Going to Saltgrass is always a great experience, it is a really nice place for a celebration like a birthday, anniversary, graduation, or date nights. I went with my Family for Mother's Day and it was a lovely experience. However you like your steaks done they will make it medium rare or well-done and everything in between. The service was phenomenal, considering that it was a very busy festive Mother's Day the entire restaurant was taken care of by the wonderful staff. I love the lettuce wedge so much and the fried mushrooms, they give you complimentary warm bread bun with butter as you wait for your meal. We were greeted with smiles and hospitality and courtesy. I was so grateful to celebrate Mother's Day here and we left with tummies full and satisfied, I paid special attention to the boss lady manager, everyone was being orchestrated like a marvelous symphony. Went for a Galentine's dinner fire my first time at Saltgrass and I would definitely recommend! Zero wait time. Service was quick and very attentive! They knew the menu and recommended the pinnacle margarita which was very tasteful! No pictures of the food because we were hungry but there were no crumbs left behind. Ordered the 10ox sirloin with asparagus n Cesar salad. The only thing was since I'm a wheelchair user the table want able to accommodate me as well as I would have liked since the four leg table has a center post makes it difficult to sit underneath the table. read more

This was my first visit to any Saltgrass, so I did not know what to expect from this well-established steakhouse. We were seated for our reservation on time. The beautiful masonry and woodwork gave a nice quiet ambiance. The multiple game heads eerily stared at diners from everywhere, but there were no jackelopes in sight LOL. You can clearly see the kitchen tastefully behind a large window, so you know this is a higher caliber restaurant and that the food journeys are just incredible. I ordered a simple sirloin, smothered with mushroomsand onions, plus the strawberry spinach salad and loaded potato for sides. The steak was cooked perfectly. The strawberry salad was delightful and a new favorite. Now, for the bad. The pitiful potato was not loaded, though this was fixed promptly. I only needed water, but it took an awful long time before our water orders were brought before the other drink orders. Also, all the tables around us were provided with the breadboard long before we were finally given one. This, too, was fixed with a quick second breadboard. In all, I liked my experience with this place. We sampled each other's plates and everything was rich and tasty. If you're a fan of savory, this is the place to go. First thing we haven't been here in several years. Walking in it was busy, but we were seated immediately. +1! Browsing the menu apparently the prime rib has been removed, -1. Salads were fresh and tasted good. Nothing amazing, just slightly above average, but nothing to rave about. On to the main course, Pat's ribeye and the baked sweet potato. Both were outstanding, with the sweet potato quite possibly in the running for the best I've had. It really was that good! All in all, a very good experience. Quality of everything was at least a few steps above other equivalent steak houses in the area. Ambience felt like a toned down version of TX Roadhouse. It's the birthday boy! Back at it again with my annual birthday dinner. Got to spend it with 17 of my closest friends! Yeah I know 17 is a large group, but what can I say, guess this white boy got some motion. We have been coming to Salt Grass for well over 15 years. We normally go to the Donella or Bandera location. We were so impressed with the Huebner location today. First, our server Nico was awesome. He is the first server who has ever offered us egg and bacon on our salad. Yes it's an up charge but we prefer our salads with egg for extra protein. So we were blown away. Secondly, the steaks were cooked perfectly. And the chocolate cake was the best we have had at Salt Grass. Last time we tried it the cake was very dry. So over all we really enjoyed our food and the service was top notch by Nico. Another person that impressed us was the manager, Moriah. We are Landry Select members. Back in the day a manager always brought your card back to the table and offered you any rewards available or thanked you for being a member. That has stopped. Now your server just brings you the card and most times just applies your reward without asking. Moriah stopped by our table, offered us our reward and chatted with us. She checked on us a few other times. It was a great experience and we will most definitely be back to this location. We always love eating at the Saltgrass because the food and the service are almost always on point. We came at a good time near the opening so getting a table was easy and there weren't too many people. I'm so happy that they now have the option of a gluten-free bun for hamburgers. Not Recommended, read to the end! I always stay impartial, 5:30 Saturday June 14th. What appeared to be, the restaurant was way understaffed and overwhelmed for being the day before Father's Day. I won't get into how long it took for us to be seated even with making a reservation. Once we were seated, it took our server Micah a very long time just to greet us! He, seemed to be in a rush and overwhelmed. After sitting a while our server came by and took our drink order, and the waiting continued. With our entrees we all ordered wedge Salads to eat prior to main entree being delivered. Well we received our salads, and with in a few minutes we received our entree's, the four of us sitting at a small table, now we are so crowded, seemed the restaurant expediters were more concerned about getting the food on the table and getting off to the next one rather than taking anything with them. Out of the three steaks that were ordered two of them were very wrong. One ordered medium well came out rare, I'm talking blue and the other, which was ordered medium came out well done. Clearly kitchen needs some training. Here is the worst part of the whole evening, our server took away both steaks, the rare had a few bites out of, and determined it was un edible, what the kitchen did is, put the steak that had been eat on, back on the grill until it was cooked to what they thought was acceptable and brought it back. This is unbelievable to me that they would put somebody's germs back on the grill for someone else to be the beneficiary of someone else's spit.. When the steak was brought back, it was brought back by one of the managers, I specifically asked her is this policy of the restaurant to put a half eaten steak back on the grill, her answer unequivocally was yes of course. Now my question is, how many times have they done this through the course of the night. When it was mentioned that I was going to write about my experience here, the manager, Kelsey, just shrugged her shoulders and didn't care, so very sad but not a surprise given the attitude. Later, we spoke directly with Kelsey and sharing our horrible experience and appeared like she didn't even care, not even, I'm sorry. With a total understanding of health department protocols. Our server Micah, did amazing job dealing with uncaring managers, and a kitchen that had no direction or training. Just get the food out, even if it's not right! Training folks! I've always been recommended this steakhouse, but I don't like going to restaurants to have meals that I can create myself at home. I decided on my day off to give it a shot since my wife had wanted to get there. I ordered the cheese fries (which weren't really fries and more like wedges) and the 16oz ribeye, medium. The steak was varying doneness with one side being medium rare and the other being medium. The overall flavor was okay. The butter actually overpowered the steak flavor, which I wasn't too enthused about. The cheese fries were crispy and delicious, but I felt could use more cheese. The waitress was very nice, but she was very new. When asked about certain menu items and how much they were for add-ons, she did not know. This is nothing against her, as she was very friendly and whatever she did not know, she went to find out. I was, however, a little disappointed that our drinks were left un-refilled for a while. The interior is what you would normally see for a Texas steakhouse. Wooden tables, wooden floors, semi-dim lit interior lighting. It had a homely kind of barnhouse feel to it. Having gone to Longhorn after here, I've discovered that my personal preference would be to stick with Longhorn. The beer, which we asked for without a lime, came with a lime. We sent it back, requested a new beer. The waiter brought back the same beer, minus the lime. I told him, either you bring a new beer, or we walk out. He did, finally, bring a beer with no lime. The manager never came over during this entire episode.
