Scary. The only word to describe what it must be like to work at this location. I honestly feel bad for anyone who has to deal with two chefs yelling at each other while not getting at food out. In-fact, two different parties left in the time I was here waiting for my food. In-fact, there were two or three moments during my wait where I actually thought to myself: "do they (the chefs) actually work here?" Although my food was great (I had been craving a good ol' Dennys Breakfast for a week), I hadn't expected the service to be so slow at 11:30PM on a weekday. The Hostess/Cashier and ONLY waitress that night did a superb job trying to keep an obviously incompatible kitchen staff working... to the best of her and anyone's else ability. I am giving a 5 star review for 3 reasons. 1) Service: We were seated in a timely manner, our waitress (Carrie) was fantastic. She was always checking on us to see if we needed or wanted anything. (5 stars) 2) the table was clean, the floor was clean, and the music wasn't blaring loud. It was a very relaxing atmosphere. (5 stars) 3) I ordered the bacon slamburger with an over easy eggs, and fries on the side. The hashbrowns were cooked perfect on my burger, the egg was perfect so that when I cut my burger the egg yoke drained all over my burger. Its what I like, the burger was delicious its one of my favorites and they nailed it (5 stars) This dennys was better then a lot of places I have been too, even previous denny where my order was screwed up. One word to describe the service at the location, Awful. After arriving on a busy Saturday, myself and my 5 month pregnant wife came to the Springfield Denny's for lunch. We were told there would be a short wait, so we sat down with around 10 other People waiting for a table. After 20 minuets (3x as long as we were told for seating) some loud mouth gentlemen, came and pointed to empty seats that had just bet cleared and loudly proclaimed "I'm hungry and want to eat now, I'll take those two seats" and proceeded to sit himself down. Hostess did noting, let him jump 12 people who had all been waiting quite a bit of time and sat him down. Is this how is works? You have to be pushy and rude to get a table here? I also can't believe I'm reviewing Denny's....I guess cause this experience wasn't the greatest. Every few months my parents come down to see the kids and have breakfast. My father still has the "king" rank when he's around. He's a simple man who enjoys beer, hunting, fishing and the outdoor channel. That said, he isn't anyone who you'll see ordering vegan or veggie anything.....Denny's it is. As I'm loading up on Prilosec, the hostess says the wait will be about 5 minutes. We sat there patiently and waited....and waited...and waited. Cutting to the point, we waited 25 minutes to eat....at a flippin Dennys. There's places I didn't wait that long to eat in Vegas!! I do have to say I inherited my fathers tolerance when my patients have been exhausted. The lady came up to us about 15 min into our wait and asked if we wanted to be seated separately. I replied, "We are all a FAMILY here...and we would enjoy eating breakfast TOGETHER if that's ok!" The lady explained to me how some people dont mind it at all. Hmmmm.....Ok? I never heard of that one....but then again...I was pissed waiting 20+ min at a Dennys for a poor attempt at breakfast. Long story short, they finally had a larger booth open and we got seated. The lady said she was SOOOO sorry for the wait that she wanted to give us a few glasses of Orange Juice for the trouble. Thank god for an internal monologue....It allowed me to get more frustration off my chest. our waitress knew of the long ass wait we had, and to be honest....she shined. She did an outstanding job and we were really happy with that. She's better off finding a new place to waitress at because she's not Denny's material. She was a great waitress. Hence the 2 stars...they belong to her. If not for her it's a fatty ZERO everytime. ok ok....the pancakes weren't bad...but still.....MEH! read more

First things first, I arrived at best western right next door to this Denny's as I was traveling for work in my big diesel truck, they had no parking for me and kindly Denny's said I could park it in their parking lot in the back! We go to Denny's quite often for breakfast as its close and usually friendly. However, this morning around 10 am we were very disappointed. The service was unusually unfriendly? Never had this waitress before. One of us had coffee and was never brought a re-fill or asked if we wanted one until we were getting up to leave. the scrambled eggs were NOT SCRAMBLED, they might have been twirled while they were cooked and the whites NOT incorporated into the yellow. The white part was like snot and runny .. Ugh. Maybe a new cook who doesn't know what scrambled eggs are supposed to be. The waitress asked if everything was ok and when I mentioned the eggs, her reply was "well we now use "real" eggs. Wonder what they used before? The hash browns we only cooked on one side? What is going on Denny's? To scramble eggs, you put them in a bowl and beat or whip them, you don't put them on the grill and half stir them. Denny's Gateway is another big disappointment in our local area. And this is another large restaurant chain that's located is a great area, Beltline and I-5. We were seated fairly quickly, but they were under staffed. The food was so-so. Wait person nice, but frustrated the position she was put in because of management's greediness not to have enough help. After several months we decided to go back. It was even worse. Our visit being fairly early again and not busy at all, but some wait staff couldn't get it together. We have been to other Denny's and have had excellent service. My experience at this Denny's was terrible. After my family was seated around 6pm, it took the server 20 minutes to get our water and another 20 minutes to pick our order. Then, it's another one hour and fifteen minutes waiting time. It was hard to understand since there had been less than 10 tables even at the peak time. During the long waiting time, the server never stopped by to re-fill the water or even ask us for anything. When I came over and asked for refilling the water, the server was acting very rude and blaming us for not being patient enough. In addition, the tables were not clean and some food and oil remains can be seen on a new served table. read more

I got sick from eating there, there is nothing else to say. I went in early in the morning after finding IHOP closed again. I ordered the grand slam, eggs, bacon, biscuit and hash browns. The bacon was greasy and maybe not cooked all the way. The eggs were fine and the biscuit was pretty good. The hash browns were a little burnt. I ate and left. I started to feel sick to my stomach about two hours later and threw up most of the meal and felt sick the rest of the day. Don't eat here unless you want food poisoning. read more

Visiting my mom here in Oregon I decided to take her out for breakfast at Denny's. It wasn't what i expected. Services was horrible the waiter kept us waiting for a good 10 mins while she being the cashier. By the time we got seated placing our order was another 10 min wait. By the look of it most of the people that was seated around us got up and left since there was no table service. I drank about 5 cups of coffee till we were able to order. Our food took about an 1 hr 1/2 the food wasn't that great either. It wasn't worth coming here on 4th of July could have gone to IHOP and got better service. read more

So, I went in today, and it was pretty busy. I was seated realetivly quickly, and my server was very quick at receiving my order. After about 20 min pass the tables seated after me start receiving their food. I wave the server down, and he found out my order was lost. He quickly puts it back in and about 12 min later I get my order, but it's wrong. The server was very quick to correct the problem. My big issue with the food was that the steak had a pork taste to it, likely from another customer's order. The mashed potatoes were lukewarm at best and very gummy. The server was alright even though he made mistakes he was very polite and knew how to fix the situations. On the other hand, cooks have 1 shot to keep a customer, and what they served me wasn't worth what I paid. I would come back for that server, but not until those cooks understand proper American diner food. read more

Food has always just been.. food. It's a good place to get together with the family. Always pretty busy and parking can be kinda hard. The staff is okay. Some are nice, some are iffy. Prices are decent and so are the selections. Nothing special. The only real complaint I had was when my mom asked for slightly runny eggs and the cook looked at her and said "You can scramble eggs and still make them runny?" Kinda made me laugh. read more

This place was clean, and staff was friendly. I got my food very quick after ordering. It's a Denny's, so the food is pretty standard. If you like pumpkin products, may I recommend the pumpkin cream pancakes? They were cooked very delicately, and the cream topping had just the right amount of pumpkin spice. read more

Driving from Lacey, WA to Florence, OR we decided to stop to get breakfast at this location. The service was excellent since we got there. We got our drinks right away and kept refilling them on time. We ordered biscuits and gravy with eggs and hashbrowns. The biscuits were great and the eggs were excellent. OKURRRRR. So Denny's is an awesome place! This was my first time going and so far it's been pretty fun. EXCEPT for this one waitress who is honestly SO RUDE! She interrupted me to tell me that she was leaving, she's ignored our table multiple times, and she has the most unprofessional & Inappropriate attitude too! Her name is Lisa. Then there's the manager I assume who came to our table and SHE IS THE SWEETEST THING EVER! SHE HAS AN AMAZING PERSONALITY AND IS KIND TO US. Do not ever order nachos at Denny's. The nachos were disgusting. Now don't get me wrong, they are a fine place to grab breakfast at a cheap price but those nachos made me sick. The cheese was almost non existent and the meat tasted like week old chili. I came in once before and could not be seated because I needed a table with a plug-in for a laptop and they had seated guests with no laptops at the only two suitable tables. They did not seem terribly sad to turn me away. I came back again to give them another try. This time I was seated promptly. My server was very polite and the food arrived quickly. Everything was going wonderfully until I realized I forgot my wallet. Not knowing what else to do I left my laptop as collateral and drove home, picked up my wallet, drove back and paid for my food. Now that they had the money in their till I was immediately told I had exceeded my two hour time limit and was asked to leave the restaurant. The server seemed honestly to feel bad doing it and I got the distinct impression it came from his manager. So be warned, your laptop may need to have a good battery. And most importantly, whatever you do, don't dare be a human being like the rest of us and make some foolish mistake. Forget your wallet and it will REALLY piss them off. In retrospect, I'm surprised they didn't just call the police on me the moment I left the restaurant and charge me with theft of food - it would have no less rude. The servers are good people, but the management are clearly not. I'd recommend eating somewhere where they like their customers. read more

We went here at noon on Memorial Day. It was very busy, and they only had one waitress for the whole dining room, so it took forever to get our order. I do not blame the waitress, I think the blame is on the lousy manager for not scheduling enough help . It was my husband's birthday, so we stayed because of his free meal. oy, i can't believe i'm writing a review of denny's. hell, i should talk though; i wrote one on shari's a while back. this was a decent experience though.... we pull up on a monday morning around 2am. i'm famished and our leftovers from the previous night's gathering were already going bad from being in the car for 12+ hours so into denny's we enter. i find a cheap salad, grilled cheese and cheesy fries to make a meal of, he finds the chicken fried steak. the food was, well, as was to be expected out of a denny's. what bumped this particular visit up from three stars to a four was the service. i think dan was his name; he has a round face and bread hair (part down the middle). he seated us immediately, was quick to get us everything we needed and was totally nice/polite throughout. i've had horrible service at non-chain restaurants and such and i hope that those people will visit dan to learn what good service is all about. he didn't do anything out of the ordinary per se...i was just really impressed by his flow and ability to read his patrons. doubt i'll be back in springfield anytime soon (in fact i really hope not; i got a speeding ticket last time i swung through) but if i do i'll make sure dan's working! read more
