We were originally going to go to IHOP, but the boyfriend forgot that the IHOP he was thinking about had already closed down. We then rerouted to this Denny's location. After waiting 10-15 minutes for a table (not bad considering it was brunch time, and we had 6 people), we were escorted to a large table. Unfortunately, it was still a bit dirty, and when my friend asked the waitress for something to wipe down the seats with, she was offered a single napkin (to lay on top of the seat so that she can sit on top of it). It was also SUPER hot in there, and there was no AC or any fans running, which was pretty strange. My boyfriend barely touched his coffee (and he's a coffee addict), because he said it was watered down. He anticipated I would need condiments for my meal and brought them with my meal without me having to ask for it, including hot sauce. I should precedent that I am an avid lover of Denny's. Anytime, any meal, I am usually on board! With road trips it's also one place I can always count on decent food and a clean restroom! This also means I am no novice when it comes to my fair share of Denny's experiences. With that it is this location that time and time again I have to say takes the cake. I frequent this location the most and the single aspect that I appreciate the most is the team that works here. I have seen them be so busy and see how they employees work together to satisfy their patrons needs. They also do such a great job of connecting to their regulars and even remembering special orders. Men's restroom stinks up to high heaven. Whenever I take a piss, I wished I could hold my breathe long enough, so I didn't have to inhale the nastiest funkiest odor vaporizing out of the urinal. Of all the public restaurant restrooms I been in Tustin, this gotta be the grossiest smelliest in the city. And it's every time I come here after midnight. Maybe the morning shift might not be so bad, but they could easily put some cheap deodorizer to mask the funk in there if they're short on staff to clean. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!! If I could I wouldn't give this place a single star. What a dump! We stopped here to wait out the rush hour traffic and grab a bite to eat. It was dark when we arrived and I drove past this place twice because they didn't have their sign lit up. When we got out of the car we heard a very violent domestic dispute coming from the nearby apartment complex. That was scary. When we got inside the restaurant the tables were very worn. It took a while for our food to be served and it was pretty bad. As I ate my salad I told myself I was making a mistake. It just didn't taste right. After I paid the bill we used the restroom before our long drive home. OH MY GOD! The filth and stench in that ladies room was so bad I thought I was going to throw up. I had to hold my breath. No soap or paper towels. Obviously nobody tends to the bathroom. No pride in ownership at this place. I realize Dennys is a diner and maybe a lot of people don't want to eat at diners anymore but for families it is still an affordable option. What a shame this particular Dennys owner doesn't seem to care anymore. The health department needs to take a closer look at this place. Came here on Xmas and was expecting chaos and a long wait considering the amount of eaters and lack of other places open. Instead I got a clean & easy experience for my pancake craving. Watching the staff work together was like watching the gears operate from inside a watch. And they took the time to acknowledge you instead of being a number. Regarding takeout. I have always liked their takeout in the past, but the last two orders they have started using cardboard boxes instead of the nice plastic trays. Small and hard to eat out of and the food gets mixed together as there are no separations. The food has always been good, I love their Pot Roast melt sandwich and my husband loves the turkey club but this time the turkey came as processed meat and not real turkey. Full of salt and not as tasty. Seems they are cutting back on expenses but they are going to lose customers. We also (surprisingly) love the steak there and the burgers are good so we will just avoid the turkey for now but if it comes again in cardboard I won't bother. read more

THE GIST: I only go to Denny's when forced... especially to this one. OVERALL: I really do not like going to Denny's. I've been to a couple of good ones.. but this Tustin one is one of the worsts. The manager didn't seem too apologetic when we were kind enough to mention it...I know it's not their fault someone violated the bathroom.. but at least say thank you for telling you about it. 2) Your energy saving light bulbs are like interrogation lights: Seriously.. what the heck is going on with the lighting in this place. Some of the light bulbs are energy saving.. some aren't and most of them are blinding to sit under. 3) Your ketchup bottles are always almost empty: Now I know we went late night.. but why is it when I come here.. your ketchup bottles always only have one or two squirts left in them. This place isn't that busy where you can't do that while there are no customers. 4) Your seats and tables are always sticky or greasy: Why not use a new rag to wipe off the tables and seats every once in a while? Spoil the furniture a little! 5) Your holiday décor is hideous: I think you use the same ones every year... or buy them at the thrift store that's a block away.. I would say just don't do the holiday décor. 6) Your 50 cent crane game didn't let me win: Why do you stuff the animals so deep that you can't win sh*t... I wasn't about to try the 25 cent one either... you made me lose a dollar. 7) Your Denny's TV/Menu is annoying: it's so weird to see what Jewel and Hoobastank love to eat at Denny's.. when's the last time you cared what they wanted to eat? read more

Eh, I know it's Denny's, but I expect more. Every time we have come the doors have been open so the place is filled with flies, it takes forever to receive drinks, and the food is always lukewarm. I think the only time I have had a decent experience here was when my family came and we took our food to go, and even then it wasn't the greatest. I usually LOVE all my Denny's e perience but tonight is definitely not that night. I definitely will not be coming back to.this specific location. FIRST of all, I come in, and the first thing is that I get smacked in the face with this awful smell. Smell of old and mold. Definitely NOT appetizing. Secondly, take it yes, I came in late, around 10pm, but that also means they are NOT busy and service took forever. I COULD NOT find the server. I had to find someone, anyone...which nobody was in sight. Finally, after 5-10 mins keeping an eye out for an employee, a busboy came out and I had him look for my server. Thirdly, I am not feeling the best and the reason I chose Dennys at this late hour is because I know they have good chicken noodle soup and serve breakfast, 2 compfort foods that would make me feel better. I haven't had many good experiences while eating in this area. So we came here for breakfast. More like brunch. The place was pretty empty with the exception of the two tweakers sitting on the floor inside with the contents of their backpacks on the floor. You could play connect the dots with the track marks on their arms. Not really a big deal... They weren't disruptive. So we took a seat in the back and waited to be served. The server was really nice, which is about the only reason I graciously gave two stars. Whenever I eat Denny's I ALWAYS go for a grand slam, but I decided to try their new pancakes. Specifically the strawberry ones. It comes with eggs, hash browns and bacon (or sausage). I specifically asked for both and was given one of each. Not a BIG deal, because my friend gave me some of their jalapeño honey bacon (something new on their menu) which was alright. I like plain old thick cut bacon. Mmmmmm bacon... Sorry got distracted. ANYWAY my food was SO greasy. You could taste the Pam or whatever cooking spray they use. In short, my experience was meh. Food was meh, service was okay. It was a typical Denny's. Outdated and run down. I can't say I'd be in that area ever again, but I wouldn't return if I was. read more

There is one server there who is fantastic, a gentleman whose name I wish I could remember, as he deserves to be singled out for praise. Unfortunately, he does not make up for the burned breakfasts, the dirty silverware, another server who shook us up for his tip (as soon as we received our food) so that he could go home, and the female server who left us hanging from start to finish, leaving us to scratch our heads in confusion until we looked out the window and saw her getting cozy with the customer who was flirting with her the entire time we were there. Yep, there they were, outside by his car, she holding two Denny's bags for him, and me and my husband wondering if we should go outside and ask her if our orders were in there. We used to go to this Denny's all the time because it is the closest one to us, but we now go a little further down the road to the one on 17th Street, where the food and service in comparison is like night and day. read more

They have a cheap special menu with a few options of breakfast and lunch. I got their turkey sandwich with cup of soup (and crackers). Their broccoli and cheddar is awesome. It's thick and chunky. The sandwich is a descent portion. and it was only $6! The service here was awesome. My drinks were never empty and the waitress was very attentive to our needs. We walked in and were seated right away by a women named Liz. It was pretty empty. She seemed nice at first but later ended up giving me and my boyfriend attitude. She sat us down and asked us what we wanted to drink. I just got a water and my boyfriend got a mango lemonade.  She brought my water right away and said ill bring your mango lemonade right away. 10 minutes passed and she walked by us and was like "opps" and she rushed back to get the lemonade.  She finally took our order. ( i guess she forgot about us ) I just ordered a soup and pancake puppies. My boyfriend wanted the the build your own appetizer with cheeze quesadilla and cheese sticks. He asked her if he can have chicken inside the quesadilla and i swear it took 5 minutes of talking to her to get her to understand what we wanted. She thought we wanted to add chicken strips and then she was like so no cheese sticks.  She finally understood that we wanted chicken  inside the quesadilla and then she said in the exact wording " Why you no get chicken quesadilla?" And pointed at other picture with quesadilla with chicken and vegetables.  My boyfriend wanted the choose your own appetizer because he got cheese sticks with it. Finally we said forget it and just told her to get the quesadillas with cheese sticks. We saw 2 other groups be seated way after us and they both got their food before us. They had huge orders while we just had soup and appetizers. Honestly we just wanted to go home and take the food to go at this point. Finally our food came and she brought quesadilla with CHICKEN STRIPS. We told her we wanted the cheese sticks. And she took them and gave us COLD cheese sticks.  She also forgot to give me my soup. She finally came back and we asked her if she can get us new hot cheese sticks and if she can bring my soup. She broght the cheese sticks which were fine and my soup. I started to at it and it was cold, almost like it was sitting there for a long time. I was over it so i just ate it. While eating she sat two elderly ladies down and soon enough i heard her arguing with them. This other lady had to signal her to get her coffee from accross the room and this other women had to also signal her from accross the room to get the check. I was so done with her, its almost like she was trying to give me a bad experience. We got the check and went home. I didnt leave a tip, i didnt even want to pay for the food. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE BY WAITRESS LIZ!!!!!!! Cooks are also to blame.
