I don't wanna have to write this review, but I feel like it's much needed. I came here yesterday after being out. Like everyone else wanting to grab a late bite to eat. And I appreciate that denny's is open 24 hours. It was busy here of course. At first I was told by one of the staff members that they weren't currently sitting anyone because they had to fulfill to-go orders. So there I am waiting over 40 minutes in a line in the hopes to be seated along with everyone else in the line. Then as more people started lining up come to find out they weren't seating anybody because they had to fulfill all the to-go orders! And nobody would get to be seated and serviced until the to-go orders were fulfilled. This to be is a poor way of running an establishment on the staff part. Those to-go orders were not gonna stop anyways. So the fact that you're willing to stop running the store with people coming in to sit down and have a meal is actually unacceptable! You're a business. Thats part of the gamble. But this is NO GOOD. I drove to another dennys who took us no problem even being busy with other things. So I'm really disappionted how this location conducted their business under those circumstances. read more

Came here on Thursday night. Samantha greeted us and sat us right away. She was welcoming and sweet. Was patient with our order. And when i ordered T-bone steak she asked me if I want mushrooms and onions with it. It was so good with A1 sauce. No one ever asked me if I want it with mushrooms and onions. It changed the game. This location is situated in the heart of North Park on El Cajon. While it may not be a life-changing experience, you get exactly what you expect. And that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Accessibility and convenience. In this case, they were running a promotion for the launch of their plant-based burger - free with the purchase of a beverage. This 24-hour Denny's has been an awesome place for late-night study and work sessions. It's brightly lit, the booths are comfortable, the staff has been friendly and attentive, and there are plenty of drink and food options on the menu. We've started coming here every night to focus on work after realizing the closest 24-hour coffee shop on Park Blvd. has zero parking, is very dimly lit to the point of making us sleepy, and we had to wait before tables opened up inside. So far, we've never had to wait for a table at this Denny's and we've been able to get a lot of work done. read more

It is a pretty quaint diner. However always clean and our server Ilse was so attentive... not only to us but everyone. The manager, who I could've and should've asked for their name, just above and beyond outstanding! She seating patrons down. Making rounds and inquiring if help was needed; she was making sure the place was as spick and span -not just wiping down tables but picking up small trash here and there. Taking out empty dirty dishes! The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Service with a smile! Prompt serving. I mean this place is so packed ever since we got there and it still was when we left. I had been craving pancakes for days and came into this Dennys. The waiter greeted me as soon as I came in and took my order within minutes. The dining area was clean and so were the restrooms! This is on a Sunday evening. There were only a few of us customers inside so it was a nice and quiet atmosphere. I enjoyed my pancakes and my much needed coffee. The prices were also great. The worst customer service I've ever received. I went with my toddler and was immediately met with disdain. The counter employee was rude and sat us under the loudest speaker. The server came by and said "what do you want?!" No hello, no how are you. They did not ask how we wanted our eggs or what we'd like to drink. I hated my entire experience and do not want to return if staff are going to continue to be rude and unfriendly. Go somewhere else if you want to be treated kindly. Everything was a nuisance to them. This is one of the small, old fashioned Dennys that serves the community with friendly, courteous service. I love the old fashioned style, big windows, and tall open ceiling space. One of the left over spaces from the 60s/70s with style and character. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. Sometimes service can be challenges when overwhelmed, but I enjoy good service there. It's a great part of the North Park neighborhood! read more

You know sometimes you wake up just not feeling 100% after weekend shenanigans sooo we ended up at Dennys for brunch. I mean who doesn't love a grand slam from Dennys right? I will say the only bad thing I have to say isn't really bad because it was busy but it did take awhile to just get coffee and then another 15-20 mins for food but it's okay, it happens. The portion of eggs in the grand slam was huge and also had a ton of cheese which I didn't mind. I devoured the hash browns because they are my favorite and the pancakes were perfectly fluffy! If your going to Dennys I feel like you know what to expect and it was a good choice for a Sunday recovery brunch. read more

Oh 06/16/2021, I came to this location because it is currently the nearest Denny's, from where I live, that is open late at night due to things not being the norm because of COVID-19. Anyway, I've been craving their chocolate milk shake and chicken tender appetizer with Buffalo and ranch sauce on the side. After placing an order for the reasons I made a trip to Denny's, I also asked to have a cheddar cheese omelette with hash browns and wheat toast. The chocolate milk shake came out fairly quickly and it was delicious as usual. When the server brought out the chicken tenders, the only sauce she provided was ranch and she told me that she thinks they are out of Buffalo sauce but someone is out in the back looking for Buffalo sauce. Out of frustration, I asked the server "are you serious?" and she said she's still waiting for confirmation from the person checking in the back if they were really out of stock of Buffalo sauce. In just a few minutes, she told me that they really were out of Buffalo sauce. So I told the server, that I don't even want the chicken tenders since they don't have the sauces that I want. If the server told me that they were out of Buffalo sauce, I wouldn't have ordered the chicken tenders at all. Thinking that the cheese omelette could save this trip to Denny's, I took a bite out of it. Unfortunately, I was not impressed because the cheddar cheese did not have any flavor and it had a waxy texture. I added ketchup to the cheddar cheese omelette then took a second bite but there was no way to save this bland omelette that was served to me. Being that I was already upset, I decided to get the check and leave before I take my frustration out on the staff here at Denny's. It was nice of the server to not charge me for the chicken tender appetizer but I feel as if I also shouldn't have been charged for the omelette since the only food item that I enjoyed on this trip to Denny's was the chocolate milk shake. If I ever do return to this Denny's, hopefully the management at this location will be able to manage their inventory to ensure that all food items on their menu are kept in stock. read more

Decided to come to Denny's after doing Friday funday and I must say that the service was amazing. Once I entered everyone was super friendly and greeted me. They asked how many people in my party and sat us immediately. The server was actually the manager, Sam, and she was super friendly. She asked us how our night was and if we needed anything else at all. She paid attention to our needs and made sure that we were taken care of for our meal. The other team members were checking up on us as they passed by making sure that we had everything we needed. I appreciated the super amazing hospitality and friendly customer service. Too bad the rest of us couldn't get away with getting half off our bills. My shake had more milk than ice cream. I should have been billed for a large milk. My salad had warm yellow lettuce on it.
