I sat down as one person at the table.. I ordered a chicken avocado wrap and it took 40 mins. There were other people who sat down after me and got served first. Unfortunately for this location, my objective is to rate each restaurant. The manager had an attitude and seemed to be frustrated that he was working at 1:30am. The waitresses were lovely and were working hard, but it was obvious that they paid less attention to the table of 1 over the table of 2 and 3. OMG. Horrible service. We were here for breakfast. They were 1/3 full at 9 AM on a Sunday. Had to flag our arms as if we were drowning to get ANYONE'S attention to get a coffee refill. Similar disregard for getting more water. Told the manager (don't know his name) as he walked by that the service was horrible. He said "we'll take care of it next time."---I suggested taking care of it THIS TIME would be more useful (e.g.--offer a free dessert, OJ, or something!!!) NOPE. I asked the waitress to bring me 2 $10 bills to break a $20. I got $10, $5, and 5 ones... Really. How can this be? Then I gave a water bottle I had with me to the waitress at the front/reception area --with Mr. Manager looking on--and asked (twice---she didn't seem to understand the meaning of an open, empty bottle with the cap in my hand and "can I please have a refill of water?"---the manager nodded that it was OK. Horrible experience. This was the second time I ate at this Denny's location. The first time was a year ago and it was a nice experience. This time was an absolute disaster. The bathrooms were filthy with no toilet paper, no paper towels to dry hands and trash all over the floor. There was also trash on the floor all over the restaurant. All over. Like a lot of food and trash on the floor under almost every table and in the walkways. The table next to us had food sitting there until we asked our server if someone was going to clean it as no one was at the table. The tipping point was the Double Cheeseburger I ordered that wasn't cooked properly. Confirmation this was a serious issue is the review I just read below from earlier TODAY that had sausage links undercooked. There were other issues such as the restaurant having no ingredients for their house salads aside from lettuce and croutons. This was the least of our worries. The food was not edible. The only nice thing was our server who immediately said she will not charge us for the burger and it was evident in her response and reaction that we were not the first ones with issues at this location. I wish I took pictures of the trash on the floor and the condition of the burger. This was my worst experience at Denny's. Deserves less than 1 star. And I'm the nicest guy who doesn't like to talk down or bad about things, but the level of disgust is beyond comprehension. I hope I don't get sick from the food. read more

I sat there for 10 minutes, tried to flag down two waiters, who just waved me away, i assume promising to come back later. I then went up to the counter and asked to for my order to be taken since I was short on time. The store manager/waiter told me rudely "don't you see I'm very busy, i told you i would be with you!' This Denny's is still a very nice though the first time we got our food it was cold! The eggs the pancakes and the hash browns. We had to ask them to make another meal that's warmer. When we got the second meal it was perfect. The waiter was very nice. The place is very loud though and it's hard to have a conversation. Denny's Denny's diner is known for typical American foods. It's my first time to visit Denny's Diner today. When we walked in, I saw some cute Valentine's decoration around the restaurant. Red-heart- balloons greeted us, and it really felt like the holiday. We were welcomed by a friendly waitress with a pretty smile. Also, lots of pictures of America were enough to make me interested. I ordered smothered cheese fries and a milk shake. The milk shake was sweet and creamy. The wavy-cut French fries covered with cheese sauce and crumbled bacon was a little bit greasy because it was too cheesy. I expected the French fries would be crispier and hot, but it wasn't. It was just okay overall. The service, it was just average as well. The friendly waitress tried to be polite to us, but she seemed to lack experience. She dropped one of our dishes on the floor, switched a couple of orders and completely disappeared after bringing our food, so it was hard to call her when we needed something. Denny's has lots of choices on the menu, so you can choose whatever you want to try. Specially, there are cheap menus you can choose among $2, $4, $6, $8. I suggest you try them out. Plus, one of my friends said the French toast was the best menu in Denny's. Overall, this dishes, service, and atmosphere were OK, just enough to have some lunch with your buddies. read more

Let me start off with how much I am OBSESSED with Denny's. I always get the endless soup and salad for $6 dollars. It is my favorite chicken noodle soup ever! So I picked my boyfriend up from work and said we have to go to Denny's I need chicken noodle soup. So we went to this hellhole excuse for Denny's. I think this location needs to be shut down because their service was the worst service I ever had in my life! When we first walked in no one greeted us and so we just stood there. We had to yell hello, and about 45 seconds later a waitress came out and said sit anywhere. So we sat down, we noticed the vents were blowing out cool air when it was already a very cool night. Um? So we moved to a seat where no vent was. Then we sat and stared at each other waiting for someone to come talk to us. No menu, no waitress. No service. She walked by us about 6 minutes later and said "I will be right with you" and then passed by us again saying " I will be right with you" I replied " but I have a question" and she said " I said I will be right with you" so we sat and we waited and we waited and we sat for about 6 more minutes and she still never returned to our table. Never have I been treated so poorly in my life by a manager and a waitress. Not only is the service terrible and the food subpar, but the way that the workers treat their customers is terrible and extremely inappropriate. A few of my friends and I went to get free unlimited pancakes with the purchase of a coffee which was offered as a promotion they were doing in partnership with an organization on the UCLA campus. Firstly, we arrived at midnight and while the restaurant had at max 7 customers, we were told to wait to be seated. Once we were seated, we failed to be waited on for at least 10 minutes regardless of the lack of customers in the restaurant. When we finally ordered, we asked the waitress if we could get chocolate chip pancakes as part of the free pancake promotion and she confirmed, after speaking with the manager, that our first round of chocolate pancakes would be included but the second round, we would have to pay for the chocolate chips. Therefore, we ordered the chocolate chip pancakes under the knowledge that there was no additional charge if we were only ordering one round of pancakes. However, when we got the check, which we had to wait forever for, we were surprised to see our night of free pancakes came out with a $44 bill. After the manager and the waitress tried to receive $44 for our order, we reminded them that we were part of the free pancake promotion and mentioned how the waitress told us the chocolate chip pancakes were included. The waitress and manager instantly raised their voices and got extremely defensive. The waitress claimed that she told us about the extra charge for the chocolate chips and even accused of us lying. She claimed that the chef witnessed her saying this, despite the fact that our table was very far from the kitchen. The manager, witnessing the entire process, argued with us as well, and instead of respecting us as his customers, told us that regardless of the communication between us and the waitress, we would have to pay. He said that he was trying to do something nice for the UCLA campus by working with this organization, but because of us he is done and proceeded to rip off the flyer on the desk, and crumple it right in front of us. And honestly, I think that this restaurant was benefitting more from the partnership anyways as it brought customers to this restaurant that I doubt gets much business as a result of this service. After this 5 minute argument that the waitress and manager proceeded to have with their customers in front of the entire restaurant, we still had to pay for the chocolate chips. A night of unlimited pancakes turned into a $22 bill and an extremely dissatisfied and upset attitude. The way that this manager and waitress treated us completely shocks me. I have worked in the food industry for many years, and have never encountered a situation even close to this. The manager's name is byron and if anybody else has any issues with him, I would definitely recommend reporting it to Denny's corporate headquarters. What a terrible experience. read more

Ok after reading the reviews I'm thankful that it wasn't just me that was completely ignored by the service staff. Blistery this morning, I ducked in for an early breakfast meeting with a colleague. No one greeted me, I stood there and waited for someone to acknowledge me, didn't know if I needed to wait to be seated or not. Finally I caught someone's eye and they said to seat myself (not that eloquently I might add). So I find a table and proceed to take my coat off and quickly realize that the heat is not on and I'm freezing! I put my coat on and sit and wait for my breakfast companion. I think I waited about 10 minutes before she arrived and in all that time, no one came by to offer me any coffee or anything. She finally shows up and still we are being completely ignored, I get up to go see if panini cafe serves breakfast because I wanted to leave. She was able to get the attention of a "manager" and we somehow got coffee. We decided to move tables because of the draft and their lack of heat! Got our food which was typical Denny's food. About to dig into my pancakes and realize that no one ever came by to refill our coffee, waited a few more minutes and needed coffee to wash down the pancakes, got up with our two cups and walked up to the counter..."oh you want more coffee?" Please! Never again will I waste my time with this place, and yes, why only 1 server? But I could handle this small dining room by myself and still not have guests begging for coffee! Tonight my "Culinary Service Provider" Frances, was friggin Awesome! Super Sweet and Personable. As some who works in restaurants too, I enjoy having someone who generally cares about their work and. By that meaning that during a 3am Saturday crowd isn't usually the best patrons to deal with ANYWHERE but then there's the kind of patrons at Dennys on a Saturday at 3am... you know the drunk belligerent rowdy under tipping messy characters. She did her thing with a smile, and a up beat approach that made me reflect on my 12 hour shift of bartending today, and ask myself did I have the same kind of smile and good up beat attitude towards my guests? I asked where the manager was so I could let them know how awesome she did and how I saw her kicking butt. She told me there wasn't one. Sooo here I am on yelp. To whomever Frances is a superstar and needs to be recognized. Can someone say "New Manager"? I'll come back to see her again for sure! Worst Denny's ever. To start with, it took at least 10 minutes for our server to acknowledge us. I know they were busy but it still would've been nice to be acknowledged. Finally we got to order. For my drink I ordered water and orange juice. The server forgot to bring my water. Honest mistake. I asked for it again. Then the food came(still no water). They forgot part of my boyfriend's meal. We reminded them to bring the pancakes and my water. Finally I got my water. My boyfriend got his pancakes but they forgot to put the strawberries on top that he requested. Oh and I should also mention my eggs were cooked wrong, my grits tasted like water no matter how much salt I put in them, and his toast was seriously the smallest piece of toast I've ever seen. The only good part about this experience (hence the one star) was once we complained to the manager our entire meal was free. If I could give this place zero stars I would. read more

I m not a Native American, and I don't understand why some people are so cruel about this place. The quality of food is not that perfect, but if you take consideration about the price and the portion, it would be a great place if you want something cheap and in great portion. Another reason that I would love to go there is because you will never need to wait for seats and food for long(I ve been there couple of times and the services were very fast). Btw, it kinda feels you are "reserving" the whole restaurant when every time you go to this restaurant and there are very few or no other people under most conditions lol. Love coming to this cozy neighborhood-type Denny's! Will start off with the only disadvantage...which is not their fault, but is a reason that it is often almost empty. The Parking!!...like much of Westwood! (That's why stores are always closing.) COME ON, CORP--CAN'T YOU HELP THIS PLACE OUT?!! Like maybe contract with the Hammer Museum garage or other parking lots. And, then, advertise, that there is, indeed, parking! Back to the positive. I had a delicious GRAND SLAM for my birthday. Perfectly made crispy(which I requested) bacon, eggs, and hash browns. Have had some good turkey sandwiches and burgers in the past. The mgr. Fritz was very nice! Daniel was helpful, and Frances, our server, was a sweetheart! I hope this place survives and continue its good food and service! The staff was pleasant and smiling. (Will say, there has been a server who seems unfriendly, but is actually o.k. She might try to be more aware of her presentation.) For all these negative reviewers, please remember...this is a mid-America type of diner. They do what they do well, in my opinion. I stopped by this Denny's because I was in the mood for a burger and I didn't want to experiment with any of the local restaurants. The parking is horrible so keep that in mind. I had to park in the street two blocks away. The place was surprisingly empty. The waitress greeted us when we walked in and advised us we could sit wherever we liked. We sat in a booth in a corner. This Denny's was remarkably clean. We were given the menus and shortly after the kind waitress took our drink orders. When she came back with our drinks we placed our food order. I ordered a bacon avocado cheeseburger with no mayo. She assured me that it didn't come with mayo even though the menu said otherwise. I also added a side of onion rings. My son ordered a chicken fried steak and my daughter ordered the Mac n cheese. You probably guessed it already.... The first problem with my order was that it came with fries when I ordered onion rings. The burger also had mayo. I told the waitress about the error and she replied that I had ordered fries but that she would change them to onion rings for me. Lady, I know what I ordered! Otherwise the food was good or at least what you expect from Denny's. I don't expect to be in the area again so I don't know if I would return. So I'm a huge Dennys fan. Typically I frequent the one near where I live in Hollywood. Today since I work nearby decided to go to the Westwood location. Never again will I return this location is just....a no I wish I could give it negative stars. First off some bum hangin in front followed me in an was mistaken as my plus 1, once I made it clear I was alone, I proceeded with my order. My cashiers attitude was so dry no smile an I understand sometimes ur just not feeling it but her personality matched her smile, dead. My receipt says Haley on it but I understand so I'm assuming it was her unless someone else used her register. The purpose of greeting people is to make them feel welcome. Second I asked several times for a dessert menu she claimed it was in the menu I was holding an I repeated that I looked and it wasn't there. Like if ur gonna be that lazy to get a menu just show me where to get it an I can get it myself. My order was so simple. When I finally got it I was missing the only ingredient I asked for on my sandwich. I ordered a sundae but there was no ice cream in my bag like really? If I hadn't checked my order before leaving I'd be pissed but working in restaurant myself I know that u should go over the order with the customer so that this doesn't happen. The burger has no type of flavor, the onions are slimey, and the fries were blah and my puppies were burnt. My family and I were looking to have a nice family meal, so naturally we turned to an American Classic - Denny's. What could go wrong, right? I have a bit of a broken family and we don't usually have the opportunity to come together and have a meal so I wanted to pick a location that would cause as few problems as possible. Well boy, did I pick wrong. This was the worst dining experience I've ever had. From the start, things weren't looking good. We walked in and it took them a couple of minutes to stop chatting in the back and come up to the podium to seat us. The table they sat us at was sticky and wet, and they ran out of crayons for the little ones to play with. From here, it only got worse. Our waitress had a terrible attitude, was rude, and apparently didn't like my hat; she repeatedly made fun of it. It took her 10 minutes to get our drink order which was completely wrong, and there was a hair in one of the milk glasses. This already tense dinner encounter between me and the family was really starting to put people on edge, and my family members started blaming each other for the night. About 25 minutes later, our food finally came, and the drink order was corrected. (We were one of two parties in the restaurant). The pancakes were burnt, the eggs were undercooked and the syrup was stale. I don't usually complain about my meals, but something needed to be said about this establishment.
