This place is ridiculous they are requiring guest to wear mask, but aren't supplying mask if the a guest does not have one. I understand it's the right to enforce mask but they should be providing mask as well then, and not being rude about it when the guest is asking questions. Today is my birthday and although I have another location I normally go to for the occasion I opted to try a new location to me and was pleasantly surprised with the aesthetics of this location, the service and the food. God if I could give this location less stars I would. There was white flakes floating in my drink and left over syrup on my utensils because they don't properly wash their dishes. The dishwasher (older man) was rudely and uncomfortable staring at my 15 year old little sister, then had the audacity to cat call her when she walked by. I paid for my meal by card and left no tip. When the cashier saw she asked if she was getting her tip through cash, I told her no and she gave me the ugliest look. Will never be returning to this location. Horrible. read more

This is one of the oddest Denny's I have ever been to, and that is saying something because I have been to Denny's all across the country in the strangest areas. Odd but well-mannered waitstaff, slow food service and we all got our meals at different times scattered around the table. Dining here was a very Twilight Zone experience although it's a location right off the 35 in a busy area of South San Antonio. My party barely ate and everyone was displeased with their dishes. I was a little confused by their dislike, since my Pumpkin Pecan Pancakes and Apple Gouda Sausage were absolutely delicious. I guess ordering the holiday specials is the way to go! They had a Santa's Milk & Cookies Milkshake that looked like it would be worth trying too, but I was already full from my meal. I couldn't stop shoveling the pumpkin seasoned pancakes with the roasted pecans in the center; however, I will say that I recently had a similar pumpkin waffle dish at IHOP wish competes very well with this one. For the good of the rest of my party, next time we'll stick to IHOP. Still, I personally think this Denny's is a super cool diner experience that I would repeated without them. We hadn't eaten all day, and went to this Denny's location. It was about 10pm, and the place was packed. We ordered a LOT of food. Salads, Kids meal, LumberJack breakfast, steak with shrimp. Our server, Santiago, was FABULOUS. He had half a dozen tables, got our order perfect, and never wrote down anything. In fact, he remembered us and what we ordered from 3 months ago! In addition, we got there at 955pm, and the free children's meal expired at 10pm. Santiago told us to quickly choose our children's menu so he could put it in free before 10pm! He kept our coffee cups filled, etc. I really don't think I can say enough good things about our server. The food came out in a timely manner. I thought we would be in for a long wait given how busy it was, but no! And everything was cooked perfectly!!! So, why a 4 instead of a 5? Because of the male manager. Wow. Talk about rude. As I was paying for the meal, I commented on how g reat our server was, and the manager just rolled his eyes and grumbled. I gave another compliment about the server, and the manager said, "Yeah. With Denny's there is always something new. That being said if you were ever disappointed in their selection then the next time there might be something new for you. Of course they are known for their breakfast, surprising I often enjoy their burgers and sandwiches. Because of their broad spectrum of food it is easy for my wife and I to find something we both enjoy. Service can be sketchy and at time the wait for food seem abnormally long. That being said I've never had any cold food and if my order was wrong it was fixed promptly. Over all this is one of two sit down, late/all-night places in this area and if you don't mind having to wait a little for your food and your company is good, this is the place for a late night stop. read more

Terrible customer service and subpar food the staff did not clear one dirty dish. waitstaff could be heard complaining about tips and working at outside jobs. if the staff actually cleared dishes and customers didn't have to ask for basic items like silverware and napkins then maybe you might make more. Since the Mayan Palace is nearby, we decided to have some good food before we watched a movie. Bad idea to go here for that. When you drive up to the parking lot, you can see the back part of the restaurant: dumpsters, workers smoking on their break, etc. As soon as we walked in, we noticed that there was a smell inside the Denny's. It smelled like feet and a bit of pee. Most of the tables were not clean, they still had plates on them from the previous party. We sat down and a few minutes later, the waiter came by and asked what we would like to drink. We told him we both wanted water. As we decided on what to eat, the busboy walked past and was talking to himself, LOUDLY, about all of the plates and cups he has to pick up. Very unusual but we tried to look past it. The waiter came back with ONE cup of water and asked what I wanted to drink. ...A glass of water. The place had about 6 tables taken and 3 other waiters there, so not that crowded. He comes back with my water and we give our order. I asked for the Double Berry Banana Pancake breakfast order and the waiter asked how i would like my eggs cooked, I asked for egg whites. Then he asks what the other person would like to order, never asking me if I would like 'sausage or bacon'. As we sat there waiting for our order, we began talking to catch up on our individual news but that was interrupted by the staff's very loud conversations and cackling laughter near the cashier counter. By far, the loudest people in the restaurant was the staff. A bit after, the waiter came out with our food (except for my pancakes, He said,'it'll be a just a few until it's done'). Excited and also hungry to eat some food, I was very underwhelmed by my side of egg whites, hash browns and bacon. The egg whites were sitting in a pool of oil, all of my hash browns looked burnt and my bacon (which I was never given the choice) was cold. Thank goodness my friend's food was 'eh' enough to consume. I barely ate any of my food. As I remembered that I had ordered pancakes and the waiter appeared with them as we were beginning to leave to pay, I had to take the pancakes (which i ordered 30 minutes prior) in a to-go box. One of the worst dining experiences. If you are willing to drive out of the way, the IHOP at 3115 SE Military Dr is a great place to have all day breakfast items. IHOP near City Base is very quiet, the service is great and the food is delicious. We had a woman on her first day working there, offer us her recommendations when she greeted us. Was there today for a late breakfast about 1030 am. Didn't take long to get a seat, maybe 10mins but once seated it took what seemed too long just to get menu's and give drink order. Once that was done, it took a good 25-30 minutes to get our food which to me was alittle too long considering the # of other patrons. On the other hand, the food esp their Belgium Waffle has always very good. I will note that one of the male staffers, not ours, was way to loud on the floor with his remarks, jokes and conversations on the floor and behind the counter. Would recommend inservice for staff on proper etiquette to include consideration for All patrons. read more

It's good. It's quick. It's surprisingly busy. I've never seen a Denny's this busy let alone on a Thursday, but we asked someone if this was a normal rush for a weekday and she said yes. So if you come, expect overworked employees, not much chatting with your waiter, and decent food. read more

One of Mom's favorite places to eat. She likes having choice of eating breakfast or lunch. We have been going to this location for years however this visit was not positive visit. Service was far from excellent. Upon arriving to be seated servers were complaining openly among themselves about customer concern. They were not paying attention to other waiting to be seated. Tables were not getting cleared quickly and service was poor. Appetizer were not timed accordingly and were cold when served. Lunch was okay but condiments were not available due to them not being filled. When we inquired about other condiments options they quickly replied we are out. Then, once we placed our drink orders it took the waitress another 10-15 to take our food order. It took 5 minutes to be seated when the place was half empty. It took 10 minutes for the waitress to as if we want anything to drink. Food was decent and arrived at a decent time. Our waitress walked by us 3 times without asking if we needed a refill and we had empty cups on the table. Even leaving took forever. I asked our waitress for a to-go box. Several minutes passed I ask another waitress walking by and she forgot finally I walked up and stopped someone and made them get me a box. Juanita took forever to get the the register. I usually eat here from time to time but, it was the overnight server Jennifer, who made the experience worthwhile. I, as a former hospitality worker am pleased to see someone who can engage with the customer as well as fulfill all job requisites as one in a tie and jacket establishment. It being late night, I am the the mercy of the night staff and I can only hope to attain the level of service I experienced tonight. Even if the food was sub-par, which is was not, the server's interaction went above and beyond my expectations.
