    Choconana Pancake Slam®

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Spacious patio seating, and was able to get a table right away.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was good, and they refilled our drinks a couple times without asking. All the food was standard to Denny's and was fresh. I feel like the sausage links have shrunk over the years, but it was still tasty. My favorite are the choconana pancakes. To my surprise, I got hard boiled eggs which were actually warm and cooked fresh, unlike the typical refrigerated eggs.

Awesome tv setup for the world cup! The service was also super friendly! The food was good too. Thank you.

This Denny's has excellent and friendly service. Sat a the bar and right away Mr. Mario-Manager, asked what I wish to drink . Then Alan, came and took my order. To my surprise, not only did they have the regular CHOLULA Hot Sauce but also the GREEN PEPPER one too! That made my day! Mr. Mario, hank you for having an excellent Team! Blessings to All!

2023 Turkey meal cold but not dry

I have been going to this Denny's for MANY yrs. Always looking forward to their holiday turkey meal. Unfortunately, last yr. & especially today was a total disappointment. I was served a couple of pieces (not slices) of dry leathery turkey which was smothered in gravy as to conceal the dryness but tough & dry when turned over. I returned it stating I'd been served beef jerky. After another long wait I was served another plate. Somewhat better in the sense that the pieces of turkey had fewer dry patches. Broccoli was cold. total dissapointment, even more so as I now realize the slice of pumpkin pie is no longer included. I'm not one to complain. However, pie aside How Pathetic!

The service here is quick and friendly and they make sure you always have coffee and it's hot (and there is always plenty of cream, 2 big pluses in my book). There is a daily white board of specials with 4 or 5 things that aren't on the menu, but I always go for something Mexican because it's just. so. good. My go to is the huevos rancheros. That sauce is *chef's kiss*. I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered here. The big debate is biscuits and gravy or the banana loaf. Both are solid choices, but the loaf is great to take home. This trip the hubs got the Rambo special which met his approval. We both like our eggs over medium and they do them right here with runny yolks and cooked whites. We leave here happy and full and satisfied every time. This spot is a dependable staple that has earned its place in our rotation.

To start off with the parking was limited and it was only 9 am and the location was already busy. We were seated quickly and the staff was overall friendly and attentive. The whole restaurant had its own unique style very family friendly. We had the pancakes and chilaquiles. The chilaquiles were crunchy and fresh very good portion. Will be returning to try their banana bread !

I recently went back after many, many years away and I have to say that the current owners have done a fantastic job of keeping what was always special about the place while updating some of the less-than-stellar things that existed. I think the scaled down menu really does the place justice - because you can still get a Dick's Scramble, but they've kept the menu minimal so everything feels intentional and tastes delicious. It's still diner food, but that's exactly why you're here. The coffee is strong and hot, the eggs are fluffy, and the service is friendly and fantastic. Love the old photos of Costa Mesa everywhere and the outdoor seating for families with pets. Dick's is a staple of CM, and you can tell it will continue to be with this great for years to come. And yeah, still highly recommend the Dick's Scramble.

But come to find out after an hour later, the girl who seats you forgot about us. After being seated, it took another hour for the food to come out. Keep in mind, we ordered everything right when we sat down because we were watching the tables as we were waiting for ours. One thing we observed was how the front door worker was seating people. Party of 4 was seated with three tables. There was room to move the tables apart and seat others who had been waiting but that didn't happen. We came here for Mother's Day and it was packed but service was quick. Not sure what went wrong on staff for Father's Day but it was not pleasant.

June's (I believe they are changing the name back to Pop's soon?) is located off Main Street in downtown Santa Ana. There's plenty of paid street parking around, and they have indoor and outdoor seating. I would recommend sitting outdoor or in the left hand main room, because the right side where we sat felt like the overflow area that doesn't get attended too as frequently as the other areas. Service was nice in that everyone was pleasant and apologetic for the delays in service, however it took a very long time to get anything from a menu to a water refill. They also didn't pace the serving of food well, as my wife would get her food, and then I'd have to wait another 10 minutes for my meal to arrive. On the food front, the portions are huge. I got an omelette that tasted good, but was unfortunately made incorrectly. Their fried zucchini is fresh and also massive, you definitely get your moneys worth. I also tried the French toast which was just ok, it wasn't very flavorful but came in a large portion. The place is very no-frills, but still pretty good for what it is. I think this place is going through growing pains with the new ownership, but I would certainly give it another shot. If you're in the area and looking for a no-frills diner with big portions, then look no further than here.

I've been bringing my 3 daughters here for father/daughter breakfasts since then almost every Sunday. They saw my kids grow up here. My wife and daughters knew the servers and always felt like VIP. Since Pop's officially closed, we were initially saddened that our familiar meals were gone. The taste, flavors, and hospitality kept us coming back year after year. We have roots here and cannot abandon them. So of course, we came back to see if we could continue the legacy of this unique space. We've been back a few more times since reopening and we can honestly say, we're back!! The food is still great if not better. All the cooks stayed and the same food I love stayed as well. We have new servers that are working hard to make it feel comfortable. The ambiance is still amazing and stays true to what kept this gem alive for so many decades. Don't give up on places like this. It continues to strive to win their clients back and find new ones. Let's go June's!!
