I have come here about 4 times in the past 3 months. I must say the food has been exceptional each time. Also, the service was really awesome too!!! The first time i had a skillet and couldn't finish the whole thing! But the sausage was awesome! I think it was an apple kind. I typically don't expect a super clean Denny's, but this one is revamped and exceeded my expectations :) As far as the second time!!! THE POT ROAST WAS BOMB!!!! Oh my goodness, I haven't finished a meal that quick in a long long time. The garlic bread was perfect! The mashed potatoes were buttered and the roast fell apart wonderfully! Me and my fiancé will be coming back more often. We have chosen Denny's over IHOP and that is difficult to do! I don't understand why people bad-mouth Denny's. I like their food, they're always open, and the price is right. Whenever I drop my car off for servicing at Ingram Park Mazda, I always walk down to this Denny's. Because it's Saturday, the place is invariably packed with the families of newly graduated Air Force basic trainees. I almost always end up at the bar, which is fine with me because it gives me a panoramic view of the human parade. My standard order is the Lumberjack Slam: two eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, toast, hash browns and pancakes. It's always cooked perfectly. And the coffee is fantastic--keep it coming! The waitresses are always friendly, and it's just an overall pleasant experience. Something very cool happened during my most recent visit. One of the waitresses walked into the middle of the restaurant and asked for everyone's attention. She then pointed out all the new USAF airmen in the restaurant and asked everyone to give them a round of applause. The crowd went wild. I talked to this waitress later, and she said she does it every Saturday. Since so many of the Saturday-morning customers are from out of state, I think this waitress is performing a great service on behalf of San Antonio. I hope everyone who visits the Alamo City goes home with the same kind of good feeling that this must give them. So Denny's may not be a fancy or trendy pancake "haus" where the beautiful go to see and be seen, but I like it just fine. And I'll keep going back. We went in thinking that the wait was going to be horrendously long (due to it being the breakfast rush) but to our surprise we were seated in less than 5 minutes. After we were seated, we were promptly assisted with great service by our waiter, John G. He did a phenomenal job checking in with us and quickly providing anything we asked for. The restaurant to finally make me download the Yelp app. Walking in the floor was wet and the windows wet. We got here earlier in the day and were told to sit in a booth by our server, without asking if we wanted a booth or table. To preference why this is important is this was a family breakfast, my two children, my husband and myself who is currently very pregnant. We would have preferred a table but the way she told us to take the booth seemed to give us only that option. The booths aren't roomy at all so at 33 weeks pregnant is was a squeeze fitting. Immediately she was asking about drinks, I'm unsure when Denny's switched the kids chocolate milk to paid refills but with no time to view the menu we order chocolate milk for my kids and soda for us. Our waitress then was constantly checking if we were ready but once the meal was finally picked out we couldn't see her and she waited some time to get to us. She then brought the goldfish my son ordered ahead of the meal without asking resulting in some fussiness and sudden need to share the goldfish between my kids. We made some pretty straight forward requests like cheddar on my husbands burger instead of American because American cheese effects his stomach negatively. We waited some time to get the food and ever ordered a separate drink for my kids which took a super long time. Finally meals got to us, my husband didn't realize till later they did not switch the cheese to cheddar like we asked. My scrambled eggs were slightly under cooked as well as my son. My pancakes and my sons broccoli came out separately from the rest of our order and the waitress did not communicate with us on the fact she needed to grab them still or when she brought them to us the fact both were super hot to the touch. We finished what we could while smelling over done cleaning products and seeing them use a mop on the windows (yes the mop they used for their floors were being rubbed all over the windows) we finally checked out with attitude from the waitress. My husband ended up walking back in due to getting sick and the waitress even brought up the fact we didn't tip (we would have if she had been nicer and gotten our orders right) Seems to me you get treated well if your a regular but the adverage joe isn't going to have a good experience. (Also the cleaning of tables was lacking as I had to wipe dried cheese off the table before we sat down) 10/10 chance I'll never go back to this location. read more

Waitress was good but we had issues with our meals. My beef stew bowl the vegetables could have been better. Carrots didn't seem steamed they were a bit hard to bite. Pancakes came out great but two people in our group wanted shakes and it was out of order. Overall it is okay place to eat. read more

Waitress was nice. One of the ladies in the front, though, was not very nice, unfortunately. I should have left while I still had the chance because the food was not worth it. I ordered a chicken avocado burger and it was very well cooked. The only problem was the lack of flavor in my burger and fries. It felt like I was eating a tasteless chicken! We have been repeat customers of Denny's until we had the grave misfortune of frequenting THIS one. I ordered the veggie slam for a healthier alternative to dining out. After my second bite of the omelet, I decided to see what I was eating by opening the omelet. It was a loaded greasy mess! Like someone took a spoon and just threw veggies without bothering to drain any grease off of it! I took a napkin and tried to blot some of the grease off the inside of the omelet, but I quickly saturated an entire napkin. I requested more napkins to clean it up and make it edible, but while my waitress was bringing me more napkins and inspected the hashbrowns. When I realized that the hashbrowns were sitting in about 4 tablespoons of pure grease, I asked her to take it back. I was not putting that kind of fat and cholesterol in my body! Sorry...not going to do it for the sake of being polite. I declined to have them make me anything else. I mean, really? I don't want you people to touch my food! My husband had a hamburger that, honestly, look like it had been cooked earlier and then deep fried to warm it up! It was hard and crisp on the front, back AND the sides! It IS unfair, because I have had a million great experiences at Denny's all over the US, but one REALLY BAD experience and a complete lack of concern on the part of Denny's has left little doubt that I will NEVER frequent Denny's again. read more

First time in a Denny's for a while. This is a very nice location right by the highway. Very clean restaurant and bathrooms. I watched employees wash their hands very well. The food tasted great. The waitress was very polite and happy even for being awake so early, so that was nice to see. The manager that was at the front was very polite. The whole wait-staff was very kind to us. read more

Waitress was too busy flirting with a coworker and talking to other coworkers to the point where her tables were unattended. A lady at a table next to me had to yell for her check because she had been waiting long. I waited extremely long for silverware and condiments that my food was already cold by the time it got there...when I asked for it AGAIN. Already knew I was going to wait years for the check. Had a good breakfast and the people are very friendly and always making sure the people are happy with their breakfast.,manger, Lisa,Jennifer, Michelle Sylvia, John,Diana,and 95 percent of employees are wonderful. They are always making sure you are happy .not happy that you have to pay for condenses ,hot sauce.peanut butter, it's getting to be hard times and now you pay for everything you asked for. Very bad, service was putrid. First had to wait 10-15min to get seated when 3/4 of area was empty. The service took forever I guess they had to wait for the chicken to lay the eggs. Then the food was cold. They messed up my dads drink order, really dr pepper when diet coke was ordered? I am normally not a fan of Denny's, but being new to the area and it was right by my hotel, I decided to eat there. The service was great, the gentleman helping me was very friendly. While the food wasn't "phenomenal" by any means, it was very great for a Denny's. Everything was cooked well and tasted great. Ughh. My sister and I just got Food poisoning from here and we called them to see if we could get a refund. Me and my fiancé and friends come here often, normally it's great. However, last week was probably one of the worst experiences I've ever had, anywhere, perod, and it seemed like everyone around us was having a bad experience too. One woman got cold pancakes, but was too nice to ask the waitress to exchange it. It got cold waiting for the silver wear. We had to ask for ours also. We ordered the iced coffee, it tasted like water. Our waitress, Tamara (Tammy on her name tag) looked like she hadnt showered, made terrible coffee, never brought us our silver wear, and my fiancé hated his food. The guy behind us also did not receive silver wear. I won't be returning. Everything was just... Disgusting. Maybe they got new chefs or something. Get rid of Tamara please. Where do I start? It was our last day in San antonio and my family and I decided to have one last meal before we went home to dallas. We walked in and it was packed. But before that the parking is horrendous because people are illegally parked. Anywho, we had a party of 8 and so they got us seated with a waitress named charlotte. She took our order and everything was fine. It was until our food came and we asked for somethings like a refill on drinks and she then proceeded to tell us that she can't just wait on us all the time she does have other table to attend to. Then when she brought the drinks she slammed them on the table . Then brought our check and put one too many drinks on the check and then she got upset at us because she screwed up. Then we go to pay and the manager at the front was throwing my husband receipts and trying to force him to hurry up when the pen she gave him would not work. I like dennys but not this one.
