I brought my 5 yo son here for a second opinion. His pediatric dentist told him that he needed to have 3 cavities filled. Given that he is so little, I wanted to absolutely make sure that they were correct. The dentist who say my son was so energetic and polite. He confirmed that my son would need to have his cavities filled. The technician who took the x-rays was so great as well and I am shocked that they are not actually a pediatric dentistry. It feels like both the technician and dentist have the training and quality necessary to deal with children, which I so appreciate. We will be going here from now on. read more

My son has been coming into this location for about two years now and every visit is just awesome! He really enjoys coming in, the staff is great, the services are done very well, and setting up appointments and payments is a breeze. He has been seeing the dentists for a few years now and they have done a phenomenal job with getting his teeth health on the right track. He has also seen the orthodontist here and his team is just AMAZING. They are patient, understanding, educational, and they really look after their patients. The doctor was able to find the best treatment plan for him and lets just say my kid is so excited to have braces! He thinks it is the coolest! My son will definitely be under their care for years to come. I had a severe toothache and had to scramble to find an open Dentist office on a Saturday morning. Fortunately for me, this particular office was able to see me and helped me out. Their Saturday crew were so helpful and kind. I had to return to have a more thorough exam, this time with Dr. Gwilt, and it was determined that this cracked tooth needed to be extracted, needless to say, I was so scared and terrified to have this first time procedure. The extraction went just fine, nothing like I'd imagined! Dr. Gwilt is an A plus plus Dentist and was very kind, knowledgeable, compassionate, gentle, professional, and proficient!! A few weeks ago was the first time that I have stepped into a dental office in almost 16 years, and I was terrified. My past experiences were not good and I just never went back. Well to say the least I am very happy with the decision that I made to go to this dental office. The office is very clean and everyone in there from the first person that greets you in very kind and helpful. I felt extremely comfortable with the dentist, the hygienist and all the assistants. I have already seen them 3 times in the past month for deep cleaning and extractions and plan to go back for more work. I actually look forward to finally getting my teeth into good shape and I am no longer scared of the next step. Each procedure has been done very well and they have taken good care of me. My family has started to go there as well, my children loved the trains and the staff there were very nice to them. I would definitely recommend this dental office to anyone. I went to dental depot on Bell Rd to have my teeth cleaned and was told that I needed a crown replaced because I had a cavity under the crown. The tooth had a root canal done by a previous dentist and the dental depot dentist said that because of the root canal done it wasn't hurting me. The dental depot dentist told me that because I was in my late 50's that I should start thinking about not having insurance thru work soon and most people have dentures by the age of 60. I told him "My dad is 91 and still has his teeth" so I really didn't think I qualified for the thought of dentures yet. The dentist told me that he would have a quote of what work I needed done worked up by the girl in the office and if I could stop in the next day for that quote and make an appt. I went in the next day concerned about replacing a crown that didn't bother me and a heavy set blonde woman came, said she was the office manager and she handed me a quote from the dentist for $10,000. for extracting all my teeth in preparation for dentures! I was shocked at what I was reading. I looked up at her to tell her that she had given this to the wrong person and all I could see was her huge smile and the $$ in her eyes as she told me "oh no that is for you".. Wow. They love to over bill you and hold onto your money. Don't count on them to step up and admit they owe you money, watch your insurance companies EOB's. Practices seem shady. Loved being talked down to by the billing staff member, I guess they just wanted me to pay without asking. I came in for part two for my kid and the info changed and suddenly more work needed to be done, surprise! Glad I went through this before I committed to the ortho my youngest needs. read more

I opted for a 7am appointment for a filling that was a quick fix. I arrived a few minutes before and walked right in, took care of business and got seated. Within a few minutes Doc arrived and numbed me up and got to the "filling". I mentioned a call I needed to take at 8am. No worries on time as Doc had me out in plenty of time. Naturally a filling can get wonky but all went well and fast. Good teamwork and excellent technical skill to get me moved along so that I could do the same for my client on the 8am call. This place was found in desperation to fix a broken tooth after moving to the area. They were quick to get me in and aid in relief of my tooth damage. Scheduling does not have much availability as the other location, but for a good reason. The front office were genuinely friendly and it was easy to feel comfortable right away. The hygienist 'Monica' is passionate in her career and you can tell she cares for her patients and her team. I have a low tolerance for pain and I've had bad experiences at other dentist offices that made me not want to go back, but I definitely know that I am in good care here and this place will now be my go to. read more

If there was something lower than 1-star then they would get that. Their "dentist" who is now being phased out..hmm, made my crown too big and then kept saying oh we'll fix that at the end of your treatment plan. That never happened and then I lost my health insurance. I finally got insurance with my new job and now there is a cavity forming underneath my crown that they made too big to begin with. And you know what the owner said? Not our fault you didn't come back right away, even though I did and got prescribed 600mg ibuprofen and got told we will fix it later. Now it's my fault that I paid $1k for a crown meant for someone else and instead of saying hey pay for the visit and the Novocain and labor and we'll take care of the crown we messed up on and I have to pay another $1k out of pocket bc my health insurance won't pay for a dentist mess up. And they had the nerve to ask me how I wanted to pay for that after telling me what they weren't going to do to fix their mistake. They were supposed to call me Monday after they talked to their owner, but didn't get a call til 4-days later. BOOOOO read more

This place is hoaky. I was referred to them by a friend, she called that day and they said they could do an emergency extraction. I went there after going to another dentist this morning and they made me have an appointment for later in the week. I waited which I understood, when taken back I sat in the dental chair for 30 minutes for an X-ray. Finally once the X-ray was done the dentist saw me said the tooth had to come out (duh) and to make an appointment for an extraction! I was like WHAT my friend said you could take it out today. I start a new job tomorrow and have no idea what my hours are yet. He said well I have three emergencies ahead of you and I have to be home by 6:30. I did great thank you for waiting two hours of my day. Then the front office wench had the audacity to charge me 50 bucks when they didn't do anything!! This place is awful. The care here is excellent. I came because another dentist misdiagnosed and created a complex mess to fix. The bedside manor and care provided by the team is top notch. My care was thorough, well explained, with no surprises. I needed one additional upgrade which was discovered after tearing down the tooth. Most dentists would upcharge for this; the Dental Depot team did it complementary which speaks volumes to their ethic and business approach. In June I brought my children to The Dental Depot. I was told that my 8 year old daughter had 10 cavities and needed a pulpotomy and a silver cap. They also my 6 year old son had 13 cavities. The dentist belittled us and was very condescending and rude. I had a bad feeling about this and decided to get a second opinion. My daughter had 5 cavities, did not need a pulpotomy and thankfully no silver cap. My son had only 2 cavities. They used the same X-rays on my son and they never transferred my daughter's records. read more

i have been going here for the ortho department for a year and a half, all was good until the last 6 months. they put me in braces, and when it came down to it the main ortho saw me and told me all is good but my bite, however they can't fix it fully i'd have to have surgery. which was fine. i told them no to surgery because it isn't that big of a deal and he then told me braces should be off here in the next few weeks because that's the only thing that is wrong. well, that was back in october. i call late february and see what's going on because i'm still going in and they haven't said anything since. they totally dropped the ball on me and didn't respond. well, i'm moving here in the next few months and i don't wang to have to find a new ortho just to get them taken off. so i call and they tell me i can just sign a release form and they'll be off. GREAT! well i get a call back saying there's still payments due and they won't take them off if there is, okay, how much do i owe? she refused to tell me. she doesn't know if i owe it or the insurance and she didn't let me talk to the manager who deals with it. she told me to come in on the day i'm supposed to get them off to talk to her, why don't i come in earlier to ensure i get them off that day? why would i wait a month just to see? so i go in and ask for the manager and yet again they won't let me see her/him. i am livid. don't suggest the ortho department to anyone. read more

Let me go through and just clear up the positives and my background before I enter into the issues with this specific Dental Depot. First off, I have been going to this dentist for over 6 years with little to no issues until the last year or so. Dr. Jason Arthurs is an amazing dentist, which has led me to keep him as my dentist for so many years. Here is where the issues start to arise. Overall, the main issue has been the lack of service I have received in the last 12 months. I had an appointment for a teeth cleaning, as well as, some cavity fillings. First, Dr. Arthurs' practice performed two quadrants of cleaning followed by the fillings with the other two quadrant cleanings. After my visit, I had obtained some pain from the fillings, which can happen as a consequence to drilling near nervous tissue. This wasn't the main issue. The real issue was when they made an error on the "work performed" paperwork sent off to my insurance company. They had accidentally reissued a quadrant cleaning which had not been done (i only get one teeth cleaning each year with my insurance, per quadrant). Unknowing of this error yet, I had called them to figure out why I had received an additional bill. The employee was not very helpful. She appeared unable to give me any reason or information on why it had been denied by my insurance and told me to contact them directly. If she would have check my dental records she might have noticed it was peculiar I had the same cleaning twice in two weeks. I had found out through my insurance and they readily fixed the denial error. My insurance said I did not need to contact my dentist because the error had been fixed. Fast forward a couple weeks and My dentist start sending me bills for the incorrect cleaning again. I contact them several times on different days, at different business hours but they always told me the person I need to contact wasn't in the office. They had told me on several occasions they would call me back. Frustrated, I contact my insurance to see if they had completed the resubmission after my dentist's initial error. They had in fact taken care of if and even had the check number and the exact day it was cashed. Unable to get ahold of my dentist after these several attempts, I realized I have no choice but to take a day off from work to formally speak to them. I went into the office calm and prepared with my notes of information. I had asked them why I was still receiving notices for a dental bill when they had received a complete payment for the issue. They told me they had not received the check yet. I told them "my insurance had confirmed it was cashed on this specific date ... check # ..." They had no answer for my data and continued with their same story. I had told them I had to take today off just to come in and talk to them because they refused to call me back and were never willing to talk to me over the phone when I called during normal business hours. They had said several weeks ago they had an unpleasant conversation with my mother and didn't want to call back. Just a little background, I am a 25 year old college graduate and have my own insurance policy. I had told them previously to set up a separate account because I am not a minor anymore, nor do I use her insurance. Stepping way over the line, the receptionist had told me talking to my mother was "like walking into a fire" and used it as her excuse for not calling me back or taking my calls when I did phone into the office. I remained calm, as any attack on your mother would infuriate most individuals. I looked at her and said "ma'am, do you not have my information and phone number?" She replied "yes." So I stated "Then what does my mother have to do with this issue? you have my number and you know I have tried to contact you several times. We all have to have conversations we don't want like as an adult. Furthermore, this error was on your guys end and you only do not have the decency to apologize for your mistake, but you have the nerve to insult my mother and use it as your excuse for not contacting me again. Your actions led me to take a whole day off of work and several hours out of my days in the last several weeks, just to talk to you about your error." Still remaining calm, I told the other receptionist, "I would like to cancel my dental appointment for next week." Let me emphasize that Dr. Arthurs is a great dentist. I have had no bad interactions with the dental hygienists or dental assistants since I've been a patient there. I am not one to complain about much in general but the way the front desk and employees who handle the billing and coding treated my family and me, was enough to make me leave Dr. Arthurs' practice. I never thought I would leave a dentist for their blatant lack of respect and customer service provided. Their dental work is great overall but you learn the true side of a practice, not in the good times, but when friction and issues arise. read more

The front desk created me with a smile and the office manager Summer went over all of my treatment with me before I left. My family and I were in Arizona visiting relatives. Of course that's the perfect time for a crown to pop off. And on top of it all, it was Saturday. We called a couple of dentists from Yelp but none were open. We called Dental Depot and they were open and could get me squeezed in right away. An hour later, my crown was back on and I was out of there! Great staff, explained everything, no one was grumpy that it was Saturday. I would definitely come back here if I needed dental work again. And they have a really cool model train that drives around the entire office... I'm not huge into trains but that was pretty cool. :) read more

My son LOVES the trains in the play area, and the office staff is helpful. Two concerns, both involving communication. One, I asked about the fluoride treatment before they gave it to my son, and my question was completely brushed over and she stuck it in his mouth before I could decide if I wanted him to have it or not. Whether I would have said yes or no, I don't like the fact that the decision was basically not even given to me. When the dentist found two fillings, and I asked about preventing (other than brushing/fluoride) in the future, he targeted drinking juice. My son doesn't like/drink juice, or soda for that matter. He always asks for water, and that is what he has 99.99% of the time. The dentist was gone before I could ask anything else, and considering we had a 10 a.m. appt. and the dentist did not enter the room until 10:45, (we waited in the lobby until almost 10:30), one would expect them to take at least a few minutes to talk to you. Not sure if I can trust them or if we'll go there again, which is a shame because my son really likes the trains. read more

The staff is very friendly and courteous, have a sense of humor, and seem very focused on making sure that their patients get the best care and experience out of their visit. Initially I chose the dental location on 42nd and Bell in Phoenix because of location. An appointment was set to find out the costs between a bridge and an implant. I found that this location charged close to $5,000.00 for the implant and I remember being told that the bridge would run about $1,700.00. My insurance covered $1,000.00 and I figured I could afford the $700.00. I was told that they would submit my insurance for approval. I waited approximately 2 weeks without a reply. I drove by to check of an update. I was told that they had not received a reply from my insurance as yet, but the cost would be the same as first quoted. With that reply I chose to set up my appointment for the bridge. On the day of this appointment they prepared my teeth for the bridge and installed a temporary bridge. On the way out I was asked to make a payment for the work done. I was presented a bill for $1394.60. This immediately sickened me. When I explained my initial understanding of what was quoted, they replied that the insurance company had not replied with what they would pay on my plan and that I had been adamant about getting the work done so they continued. My insurance paid about $920 toward this bill. I was charged for the initial consultation as well. A week later I returned to have the bridge installed. Before leaving they found that the teeth color and bridge color did not match. I was then told that I could go to a different location and have the teeth colors matched for an additional fee. I have never been so misinformed and manipulated in my life. I would encourage every one to read all the comments before using these Dental Depot facilities and even obtain a second quoted somewhere else. I so wish I had never gone here. Worst dental office ever, Dental Depot on Bell rd!!!! Over charge and under deliver. They held on to my money for over a year, didn't even know I had $100 credit untill a few weeks ago when the gave me an estimate for more dental work. When were they going to tell me they had $100 of my money? Then when my temporary partial need to be fixed they said that it's never the same with repair and wanted to charge me for a new one. !! I've had temporary partial break before and the other dentists always make a new one for me. The staff is very rude and condescending when you question their tactics . They over charge, they are a money grubbing denistry with little or no reqaurd to their patients need or comforts, they do as little as possible and charge 3times as much. The only reason i continued to use them was Sommer (the front desk manager) always made me feel comfortable. She explained the billing to me before i went in so i knew what i was going to be paying and could be prepared. Everytime i have had a billing issue or had to speak with them about it she was not there and everyone i have spoken with has been very rude. They cant be bothered to talk about pricing with you. The last time i had an issue, she was on vacation and due to my schedule it was difficult for me to contact during business hours and when i would attempt she had the day off. After speaking to a very nasty woman earlier this year i finally caught her on a day she was there and she explained the situation and we resolved it! She was an asset and to be honest the only one the front desk had. I earlier this month called and scheduled a cleaning, to be honest it would have been my first cleaning because i have had a history of horrible dentists as a child and had a serious fear of going to the dentist. Through my insurance i get 2 cleanings a year. So i guess i was a little naive to the procedure. Well i just got a bill for over $300. I was in a chair for 20 minutes max. The woman who did my cleaning i had a bad experience with the previous year when the numbing shot she had given me made me feel like acid was being poured on my eye as well as in my nose. It was so painful that i request to not receive it. But i didnt complain when i saw that it was her, and was in such good spirits that day i ignored her rudeness. She acts like she hates her job and the people she helps, or maybe she is holding a grudge for my complaint. After i was finished i went to the front desk to have a financial plan written out for my future work (caused by dentists from my childhood) and the woman at the desk was rude, even after Sommer told her to take good care of me. The work i needed to get done is going to cost close to $4000 and when asked i was informed i couldnt make payments. Not once did she explain to me that i would receive a bill, especially one of over $300 for a special cleaning i did not ask for. She said it was covered by insurance and i went home. I called shortly after my visit to speak with Sommer about my options for my future work and was rudely informed that she was no longer with them. I cant even bring myself to call them to complain because i dont feel like dealing with their attitude. So i will make whatever payments i can to square the bill, even though i do not agree with it and even if they dont take payments, and find a new dentist. I have already found 2 who charge less for what i need, take payments and have great referrals. The dentist at this location seemed nice enough, for the 5 minutes i spoke with him, but they just lost my business and i will no longer refer them. This is just one issue too many. Dont go there, the rudeness and random billinh is not worth it. read more

Ok so I have been here 2 times now and I guess I should have learned my lesson the 1st time !!!! visit #1 2013 I went in for a routine ck up and they sold me on a bridge. They had to prepare a good tooth that had no problems at all ( not even a prior filling ) so the bridge will attach to it. In the mean time while I was waiting for my bridge to come in I started having problems /bad pain with the good tooth that they so-call had to prepare ( remember no prior problems with it ) went in for it to be ck'd and was told well sometimes the tooth doesn't take the preparation very well and it needs to have a root canal to the additional cost of $500. A friggen root canal there was NO PROBLEMS WITH MY TOOTH AT ALL PRIOR TO THEM TOUCHING IT. The office mgr had no sympathy at all and was real cold. That's just how you want to be treated when you're in pain and very mad !!! They should be telling you all the options or the maybe's prior to getting the work done !!! Visit # 2 I totally forgot about my 1st experience there. I went in for a routine ck-up again and was told that I had a few cavities and a cracked tooth That needed a cap /crown. I was told the fillings and the cap was no big deal and the cap would take 2 weeks to come in. I went in for my appt and was taken right back to get the work and it all went smooth. So here I am again starting to get bad tooth pain 2 weeks later on the tooth that they so called had to prepare for the cap / crown. I never had any problems with that tooth AT ALL !!!! Now suddenly my 1st expierence is all coming back to me. So The dentist tells me well the crack in your tooth must have been worse than she thought and sometimes they can't see it so now it needs a ROOT CANAL !!!!! A friggen root canal oh and I need to pay full price for it also. No credit for the work just done or nothing, she was real cold about it too. I just waisted $400 !!!!! Ok so here's the kicker I asked the dentist why if there was a slight chance or sometimes as she put it that the procedure needs a root canal why would you not inform your patients of all the possibilities ( if it's common ) why would anybody want to 50 / 50 gamble that the $ 400 procedure wouldn't take and need to pay $500 for an additional procedure? I would have just paid for the $500 procedure 1st !!!! Give me the decision don't make it for me. It's my money and my mouth pain. She just got up and walked away. The assistant re-installed my temp tooth and left so much glue in my mouth and on my lip I was picking it out of my teeth for 20 min after I left and all I could hear while I was in the chair was the office staff talking real loud, laughing and joking around. That's what you want to hear when you are in pain and getting taken advantage of. Real professional guys !!!!! read more
