We were up in Winter Park for the weekend and needed a place that was kid friendly and took reservations. This place fit the bill! Everyone like their food- some items stood out more than others. Here's the rundown: Grilled artichoke: 2 1/2 stars - decent flavor but hard to eat, not a lot of meat, and I'd have preferred a garlic butter to dip opposed to the dill aioli. We would not order this again. Cauliflower Curry: 3 1/2 stars- This was my dish and I was happy with it but I'd probably try something else first. Margarita Pizza: 5 stars! Delicious. Pizza is their thang. Chicken Marsala: 4 stars- chicken was cooked very nicely and the mushrooms were perfection. Rustic Medallions: I didn't try any of this dish but it looked great (huge portion of steak and shrimp) but it does have a dusting of parmesan and the person who ordered it hates cheese so that was tough for him. Kids had the chicken tenders and mac and cheese. Both were healthy portions. The mac and cheese looked pretty good but didn't have much flavor. The bread that they bring to the table is phenomenal. That might be driving this 4 star review! They also made sure to give us a corner table a bit out of the way so we could corral our kids. Definitely happy with our experience here and we'd return. PS. We managed to come in on the tail end of happy hour which runs from 3-6 daily. There are drink deals ($2 off wines and some others) and then some of the appetizers are discounted as well. 5/19/18 I guess I should be happy. It's a small town in the mountains of Colorado. Really shouldn't be expecting such a semi-fancy restaurant here. And of course I wasn't expecting anything world class, and well, it wasn't world class but at least it was mostly edible, and most importantly, the steak was pretty good! Unfortunately service was just okay. They're nice folks, but no one comes by the table. They also just throw the plates on the table without really caring where they land or who they face. It was definitely nice thought that they were willing to split checks for 13 separate people at the table. I dunno why it's so hard, but for some strange reason most restaurant don't wanna do that. Anyway... 1. Bread and Butter: The butter was weird--it was whipped but was all broken in pieces, still frozen. The bread though, even cold, was delicious!--super moist, super high in gluten. Dense and amazing. 8/10 2. Red Sangria (Tap) $9 "svedka citron, la terre merlot, peach puree": Almost no fruit flavor. Like a sweeter red wine with just a small hint of juice. Not a proper sangria, but maybe some weirdos would dig it. 3/10 3. 14oz Certified Angus Center Cut Ribeye $39 "top choice aged beef, cut thick, seasoned with Deno's signature steak rub, finished with sea salt, broiled at 1,700 degrees, served with Chef's choice vegetable and roasted red potatoes with herbs and balsamic": AH YES. After that stupid long description it better be good, and it was!!! Quite salty, so I'd say it was more than "finished with sea salt" but more like drowned in the stuff, but man was the meat amazingly tender! Strangely, the middle was more done than the rest... weird right? They need to work on cooking the meat evenly given it was overcooked in the middle. The vegetables on the side were tasty too. If it was cooked perfectly I'd score even higher, but even despite the over-seasoning and overcooking, it was still.... 8/10 4. Side of Sauteed Rainbow Chard $5 "pancetta and cannellini beans": What pancetta!?!? Mushy too. The beans were broken and weren't attractive. 3/10 5. Soup du Jour, Roasted Chile Soup Cup $4 / Bowl $5 6. Pickle Plate $5 "spicy brussels sprout, curried cauliflower, house kosher dill, caraway sauerkraut": The cucumber pickles were standard, but the pickled brussels sprouts was a bit different, though not perfect--they weren't crunchy but the idea was cool. A bit spicy overall. Nice. 5/10 7. Grilled Whole Artichoke $11 "tzatziki sauce": Standard but well made. 5/10 8. Rocky Mountain Trout $22 "garlic herb butter, pepperonata, sauteed rainbow chard, pancetta and cannellini beans": I didn't actually try this, but I saw others ordering this. Had a good experience with a group of 3 adults and two kids. We ordered two kid meals (and they ate everything!), split a pizza, and ordered the caprese salad. Not one plate went back with any food on it! Service was attentive and helpful, a stark change from another restaurant I recently visited in town. Only potential improvement would be a wider beer selection, especially to have a beer or two from the county (especially the brewery next door) on tap. read more

Great atmosphere! The food was on par as well. For 40 bucks you can get a 8 ounce filet mignon cooked flawlessly with some great mashed potatoes and asparagus. The atmosphere was perfectly intimate but still family-friendly. Try out the happy hour it's from 4 to 6 PM daily even Saturday and Sunday. The old fashion was only 10 bucks at that time and it was pretty good but could use a little work for sure. Sorry guys occurred. My daughter had the happy hour mussels and there were none left over. LOL I have the medallion and shrimp skewers. We didn't have room for dessert but it looked really good. If I went back I definitely try the Apple pie à la mode. You won't go wrong in this great little town at Denos. I guess the only part I would change is the parking. If you get there after 7 PM it looks really packed so make sure you have a jacket with you because you'll be walking a little bit. But totally worth it! read more

Deno's is delicious! We only ate off of the happy hour menu, but it was great. My favorite item was the Pepper Bleu Filet Tips. Awesome!!! The Agrodolce Calamari was very unique and tasty. Gorgonzola Fondue gets a thumbs up. And the wings were big and crispy. I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting Winter Park. read more

Wow. The word Craptastic Service comes to mind. Been coming here for years and it didn't go well. It was supposed to be a special night celebrating the end of an old job and the beginning of a new one. Two adults, two teens (one exchange student from Denmark who had never been to an upscale restaurant in the US. Apparently she still hasn't), one child, $500. After a long wait standing next to people try to eat in peace we were seated at a table for four. Four chairs. Had to get our own fifth chair. Four menus. No kid's menu. Ordered bread. Got four pieces of bread. Ordered five steaks, one garlic allergy. Never been a problem in the past. Steaks normally come with garlic mashed potatoes and a vegetable sautéed in garlic. Assured the garlic allergy would get fries and a salad as usual. Nope. Had to order a side salad which arrived after we were all done with the steaks. The salad dressing arrived earlier, though. No one except maybe the hostess actively tried to be rude but wow it was such a let down after years of good service and looking forward to a pleasant experience to celebrate a new life chapter. To be fair the steaks were cooked as ordered. It would have been nice to have space on the table and leg room to enjoy the food, and have it show up at the appropriate time. read more

Came in after hitting the pot shop down the road! Very impressed with the service!! The food was outstanding. Beware the menu is completely different right now because of covid!!! We came here hoping to get the gorgonzola dip, mussels, and blue cheese tips...they did not have any of them :( menu was pretty lame in our opinion. *HOWEVER* the food we did get was well done and very tasty. Excellent restaurant and bar in town. The gorgonzola fondue was terrific. A really tasty app. The bison short rib pot pie is very satisfying. Amazing place with excellent service. Came here to celebrate an anniversary & from the moment we walked it, the night was so fun. They sat us in the back, away from the cold draft of the front door at "the most romantic table in all of our restaurant." We sat down and were only seated 2min before our server Julie came over, introduced herself & handed us drink and dinner menus. Boy, was she punctual and sweet!! Their wine selection was voted by Wine Spectator being one of the best in the WORLD! My Hubs and I both ordered a Malbec, which was far better than any I had before. I made a note of it, so I could buy a bottle when I get home. Had the bruschetta app, which was one of the best I've had, as their bread is homemade and soft that they serve it with. For dinner, we ordered the medallion tips (beef) and added shrimp. I ordered the lobster ravioli with shrimp as well. FOOOOD WAS SOOOOOO DELICIOUS! They were on a 30 minute wait so we hovered around some bar tables until we could snag one. Not sure who our server was, she never introduced herself. But she was good. Food was good. Great wine selection. It's expensive. Worth the price?yeah maybe... We were tired and hungry and the table we landed out seemed in a very loud area where everyone passed by. Speaking of loud. The acoustics weren't great. Loud and crying babies were a thing. And I'm a parent who can tolerate it. We would try again, for sure. My family has eaten here for over 25 years during the holiday season. Tonight's experience was bad enough that we won't be back. The food was not worth the price, we didn't receive the happy hour price even though we ordered 30 minutes before it was over, and the waiter charged my credit card for more than what our bill was for. After a long day of skiing, we were excited to give this place a try. After looking up the menu online, we figured it would be a good "last night on the mountain" kind of meal. When we got there, we were seated at a table near the entrance to the kitchen. It was a busy area to be seated. People coming in and out and up and down the stairs - it was a noisy table. But seeing that we didn't have reservations we were glad to have a seat. The staff was super attentive. In fact, they were well on top of making sure we had enough to drink and that tables were busted quickly once guests left their tables. We were impressed! The food was pretty good. But nothing super fancy or over the top like the prices would suggest. At the end of our dinner, we found that we were not only charged the super high local tax but an additional 2% charge for the kitchen staff. Ended up being about 10% tax give or take. While we appreciate the kitchen staff and their work, the food here is already pricey. Then to be charged that on top of it seemed a bit ridiculous. Putting the cost of your staff off on your customers seems like a poor model. read more

Wayyyyy beyond expectations. We were heading to Tabernash Tavern when we found out it was closed so we chose Deno's. WOW! Super impressed!! We went early after skiing, about 5 or 5:30pm. We came here for the lobster ravioli others raved about and were sad to see it was taken off the menu. We stayed through Happy Hour and are so glad -- we had the most amazing meal! We started with drinks and an app, I got the Deep Eddy Never Summer Cocktail (grapefruit and lemon) and the Gorgonzola fondue. For dinner I had the spinach and portobello ravioli and my husband had the salmon dish. Everything was delicious and the service was fantastic! A lot of other restaurants were closed, not sure if it was a weird slow time before ski season or due to COVID, but we were so glad Deno's was open! I spent three days in Rocky Mountain National Park on a wildfire burn area, clearing timber and working on land restoration, so I was ravenously hungry when I got to Deno's after finishing work. It smelled amazing right away when I walked in. A redolent aroma of wine, steak, and seafood cranked my hunger to 11. It was quite busy, so we grabbed a drink from the bar during our 20 minute wait, which gave me a chance to scope out some of the dishes. One woman had a gorgeous salad with beautiful spring lettuces, which I eyed with salivating envy. A staff member on break recommended her meal, the tuna poke, which also looked amazing. We eventually were called to our table, a comfortable booth with ample room to recline, which my aching limbs greatly appreciated. My friend chose several of the appetizers for us to share, while I set my sights on the Greek salad. We placed our order for tuna poke, burrata caprese, French onion soup, Thai curry mussels, my salad, and the house bread. The food arrived quickly, and I dug in like I hadn't eaten in a week. The salad was every bit as sublime as expected, with tangy dolmas, lovely wedges of feta cheese, tiny cherry tomatoes, and those gorgeous spring lettuces. The curry mussels were piping hot in their rich coconut broth, bursting with smoky, tart and spicy flavor. I was glad of the additional bread for sopping it all up. The tuna poke was as expected, a pretty standard version that was done well, but it included some sub-par cubes of fish with white sinew that I didn't particularly enjoy. I loved the French onion soup and the bubbling hot cheese-covered croutons, but my dinner companion was disappointed that the recipe was not the same as he remembered from a previous visit. The burrata caprese was stellar, oozing creamy goodness onto tiny fresh tomatoes, and it was excellent slathered on the bread. The server was attentive and helpful, and kept our drinks topped off and our table neat. We devoured the spread and were left thoroughly satiated and drowsy. I drove back to Denver feeling comfortable and happy, and passed tf out immediately when I got home. I definitely want to come back, and hope to give the chicken piccata and steaks a try next time. My expectations were probably too high which led to my disappointment so take that into consideration with this review. First the positives: the restaurant itself is beautiful with a lovely ambiance. The menu has a very upscale selection of food and is overall a very nice restaurant. I would go again, but I would order different food. My daughter ordered the wild mushroom ravioli. She loved it and wouldn't share but it looked delicious. My other daughter ordered a plain burger and inhaled it but she isn't picky. My wife ordered the Greek appetizers platter which was just fine cold standards. My big disappointment came from my dish of Chilean Salmon with wild rice and crispy Brussel sprouts. It's my own fault as a Floridian that I ordered seafood. The Salmon was crispy and dry. There was a little citrus sauce but not enough to counter the dry fish. The rice was fine but nothing amazing, and the crispy Brussel sprouts reminded me why I don't like Brussel sprouts. They were plain and just charred. I had some recently at a Florida restaurant called Bonefish that were amazing so these paled by comparison. And the last thing that brought my score down was the cost: Over $100 before tip. My husband and I had a dinner reservation at 8:30 on a Friday night to celebrate my birthday. The jist- the filet and mussels were fantastic, the ahi was okay, and the service was seriously lacking on several levels. The details-we were seated promptly by a friendly host then proceeded to wait about 10 min for our server to meet us. No biggie about this wait, it was a busy night. However, the server was not friendly, was trying to talk so loud (nearly yelling) that he spit on our table several times (eew), failed to take our drink order, and just immediately started to tell us about the soup special then abruptly left to "go check" how many servings of the special remained (we weren't even interested in the special). He then proceeded to tend to several other tables and didn't return for another 10-15 min. When he returned he casually said they had servings of the special remaining. No acknowledgement that we'd been waiting 20+ min without drinks etc or that his quick go check the special was actually him going to serve other tables. My husband informed the server it was my birthday (it was also noted on our reservation), no acknowledgement from the server (so odd), I then ordered two scoops of ice cream assuming it would be comped for my bday...it was not (I've never witnessed a restaurant not comp a bday dessert so this was shocking). Overall our server seemed to lack the social skills necessary to be an effective server. And to top it off, in the middle of our dinner, while tables of ppl remained, a different server was walking around vacuuming. It's a small dining room...it was so loud and tactless. My husband and I are unsure if we'd return. The filet was tasty but the odd service tainted the experience. read more

Had the sliders since they were discounted and they were amazing! Could be the drunk head talking or could just be actually fire.
