I was very anxious about my move from my 3rd floor loft in SF -- I had a lot of heavy furniture requiring disassembly, and my apartment building did not have an elevator. I am very glad I went with Dependable Movers for my job -- they were incredibly efficient, professional, and transparent upfront about pricing. I had the pleasure of working with Yelaman, Tohtar, and Sergei for my move, and they did an excellent job both transporting my furniture and packing it efficiently at my destination. They were able to unmount my TV, and ensure specific boxes were separated from the rest as I requested. Despite all the extra work I needed, they ended up beating the quoted time estimate by almost 2 hours! Although their hourly rate is higher than some other local companies, they more than made up for it with their speed and attention to detail. This moving company is reliable, responsive, reasonably priced, and helpful. I booked a move in advance, and it was a bit complicated. Some things were moving to a new apartment in San Francisco (from Daly City), and others were being stored in a POD. The movers arrived early and got started right away. They estimated they needed more people and had two more people there within 30 minutes. They packed everything carefully and moved all my things without breaking anything. If you don't read the rest of the review here's the summary: they charged by ~5x the original quote, refused to leave my house at 2AM to try to force me to pay, caused ~$10,000 worth of damages, wouldn't return emails for weeks at a time. It's a deliberate scam to underquote and force families to pay. PLEASE SAVE YOUR $ AND THE HEADACHE DO NOT HIRE THEM. Their business model is to deliberately under quote you and will significantly upcharge you at the end of the move, AND REFUSE TO LEAVE YOUR HOUSE TO BULLY YOU INTO PAYING. The movers arrived and spent less than 5 minutes walking through the house to plan the move. They then haphazardly started putting things in boxes, packing antique bowls in the same box as dictionaries - no surprise the bowls were destroyed. They broke a door off the hinges, broke a lightswitch, significantly damaged a retaining wall BY BACKING THEIR TRUCK INTO IT, damaged a dresser and bookcase, along with fragile items. Mid way through the move I was told we would be done at 4PM with no additional overtime fees. The move actually completes at 2AM the movers refused to leave my house until I paid 5 TIMES THE ORIGINAL QUOTE. They immediately got aggressive to try to force me to pay saying they wouldn't leave the house. Alim, Guila and the rest of the team were EXTREMELY AGGRESSIVE over email and phone. Their quoting process is really easy, their technology on the day (added extras, additional insurance for valuable pieces, time tracking) really clear and their communication before and after the move very responsive. We had a team led by AJ (with Bulat, Rza and Abay) move our whole house from the South Bay to San Francisco. They took amazing care of everything, meticulously wrapping items (plastic, then blankets, then plastic again) for safety, loaded the truck with everything strapped down and labeled, and showed great respect of our home on both sides of the move. Dependable Movers helped arrange the storage and picked up and dropped off the furniture and boxes. the crew is professional and they didn't cause any damage. The only negative is the cost for materials to wrap mirrors and protect them with cut up boxes which cost over $200 for two mirrors. Once the quote was given to me in this initial call, I declined the service.
