Started our great, but got progressively worse,poor service food is so-so. Not really enthusiastic about the whole situation.

My wife and I visited Denny's in Simi Valley last Sat. afternoon. We are not at a Denny's very often and this was our first visit to this relatively new Denny's. We were extremely pleased with the service, choices, food, prices and experience. I had a salmon dinner, and everything was completely delicious. We can't wait to go back again. Denny's isn't a 5-star restaurant but if our experience is the norm, then I'm giving this one 5-stars because I don't feel right giving them 4. I'd say Denny's is highly underrated. read more

I love eating at this restaurant and I would definitely give it a five star, except for the fact that my family and I were greeted by a manager named Claudia! She did not smile when she greeted us and we asked if they had a booth and she said no and I had my young granddaughter with me and we're not used to sitting at tables. There was a half booth and the other half was with two chairs we asked her if we could move, she said yes but wasn't very happy. And then I went to go grab a different menu because what I wanted was on the other menu and she was very put off because I wanted also that menu. Had high hopes for this Dennys. We went after it opened and the food and service were great. We went again awhile back and the service was Ok and the food was fine. We went again on Thursday 12/28/23 and the service was non existent! We waited to be seated bcuz there was no one working the front desk. When we were finally seated the "waiter" that seated us acted like it was another thing he had to do that he didn't want to. We quickly found out that he was taking care of all the tables himself. Tho there were 2 other employees behind the counter spending the whole time chatting and enjoying each others company. Our "waiter" was obviously overwhelmed. It was ridiculous! People were getting up and going to get their own containers for their left overs. Others had to track the "waiter " down to get their check . And you could forget about any refills or checks on how things were n if you needed anything . I was just shocked we even got our food! When we were ready for the check . We waited for him to come by so we could catch his attention . But he was nowhere and when he was somewhere it wasn't near us . So I actually had to look up the restaurant on my phone and then CALL THE RESTAURANT to let them know we needed our check!! What a horrible experience!! The food was just Ok. Definitely NOT worth coming back for. Who puts one person in charge of Everything?? It's a bad customer service and just a stupid idea Even if it was empty inside. Which it Wasn't! It was full. Either way. How ridiculous! We won't be going back EVER. I hope the new IHOP doesn't disappoint! I'm glad it's their bcuz I think Dennys won't be around for Very long. What a shame! read more

These people love you. They give you your food and they are happy to give it to you. They make the food at the level that a local breakfast shop should be made. I had a great experience at Denny's Simi 2.0, and would recommend that you try it out. read more

Came here on 6/24/23 and was curious about this place since it's newly opened. The service here was horrible and understaffed. The food was just as horrible. The manager lacked customer service skills and does not know how to manage, she could have stepped in to help the understaffed servers. Personally, I wouldn't recommend wasting money coming here. read more

HORRIBLE PLACE TO GO. I've been four times cause my kids like dennys. Three times inside and one time take out. Three times I dined in I waited almost an hour to get menus after being told to take whatever table myself. The maintenance person had to stop and ask if anyone gave us menus and started to get my order! Then take out. Cause I refuse to go back in. Half my order was missing. Still charged me. And every time I try to call or speak to someone I'm hung up on or ignored. So not only did they steal with no sense of returning my money for the missing food. The service is just horrible. The ppl working here have poor customer service. I phoned in a pick up order and was hung up on the first time. I had to Call back 3 more times just for someone to answer. I was told I was lying when something was missing from my order and the food smelled gross I was given as a replacement. I just threw it away I was so disappointed and disgusted. read more

We went for an early lunch and both of us decided to get breakfast. The eggs and hash browns were very good. My toast was only partially toasted so I only had one bite. It wasn't busy, so it gave us a chance to sit and talk without a server hovering over us. On the other hand, no one ever came by to see if we wanted anything else or if my friend wanted more coffee. I asked for the bill and they printed a "receipt" from their handheld computer and acted like that was a weird request. I don't know how they would ring you up if you don't get that. As the food was really good, I will eat there again if the opportunity comes up. read more

I love this location!!! My boyfriend and I come here almost every weekend at night and we love the staff and food! The food is always great and the staff are always so friendly. The manager, Claudia, is truly one of the sweetest people ever! She is always helping out her staff while always keeping a smile on her face. We constantly come back because of her and the quality of service. We will definitely be coming back! So happy Simi has a Denny's again! read more

Had breakfast on a Sunday morning. Long wait ( about 30+minutes) but once seated had quick efficient service. The eggs, pancakes, and coffee were delicious. Since the restaurant is pretty new at this location, I think they did a good job handling the large number of customers. The restaurant is clean and nice decor. Prices are reasonable. read more

Terrible service. Waited 40 minutes to be seated when there were 4 open booths. I asked to be seated in one of the booths after 5 minutes of arriving and was told they couldn't seat us there only to be seated in that same booth 30 minutes later. My wife and I decided to take a chance and go for lunch on opening day (10/31) Monday. We got there at about 11:30 and were surprised it only took a few minutes to be seated. Took a few more minutes to get the menus and our drink orders. We knew what we wanted so we ordered our food at the same time he took our drink order. Food arrived hot about 10 minutes later and it was just fine, order was correct and tasted great. We miss the old Denny's on Sycamore and are glad this one is finally open. We will be back several times a month. The staff is trying very hard, if they mess up, give 'em a break, they've only been on the job for a couple of day. read more

I had a simple breakfast, the order was wrong twice, I ordered the eggs Benedict and watched my order sit under the heat lamp for almost 10 minutes, it sat so long the Hollandaise sauce developed skin. They were stingy on the Hollandaise sauce, eggs were over cooked so much there wasn't even a yolk. First and last time coming to this Dennys. read more

Worse place EVER! The old guy at the front desk tells us there's a 45 min wait. After waiting 1 hour, we went to ask how much longer. He then says he will sit us but that it will be another.... ready.....2 HOURS to eat!!! What????? Who is managing this place? Horrible service. Waited and waited to order. Then waited for silverware. Waited for check. Food ok and hot. But service is a nightmare.

Just don't go. Food was horrible, can't meet cheese for a grilled cheese. Didn't provide intensive or napkins until the third time we asked.

Was happy to see Dennys back in simi valley. The fact that they're open 24 hours comes in handy every now and then. I have been here only once and, although the service could have been a bit better (no utensils nor napkins when food came out and no notice of empty drink cups), the food was good and im going to come here again. I RARELY leave reviews. ...but today I feel compelled. I took my two sons to Denny's because, well, they had never been to one. I figured that this being a brand new location we could experience it before it turned into a typical Denny's. Join me on this journey: Even though it seemed packed we were sat almost immediately, which was nice. Unfortunately we were sat directly under the lit "Simi Valley" sign. Now, I think the sign looks cool...but when I say "lit" it is an understatement. Every letter has at least a dozen light bulbs and every light bulb seemed to be a 60 wall equivalent (probably a 40, but still). The immediate joke was that we forgot to bring sun glasses and sun screen. They seriously need to put a dimmer on that thing. After an appropriate amount of time our waiter took our order and brought us water. ...then we waited. The place was busy...but we seemed to get there on the downhill side of their rush. It took, probably 15-20 minutes to get three signature Denny's meals out of the window. The waiter brought them over and asked if there was anything else we needed. "Yes, can we get some silverware and a side of ranch?" I asked. Perhaps what I should have said is "Could we please get some silverware and a side of ranch BEFORE you bring those people over there their coffees, that other table their sodas and then take the order from that table that just sat down?" In retrospect, that is what I should have said...but I didn't realize it was necessary. It was. 5-8 minutes later my son got up to ask someone else if we could get some silverware....our waiter seemed to clue in and finally brought them to us. "I will be right back with your ranch" he said. In retrospect I should have read the subtext and understood that he meant "I will be right back with your ranch after I bring that table some drinks and another table all of their food" and then presumably "and play a few rounds of touch football in the parking lot with my buddies." Okay, he didn't do that second thing...but he also didn't bring the ranch until I was done eating the food I wanted it for. During this entire ordeal our water glasses were doing their best CA reservoir impression and drying up. FINALLY he came by and asked us if he wanted more water. We said yes. This is where it got a little weird. He collected our glasses...left with them, refilled them and then brought them back. Now, these were my sons...so, if I didn't end up with my own glass, no bid whoop...but had I been there with anyone that I didn't feel like swapping spit with I am not so sure I would have accepted the refills. There is a reason why you generally either get fresh glasses of water or get your glasses refilled AT YOUR TABLE. But alas, we got our food and drink. The food was...well, Denny's food. It was EXACTLY what I went there for. Nothing more, nothing less. The only issue with the food was the lack of utensils to eat it with. So, we finished....and you think that would be the end of our epic tale...but alas, it wasn't. We were at that point of being so done with our meal that all of the dishes were arranged in a nice, neat stack in the middle of the three of us. We practically had bussed our own table....and yet, we sat. After about 8-10 minutes I literally said to my boys that if I didn't get a check soon we were just going to go to the cash register and say we have been ready to pay but don't know why we never got a check. It was at that minute that the spidey-sense of our server kicked in and he approached and asked if we would like a check. "Yes. Please." is what I said. What I SHOULD have said, on retrospect, was "Could I PLEASE have a check before you take coffee to that table over there and serve food to that other one?" I am CLEARLY not a fast learner...for I did not say those things. I finally saw him run a tag and realized that our adventure would soon be coming to a close. He brought the bill and we got up to leave the warming glow of the light-house that was our table. You know the front of the house where a nice manager asks you how your experience was? Yeah, that guy could not have been less interested in the quality of service. He did ask. This is how it went down: "How was your service today?" "Well, to be honest, every aspect of our experience today took WAY more time than it should have. It even took out 10 minutes to get our bill." "....ohhhkay. Well, hopefully it will be better next time." Who said anything about a next time? A little presumptuous there, Manager guy, don't you think? Someone CLEARLY missed the the "how to feign like you give a flying fuck" module on their "Congratulations, you are an Assistant Manager at Denny's" training videos. I wasn't expecting him to comp anything but he could of at least offered empty platitudes. He did not. In case you couldn't guess, we are not going back and I would not recommend. 2 stars for the food, zero for the service. read more

me and my friends all ate here when they first opened not too long ago. my friends arrived late and when it was clear we were ready to order it took us almost an hour for a waiter to take our orders. Not nearly enough staff appeared to be present in the kitchen and among the waiters. shortly after finishing our meals all of us got diarrhea shortly after finishing our meals. I HIGHLY suspect that four food was undercooked as our sausages had a weird texture to them and tasted weird. This was no doubt a result of the kitchen staff having to rush because there were more orders than they could keep up with. I'm not going back there anytime soon. Maybe in a year when they've had time to properly train and staff the business I'll give them another chance but after the experience I had I'll be sticking with beeps until Simi Denny's has a chance to clean up their act. read more

On Sunday January 22nd I ordered $ 31.00 of food. I called and spoke to Greg. I indicated I did not get any any eggs with the grand slam. I got. biscuit and two pieces of sausages. I called and asked for a refund for a $4.69 orange juice. Greg told me I have to bring all the food back. Excuse me Greg my child is already eating the food. I just wanted money back for the orange juice. My bad for buying the orange juice at Dennys. Never again!!!!! read more

It's wonderful to have Dennys back. I understand being a new business and small location it will take time to get things running smooth. I like the open layout, also spacious. i've given this place 2 shots, and this was my last straw. Tonight I ordered online the "plate chicken lickin fried chicken" the "oven baked lasagna" and the "lumberjack slam". Simple order right? We thought so too. The server gave us the food and we went about our business and drove home. We get home, table ready, and we notice a meal is missing and a whole other issue with another. Our server failed to mention that 2 out of 3 of our items had issues. First off, there was no lasagna, second of all, the fried chicken is supposed to be patty style like a chicken fried steak with gravy and they gave us CHICKEN TENDERS and no gravy. When we called, the person on the phone told me the lasagna was there at the restaurant and said they ran out of the correct style of chicken. Keep in mind this was never mentioned when we picked up our food. I went back to get the supposed lasagna that was there and he then shares with me that they never had it... so we lie to a customer, they don't communicate to the customer or amongst themselves apparently. We decided to return the food and get a refund, and moved on. For chicken tenders I can go to Mcdonald's. This place has a complete lack of respect for customers. read more

Have been to this Dennys twice. First time for lunch. Service was bad. Food was bad. Ordered Nachos. It looked like they put salt and pepper on the chips. They were so salty I could barely eat them. Second time we went for breakfast. I had to ask for water 3 times before I got it. I ordered a side of country gravy. The small dish they always use wS only half full. It was terrible. The waiter took orders at all his tables before he turned them in to the cooks. He was serving coffee but no utensils. So you couldn't stir your coffee. I will drive back to Moorpark like I used to. I know the service and the food is worth the drive. read more

I've visited 3 times and probably won't be back. First time, the waiter brought our food and we never saw him again until we were finished. When he asked how the food was, I told him I probably would've returned the eggs if he had returned, because they were over-easy, and not medium. He actually argued with me as if I don't know the difference, until I finally said the whites were snotty and runny! The yolk should be runny but not the white! Second time, dfferent waiter but same thing. Hardly anyone there, but after seated for almost 7 minutes I finally asked for a cup of coffee. Again, the unfriendly waiter brought the food and didn't return until long after we were finished. I finally asked the bus lady for a 2nd cup of coffee. 3rd time, the waiter was very attentive! He was great!! But the food, not so much. The "poached" eggs on my Eggs Benedict were hard boiled and the English muffin was very hard to cut through. My stepfather's over medium eggs were completely hard, as well. A couple of these waiters need to be a bit more friendly and attentive, after bringing the food, how about coming back a few minutes later to ask us how everything is going? And the cook can use some tips on how to prepare eggs. read more
