June's (I believe they are changing the name back to Pop's soon?) is located off Main Street in downtown Santa Ana. There's plenty of paid street parking around, and they have indoor and outdoor seating. I would recommend sitting outdoor or in the left hand main room, because the right side where we sat felt like the overflow area that doesn't get attended too as frequently as the other areas. Service was nice in that everyone was pleasant and apologetic for the delays in service, however it took a very long time to get anything from a menu to a water refill. They also didn't pace the serving of food well, as my wife would get her food, and then I'd have to wait another 10 minutes for my meal to arrive. On the food front, the portions are huge. I got an omelette that tasted good, but was unfortunately made incorrectly. Their fried zucchini is fresh and also massive, you definitely get your moneys worth. I also tried the French toast which was just ok, it wasn't very flavorful but came in a large portion. The place is very no-frills, but still pretty good for what it is. I think this place is going through growing pains with the new ownership, but I would certainly give it another shot. If you're in the area and looking for a no-frills diner with big portions, then look no further than here.

Out-of-This-World Experience at Denny's! I visited Denny's on a busy Sunday morning when the temperature was already soaring into the high 90s. Despite the heat, the experience was nothing short of amazing! There was a beautiful shaded waiting area outside, and the owner herself was out there, serving ice-cold water to make sure everyone was comfortable while waiting. Such a thoughtful touch! Once seated, the service was perfect--friendly, attentive, and efficient despite the restaurant being packed. The food was cooked to absolute perfection, just as I'd hoped, and my coffee cup never went empty. The staff made sure it was refilled multiple times throughout the meal. This is the Best DENNYS EVER!! Every time I have been here, I have always had a wonderful experience with warm and attentive staff! But things got EVEN BETTER recently! I spoke to the manager Holly about a 6th Grade End of Year Breakfast we were trying to do at La Veta Elementary but we were low on budget. Holly and her team (including the amazing Luz) were able to organize and donate a pancake and egg breakfast for all 75 kids and even gave gifts for the teachers! They made this a truly memorable event for our 6th grader! Yes u can see how much this Denny's cares about the community and our children! Absolutely terrible service here. I come here often to pick up food, i usually get disrespected by the waiters here. Today i came in to pick up food, they had me waiting for 15 minutes. (I usually wait 10 minutes on average they are slow) For those 15 minutes i had my eyes on these bags on the counter. 15 minutes later guy comes out and hands me the bags sitting on that counter. Once again I must write a raving review of this Denny's! Mary is an excellent manager who works the floor and checks on the customers to make sure they have all they need. If you are a party of 1 or 15 she will make sure you are greeted and seated quickly. The restaurant is clean and the servers Letti, Ita, Ernesto, and Hugo are exceptional and make me feel welcome every time I visit. My friend and I came here last night for dinner and not only was our waiter excellent, the whole staff was as well! I like this Denny's restaurant. The food is always hot and fresh. I used to go to IHOP or another Denny's but I prefer this one since the waitresses are always friendly and provide quick service. In particular, a waitress named Lupita is very conscientious. She appears to be able to handle multiple tables without getting stressed plus she gets the orders straight. There is only one place in CA he gets his sandwich from, and that is Philly's Best Cheesesteaks. Their sandwiches are HUGE! And they are very generous with their meat. I usually get their Philly Hoagie, which is basically their same Philly cheesesteak but with lettuce and tomato. Loaded alongside generous portion of thin sliced beef, and melted cheese, I have to agree their sandwiches are good. I have yet to step inside their restaurant (we usually order it to go), but we have no problems ordering and eating it at home. The sandwiches are still warm and so tasty, even after the drive back. Their cheese fries and extra cheese sauce are also to die for. If you can't make it Philly, let Philly's Best bring back memories of their cheesesteaks for you. They are the best!

She was told that the traditional Philly Cheesesteak from the classic Geno's and Pat's is for the older palette and there are better options these days that have improved upon the original (still) delicious sandwich. Any way, The sandwich my wife got me was amazingly good, so the next afternoon I had to go grab an sandwich from Philly's Best just to do a comparison while the flavors was still fresh in my mind. As you see in my star rating, it was just alright, it's good, the bread was pillowy and the beef was beef, the cheese was gooey, but in comparison it just doesn't compete. It's been many years since I've had Geno's or Pat's, but I do remember Philly's Best being a very good option for a good Cheesesteak in the west coast. Maybe my tastebuds have changed. Maybe the owner/s of this franchise should go check out the Philly local scene and see what the other offerings are. All that said, I will still grab a sandwich from Philly's Best once in a while, it's bread, beef (mushrooms & peppers) and cheese. What's not to like as long as you don't tell your doctor.

Unfortunately, the response I received felt generic and did not address most of the concerns I raised and even contained repeated language, which gave the impression that my feedback was not fully reviewed. My concerns were not simply about one menu item. They included the frequent renaming of established menu items, the removal of long time customer favorites such as the fried shrimp, and the introduction of new offerings that seem to duplicate customizations that were already available. Changing names and creating confusion is nothing new for Rubios. In fact, the company has reinvented its identity so many times over the years that it sometimes feels like it is going through a long term branding midlife crisis. One year it is all about Baja, then it is Fresh Mexican, and now it is Coastal Grill. Consider the evolution: - Rubios Baja Grill (1980s through the 2000s): The original brand that introduced many of us to fish tacos and built a loyal following. - Rubios Fresh Mexican Grill (2000s to 2015): A rebrand focused on fresh ingredients and expanding beyond fish tacos. - Rubios Coastal Grill (2015 to present): Another rebrand designed to emphasize seafood and coastal inspired cuisine. At this point, the menu items probably know their names are not safe either. Imagine if McDonalds periodically renamed the Big Mac, Quarter Pounder, and Happy Meal. Customers would spend more time decoding the menu than ordering from it. Sometimes consistency is the best branding strategy. I also shared feedback about the Macro Bowl, which was introduced and then removed shortly afterward, seemingly because they don't have brown rice when you can add Spanish or citrus rice. The food quality remains excellent, and that is why I continue to visit Rubio's. However, consistency matters. Long time customers build loyalty around familiar menu items, predictable offerings, and a clear brand identity. I hope Rubio's pays closer attention to customer feedback and considers the perspective of customers who have supported the brand for decades. I remain a fan of Rubio's, but this was a disappointing customer service experience.
