One of the few famous BBQ places I had not tried in the two years I have lived here. (Side note:…read morethis is ALWAYS a great place to stop for a bathroom break when you are visiting the Bishop Arts District.) We came in for a snack and, of course, left completely full. My friend absolutely loved the burnt ends. He liked them so much that after we finished the first order, he went back and got a second one, plus some brisket and elote. I thought everything was good, but I will say the menu felt a little limited. This is definitely one of those places where I am glad I finally tried it because it is part of the local DFW BBQ experience, but it is probably not somewhere I would specifically seek out again. That said, if someone wanted to go, I would go again without complaint. I DO want to try the Burndt end bloody mary!

Hey Lockhart Smokehouse!…read more (And I'm curious WHY you are called Lockhart - 'cause I used to live in Austin, TX, and going to Lockhart for BBQ was one of our favorite Friday afternoon excursions...) The vibe in this place is really great. The people are friendly. Downtown Plano is cool. The restaurant and bar area are clean, well-attended, and the food and drink are all good. So why only 3-stars? To be fair, I came here on a weeknight around 6:30pm, which is not the best way to judge a BBQ place. I will try to come back on a Friday at lunch time, and I hope things will be epic. Bottom line, I wasn't blown away by the meats! They were well cooked, but the flavor just didn't impress. The Sause (sorry, I'm a Rudy's loyalist) was tasty, but didn't blow my mind. A nice sweet + smoky flavor that worked better with the Spare Ribs than the Brisket. (Another minot note -- I know a lot of BBQ places eschew Baby Back Ribs for Spare Ribs. Lockhart only does Spare Ribs.) Would I come back? 100% Would I recommend that you go here? 100% I have to say the bartender was terrific, and the pit masters were super friendly, so no dis on the staff. I was just hoping for "oh my god" BBQ and didn't quite get there. Still a great visit.

Worth the Drive Every Time - Reliable, Delicious BBQ for Family & Events!…read moreWe've been coming to Natty Flat Smokehouse on Hwy 281 for years, and it never disappoints. It's a bit of a drive from Granbury, but 100% worth it for consistently great Texas BBQ. The meats are always smoked perfectly with excellent flavor and tenderness, we love loading up on brisket, ribs, sausage, and whatever else looks good that day. We've dined in multiple times and also ordered big family plates to bring home for parties, holidays, and events. Everything travels well and still tastes fresh & huge hit with our whole crew. The sides are homemade and solid (the mac & cheese and potato salad get mentioned a lot in our house), and the portions are generous for the price. The rustic, down-home Texas atmosphere is part of the charm, friendly service, plenty of parking, and fun shops nearby (like the giant rocking chair spot). It feels like true Texas Hill Country hospitality. Whether you're stopping in for a quick lunch or catering a gathering, this place delivers "Dang Good BBQ" every visit. If you're anywhere near Lipan or Hwy 281, make the drive. You won't regret it we keep coming back and bringing friends/family with us!

The…read morechicken strips and wings were absolutely delicious, and the oxtail was some of the best I've ever had. I loved that it was served over a bed of rice. The greens, corn nuggets, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, and potato salad were all excellent. The restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was relaxing, the customer service at the front counter was spot on, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food we received. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because of an interaction that left a disappointing impression. The owner appeared to be making his way around the restaurant greeting guests. He stopped by our table, warmly greeted and spoke with my son, then moved on without ever acknowledging me or my wife. It may have been completely unintentional, but it left us feeling overlooked. As someone who serves in ministry and regularly recommends businesses to church members, friends, and professional contacts, I left thinking this could have become one of my go-to recommendations. Unfortunately, that interaction changed what could have been a great relationship with the restaurant. One thing I've learned in life is that you never know who's sitting at your table. A simple greeting can turn a customer into a loyal supporter. The food was excellent, and I sincerely wish this business continued success. I simply hope future guests receive the same level of hospitality as the quality of food being served.

There are plenty of interesting options, making it easy for everyone in the group to find something appealing. We started with the Giant Pretzel and the Crispy Brussels Sprouts, and both were excellent. The pretzel was warm and flavorful, while the Brussels sprouts were crispy and well-seasoned. These appetizers ended up being some of the highlights of the meal. For my entrée, I ordered the pork ribs. The portion size was just right, leaving me satisfied without feeling overly full. The ribs were enjoyable, but they didn't quite measure up to what you'd find at a dedicated Texas barbecue joint. They were good, just not particularly memorable for a region known for exceptional barbecue. One of the restaurant's biggest strengths is its location. Situated right along the river and close to other shops and attractions, it's a great place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. The outdoor setting and overall vibe create a fun, lively experience that encourages you to linger a little longer. Overall, The Woodshed Smokehouse is a fun destination with a fantastic location and a unique menu. While the food was solid, the restaurant's atmosphere and setting are what truly stand out. It's worth a visit if you're looking for a casual meal and an enjoyable place to spend an afternoon.
