This was an awesome experience the inside of the doctors office look newly designed it looks like something from La Jolla everybody spoke well at least the receptionist spoke perfect English. Factoring in the latest modern equipment and technology, Dr. Hilda Rodriguez's professionalism, gentleness and her ever so helpful/friendly staff, I can not imagine there being any better or more affordable dental care anywhere. I was given a complete dental exam with X-rays and an estimate regarding time frame and the total cost. I then received a much needed deep cleaning and had a wisdom tooth extracted. The following day I arrived at 9:00 AM and received two root canals, two posts, three crowns and had a cavity repaired. All done that day in the same office... PAIN FREE :) The total cost of EVERYTHING was under $2,000.00... That is 1/3 or less than U.S. Dentist which gave me estimates of $6,000.00 - $8,000.00 and a time frame of 3-4 months going to multiple locations and seeing multiple doctors. OMG! Dental Alvarez saves the day and my wallet! I had FOUR US dentists tell me that my implant was failing and I needed a bone graft and new implant. I received a quote from Dental Alvarez that was about $3500 less than the US dentists wanted. I booked with Dr. Mendez. Dr. Mendez prepped me as if we were going to have surgery, but after removing the crown he determined the implant was solid and didn't need to come out. I did not need to have surgery! Now imagine if I had been at on one of the aforementioned 4 US Dentists? How much do you want to bet they would have performed unnecessary surgery? I am sold and you should be too - Dental Alvarez dentists are HONEST! Don't waste your time with dentists in CA - cross the border - it is SO worth it. read more

My wife had a problem with her wisdom tooth so she was in a constant pain. Since her US dental insurance is not the best one, we decided to go to Mexico for a..."medical tourism". There was a lady with a name Bianca. I can assure you that we were handled by that lady with a very high professionalism. We drove from Los Angeles to San Ysidro , left our car there and we cross the border on foot. Across the border the manager of the clinic was waiting and gave us a ride to this clinic. That facility is very clean and well organized by any medical standards(very impressed!). The service and the dentists are good professionals. The price was very acceptable. And I've had my wisdom teeth come one at a time, the 1st time I got it done here in San Diego Ca. and it was $460. For ONE extraction. Today I paid $360 for THREE extractions with medication included. THEIR EQUIPMENT IS TOP OF THE LINE! Very professional, almost all employees spoke English and I was done in 30 minutes and I didn't feel a thing! I went to Dentista Alvarez, in Tijuana, for a simple composite filing. My dentist in the states wanted $500, non-insurance, because of course it wasn't covered. My appointment took 30 minutes from when I walked in the door and paid with my AMEX card...$55. Then I spent that night at the Marriott for $100 and dined at an upscale restaurant for less than $20. I used this office about five years ago. They tell you that they could do everything you want. However in the end they don't deliver what was promised. One dentist that worked there named Dr. Martinez was horrible. In my opinion the dental assistant did a better job than the dentist.. I had a three crowns done and after a year the color was changing. i went back to them and spoke with Dr. Martinez and Alvarez. They wanted me to pay for the services all over again to change it. This place is like a used car lot. They convince you that you will get the best car but you will get a lemon. So five years later, I have to redo the work that they did that should have lasted ten years. I have gaps at the edges of the crown because the dentist used the cement too sparingly. Stay away!! You get what you pay for. Cheap price equals inferior workmanship and product. read more

I had a crown done this past December and the crown recently broke off, I then called and scheduled an appointment to see a dentist. When I saw the dentist, I was told the crown was not under warranty due to the fact that the crown broke off with a piece of my tooth, they explained. He then said, I needed a root canal to build up from the tooth and install a new crown. This was very unfortunate, since they couldn't use the crown I just paid for. I then scheduled an appointment for 10/17 at 9am, with the young lady at the front desk. On 10/14, I called to confirm my appointment. The person who answered, fist said "there is no appointment". I then said, there's got to be a mistake! She then puts me on hold for a minute or two and says.. "ohh I found it, however it's at 11am not 9am", I was like "are you sure?" She said "yes, Saturday 10/17, at 11am. She even called me the day before my appointment and confirmed the appointment for Saturday 10/17 at 11am. On the day of my appointment, I received a call at 9:30am, to tell me I had missed my appointment and I had to reschedule. I told them this wasn't my fault! He then says, "well.. how fast can you be here?" I was like, At least an hour, then he says "ok, see you in 40 min" total BS! This was the most incompetent and unprofessional administrative experience ever! I am now with another dental clinic in Tijuana and they are way better!! To top it off, my new dentist took X-rays and said "not sure why they told you "you needed a root canal" he was able to build a bridge using the tooth next to it for support. I will never refer or recommend Dental Alvarez! read more

I was referred to Dr. Alvarez by a friend of mine from San Diego 4 years ago and since then if i need to do any dental work I go only to Dr. Alvarez clinic. My husband is pleased with them too. So far the experience we have had is only positive. The prices are very reasonable and doctors are trustworthy: they do not try to do more than you really need and as a result you overpay. They will receive new equipment soon that will allow to make crown in 1 day (basically you come in the morning and leave in the afternoon)! I went to this dental office to get a quote to have a root canal done and also for bonding which is the application of a tooth-colored resin in my two front teeth. It was very obvious how used up the two front teeth were as Dr. Hilda Rodriguez examined them very closely to be able to give me price. I went back to get the job done. The problem is that the office charged me almost twice as much for each tooth that needed bonding. At that moment I wasn't too sure since I had left the paper where they quoted me at home so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and paid. I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't like being taken advantage of. You don't say a price, do the job then charge twice as much. Dr. Hilda Rodriguez has years of experience as a Dentist so don't try to bullshit (forgive my French) me now saying you hadn't realized it would need more fill in. You need to act professionally by respecting the price you provide to your patients. Being Dishonest and shady is NOT RIGHT. I went back to speak with Dr. Hilda Rodriguez in person. She acknowledged and apologized for not telling me how much more it would cost BEFORE doing the job. But do you think she refunded the money? Of course not, she refused. She even had the audacity of saying "So it's about the money?" Of course is about money.
