not been cleared since probably earlier that day. Really? There are no other people here and you're never packed, what takes so long to clear a table? Once we got our food (I ordered chicken strips that were way overcooked with a side of clumpy mac n' cheese, so-so fries, and soggy "dinner bread"), our waiter told us that he was going on his 30 minute break. Okay, cool. He told us that another server would take care of us. After he left, no other server came to check on us. I felt bad for a couple who had just gotten seated and had been waiting a while to order their food. Good luck getting any service! After eating our less than mediocre meals, we got up to check out.
