Yes, you read that right, and it is possible, although this has never happened to me before. The burnt flavor was terrible, black burnt, but apparently it's trendy. Yes, and it's also carcinogenic when the burnt comes from burnt meat, which I suspect may have been part of the burnt flavor. Since I am no longer able to go to my favorite steakhouse the Butcher shop because it changed hands and became something quite different than what it was especially food and the cost. So I decided to try a steak at my local Denny's the one at Midway and West Point Loma Boulevard in Point Loma. I had their T-bone steak dinner. It was absolutely delicious well cooked exactly to order seasoned very nicely, and was still juicy and not dried out even though it was well done there are several sides to choose from. I chose the french fries and the salad. The salad was great. It had lettuce, grape tomatoes, cheese, croutons And cucumbers and there was plenty of it. I had the blue cheese dressing, and it tasted like homemade. The french fries could've been a little crispy and saltier but nothing's perfect. I will definitely go back for that meal again. I also added grilled onions and mushrooms which are only $1.29 each, very inexpensive. I highly recommend this dinner. The service was great. I was asked if I needed anything a few times but not so many times that interrupts your meal. The food was served promptly. This is a nice surprise to find this quality of a steak dinner at Denny's that you would normally find at a steakhouse. read more

Also shout out to Dora, this waitress was kicking all kinds of ass during the promo. 95% of people were in there for the free beyond burger promo and handled it like a champ, she was kind and was on point. Good eggs and pancakes, staff is helpful, friendly and served us well, but I hardly had to fight for my discount - it was on the check, but not visable while paying by card, so it was a little challenge to get my 20% off, as promised. The restrooms were smelly and not overall clean. Like in nearly every Dennys restaurant it was sticky on all surfaces and just ok for a quick stay. This review is based on management alone. I took my vegan friend here to get a free breakfast for his birthday. We found out that there are no vegan options for free birthday breakfast items so I said I would eat the free option and pay for my friend to eat a vegan meal. The manager found out that I ate the free breakfast and refused to comp it. After arguing with him he decided to comp everything and told us he would never serve us again. I believe this is poor business practice since I was willing to pay for half and instead gave the money I would've paid to the server who was so sweet. Also, prejudice against vegans. Denny's isn't my first choice or even top 100 but we were on Shelter Island without a car and Denny's was close. Or a fast food place. So that narrowed out choices. I whined a bit but it was so close to that I gave in. Hubby ordered the Pot Roast. I take a bit longer than most to decide on what I want and the server took my husband's order then left-without waiting even a minute for mine. Not good. But I finally flagged her down after she gave checks out and chatted with someone behind the counter. They didn't have French Dip so I decided quickly on a Philly Cheese Melt sandwich...which I immediately thought was a bad idea. But the meals arrived. The Pot Roast looked good. There were 3 balls (hard balls) of mashed potatoes that made it look like more than there really was. But the pot roast was tender and flavorful. The mashed were thick and almost inedible. It also came with garlic bread that was delicious! The Philly Cheese Melt sandwich came with lots of meat and tons of veggies-including roasted onions and green peppers in the scary white liquidy cheese. I took a small forkful and have to say it was crazy good! I ate every single bite!! It came with fries and I picked seasoned fries but they weren't really seasoned enough for me but my husband loved them and ate most of them. I tried to wave to our server for water but hubs finally got her attention. She was the only negative about the place. All during the height of COVID this was our favorite Denny's restaurant that we wanted to support with hard working staff. Today was a complete disaster with staff running crazy and, after a 30 minute wait after being seated we finally got the attention of the manager who was flirting with a guy at the counter and thought they would send a waitress. We waited further to order water after flagging down a server ourselves. She came back with water and then disappeared. We decided to not wait since no one had come back to take our order. My husband (Andy) walked up to the manager and asked if he could get the phone number of the franchise owner. The man the manager had been flirting with said he was the owner and it appeared he wasn't interested in talking to my husband. Andy commented that it appeared they were short staffed and they needed to pay attention to their customers. He added, this was our favorite restaurant but we will not be returning until the management and ownership decided to get serious about customer service. When arriving home, I went online to submit this review but went to Denny's website which took me to a Apply for Jobs page. The West Point Loma store has four openings so they are clearly understaffed and the management is not focused on quality customer service. read more
