Visited the Denny's today and had wonderful service. Brought my kids in and the staff was patient with us. My son was also dressed like a chef and the server went out of his way to get my son a name tag with his name out of it. So cute! The restaurant is clean, great interior decor and comfortable. We had a HORRIBLE experience at this location with a specific server. She said her name was "IRAN", but I doubt it. Our family (of 7) wanted to celebrate a special event today. Something we don't normally get to do, but our appetite was ruined. The server did not greet with a smile or any kindness at all. She seemed upset for no reason. She was VERY RUDE. She got our order wrong. We said no eggs on a plate and she gave us eggs. When we mentioned it again to her she said "you guys can share". We mentioned yet again that we didn't want eggs (what if our son is allergic??). She said "I'll take them off then". My husband replied by saying "we can do that too, but that's not the point". Before that we asked for straws and she basically threw them on the table as my husband was going to reach for them. Seriously?! We spoke to the manager and she was very polite and agreed that that was unacceptable so we appreciated that. She did give us a discount, but honestly the food wasn't very good either. Two of our teenagers did not eat their meal because it wasn't appealing. I myself lost my appetite and we left deflated. It's sad because we wanted to support Denny's since it's a classic and we wanted to have a nice time as a family, but its a first and last for us. read more

I'm a busy mom of two, who works in the medical field full time and runs her own business outside of the medical field so the fact that I'm taking the time to write this review should say a lot. On 5/17 at 11:27 pm my husband and I visited Dennys to grab food. It was our 11 year anniversary and it was the worse day ever for us-NOT as a couple but as individuals because of outside strains.....but the highlight of our day was our last chance at peace before we ended 5/17 with a visit alone to Dennys. First William the server was amaze. He was quick, attentive, professional, and excellent at multi-tasking. Alexa was killing it in the kitchen. The food was hot but not at a dangerous temperature, at the perfect temperature. The flavors of our meals were so distinct that you can tell she put thought and passion into what she was cooking. I was very surprised to meet her and see that she was a female and young, I was extremely impressed. Jesus the busser was on top of his game. It was really busy that night and you can tell your location was short staffed BUT IT never felt like it. Jesus was bussing tables as people walked out and he was also being a team player by assisting with refilling customer drinks and grabbing little things like ketchup or ranch for the guests around us. We're long time Moorpark Dennys customers as we never minded the drive due to the service we received there.......BUT Simi officially won us over. I know it's a new location, but other than the location needing more staff........the staff they currently have is promising. The restaurant was very clean, and each employee did their part but hustling hard! The food is always cooked perfectly and taste fresh. We come for breakfast almost every weekend, and always receive exceptional service. Particularly from our servicer Alejandra Larios. We waited 45 minutes for our food (which was fine) but when our food arrived it was cold, my eggs were still raw, toasts weren't toasted at all- so I asked them to toast more and they brought them back burnt! OPENING DAY WAS GREAT, We decided to beat the crowds and came in the afternoon, we knew the evening was going to be a different story. Upon arrival we were greeted and sat immediately, our host was great and gracious, also a few staff were staff at coco's so people recognized them and it was very special encounter, something making this Denny's a nice community gathering place. The decor and ambiance. It's nice and modern, definitely away from the classic Denny's we knew in the 90's, it had a modern dinner vibe, open concept and the decor and artwork was customized with Simi valleys art. Our server arrived took our order and within minutes our food was ready, we had breakfast for dinner, pancakes were amazing, the bacon razor thin but delicious, the omelette was super tasty, flavorful and nice portioned, the orange juice falls flat, it's Minute Maid and it's says it in the menu. So, normally I would give this place a 5 start review if I could - hear me out on my experience tonight The food was on par with what my boyfriend and I had asked for. I didn't get anything out of the ordinary, nor was my food messed up in any sort. There was no problem with how my food was served Location was nice, clean, and approachable as normal, so no need to worry in the sense of ambiance. Our server was the problem tonight. Normally, I never have issues with our servers or waiters who help, but our server this specific night (aka tonight as I'm writing this review) was my issue. He was helping out several tables after our table, as well as not once checking to see if our meals were okay. My significant other and I had to flag down another staff to get our server to even get our order in because of how long we waited. (I don't know if y'all had this experience with the same server by the name of Andres, but if y'all did, please let me know. When they first opened they had the usual issues of a new restaurant like slower service and missed ordered items. Now that they are more established I see the service has improved. My first visit to this Dennys was horrible went for breakfast and the waitress spent more time doing nothing then her job. Waited till my food was half eaten to bring the ranch I had to ask several times for. Also had to ask several times for a refill on the coffee. Tried them again last night 5/19 and our server Matt was amazing. He was on top of everything! He was very personable and made sure we were taken care of. They definitely need to clone him! Food was pretty good as well, way better than my first visit. My take if you want good service and good food visit after 11pm and make sure you sit in Matt's section. read more

The place looks nice, Ill give it that. The place seemed to of needed a soft opening... Came in on a Tuesday evening and saw a line. Figured it wouldnt be a terrible wait but 45 min later and i was still waiting. Finally got sat as i spent time setting up a smart watch on my phone (yay for free wifi). Once saw we were given our menus and waited another few min before someone cane around and said theyd be with us. Proceed to wait another 15 min..no drink order, no follow up. I think what disappointed me most is that whomever was the store manager is not going around asking about the service, how the food tasting, asking to ensure orders are placed. Let's get to the food, "Pancakes that were flat and burnt served on a salad plate leaving no room to add syrup without it running over onto the counter and I'm pretty sure my daughter could of made a better stack of pancakes from her easy bake oven" My biscuits and gravy was one Hard as a rock biscuit with NO gravy. I said I have no gravy. The server said oh I will get you some, he brings it back with a spoonful of none flavor gravy on top. We left in shock and will never return.
