Went in for drink and listen to the live music which we told our server. We got a seat in a couch which was nice - just couldn't see the performer. my wife got her drink - I was driving so I got charged $4 for soda water out of the fountain which she told us would be the case. Now comes the bad part - the rum and Diet Coke we received was awful - the drink was flat and watery. We told our server and she said it must have come out of a flat bottle and she would tell the bartender - no offer to get us another drink and make us whole. Then she asked what food we wanted (bad memory?). She didn't come back one time to see if we wanted anything else and I had to flag her down to pay the bill. That said the performer which was very good got a good tip and the server got 20% - we normally tip much higher than that especially during Covid. Visiting Durango for the fifth or sixth time, my cousin found this gem of a place. The ambiance, the servers, the food, and, oh my, the craft cocktails, are superb. We had a selection of appetizers that we shared between four people as our meal. Every single dish was delicious, but the pot stickers were amazing. I should also mention we had a table near the stage where there was live entertainment, the male singer was sooooo good. I find myself wanting to go back again tonight. This place is great, hands down. Taking such great COVID precautions. They temp check you when you come in which made me feel so safe (I've never seen a restaurant do that before!) We sat on the back patio and the tables are far apart. They have heat lamps and were constantly checking on us to make sure the temp was comfortable. The inside of this restaurant's vibe is one of the best I've seen. Huge trees with lights and little seating nooks with couches and comfy chairs. You could even see they have plastic dividers between closer tables to separate areas. One of the greatest, most extensive and creative cocktail menus I've ever seen. I got the Cure and it was ! I had seen the jalapeño popper burger on Yelp earlier in the day and was dreaming of it, and it was everything I had hoped for and more. Not too spicy if that's a concern. Upgraded to the truffle fries which were good, but we thought a $4 upcharge per plate was hefty. Overall, amazing place and the menu is so extensive that everyone will find something they enjoy (they even have pictures of everything which, for the indecisive soul that I am, is very much appreciated). read more

The restaurant was pretty with the lit trees but the experience was sub par. I made a reservation for 5 and we were sat at a table that was long and narrow - you couldn't even sit up to it, so you basically ate over your lap - seated in club chairs and a love seat. The wings were good, but the burgers were not. And $5 for a bottle of Coke with no refills is a little ridiculous. They need to tell you up front when you order they come in bottles... the waitress was good once she came but it took 7 min to be greeted from when we sat down. read more

Limited menu.. no substitutions or changes..... the prices of food were much higher than what was listed online... a burger was $23 with soggy fries.. root beer ( small) was $6 glass when the bill came, a 20% gratuity was automatically added ( which would have been fine) but the server neglected to mention it... had we not checked the bill carefully we would have added an additional gratuity. and they added an employee health fee.. i inquired as to what that was, as i had never seen it before, and was told it was to help employees with ski passes/etc bec teluride was expensive place to live... we ate at many other restaurants.... high end , brewhouses, sandwich shops,... and no place had that charge. read more

Derailed is always a go-to for us. Their caesar salad with onion and tomato is the bomb. The southwest egg rolls are so flavorful and leave your mouth dancing and the drinks are quality. Not all bars have special or distinctively different cocktails, but at Detailed, you can enjoy the next level of cocktails. It can get crowded, which should be expected, so if you can squeeze in anywhere, do it. read more

I have never been so insulted by a restaurant in my life! My husband and I arrived with our out of town guests 8 minutes early for our reservation. We were told that our table was still occupied and that it would be a 10-15 minute wait. We said no problem, we will wait at the bar. The hostess told us that we could not wait there and that there was no place in the restaurant we could wait. We must leave the restaurant until our table was ready! No apologies, no explanation. As it was about 11 degrees outside, we decided to go across the street and have a drink at another restaurant while we waited. When we returned 20 minutes later, the same hostess told us that we were now late for our reservation and she was not obligated to seat us! We reminded her that she made us leave in the first place, telling us it would be 10-15 minutes before we would be seated. She begrudgingly seated us but as we were sitting at our table, the manager approached us and said we had to leave, saying we disrespected the hostess!! We thought he was joking and he assured us he was not! We left in stunned disbelief. The rudeness we experienced at Derailed Pour House is beyond compare! read more

We had lunch at the Derailed Pour House yesterday. The staff was gracious and friendly. The service was on the slow side, but this is COVID and we understood they may have been short-staffed. Due to the circumstances in which we all live, it's our custom to tip quite heavily--30 to 50 percent. Folks in the restaurant business are struggling, and that was apparent at the Pour House. We only tipped 20% yesterday because we were disappointed in the quality of the food, which was overcooked, well beyond the medium rare we'd requested. We'll give them another try soon to see if it gets better. read more

It might have been the time of day or time of year. I had an amusing and bad experience. Amusing in a bad way. I went in a Saturday late afternoon. It was very busy. I sat at the bar. There was 1 bartender that had no clue what she was doing. She ended up asking waitresses for help making drinks. Nobody knew the taps and poured the wrong thing numerous times. I ordered an old fashioned with top shelf. It came out with an olive garnish. What!? It had no sugar or orange in it. I paid $9 for a rye with a water back not an old fashioned. Very unprofessional. I'm thrilled to 1) be traveling and eating at a restaurant and 2) greatly appreciate the COVID protections and creativity and staff attention to those protections by this restaurant. I loved the coziness/safety of our booth. I loved the decoration. I loved our waitress. I get that this restaurant is known for outstanding and creative and quality mixed drinks - which we skipped this time. I'd go back for those in a heart beat. The beer flights were pretty good. Not outstanding - but I also appreciate the support for colorado and area breweries. Im subtracting two stars for average to bad food and a very awkward table area. The table had a foot square area in the middle that couldn't be used b/c of fuel in the table. Made it very hard to reach around and share beer flight or appetizer. Get that fixed? The food - We ordered large salads but they were not good. The lettuce was old. Should not have been served but I hate sending food back. The croutons were stale and forgettable. The dressing could have been better. The chicken - yay - was very tasty on top. Our Caprese appetizer was also so average to disappointing. Only four small toast rounds with no taste. Not enough for the 8 or so tomato and mozz slices. Lettuce again was not good. The tomatoes were fine (not really the season) and the mozz was fine. My point - thank you for staying in business and running a very solid restaurant. Consider pulling items when produce is below average. Check that quality control. read more

The food and atmosphere was great. They had just remodeled the place. We had a party of eight and they only had one High Top table that was partitioned down the middle with what I will refer to as a "fire pit." We tried the patio outback- but the smell of natural gas for the "unlit fire pits" in the back was nauseating. So we decided to move back inside. The entree I had was good, the wings not so much. Each beer that came on tap though- seemed a little flat. I switched to drinking Budweiser from a bottle. Great atmosphere. Great location, not a place for groups of 4 or more. The food- Oh my wonderfully fresh and flavorful without the typical greasy spoon or comfort food poor preparation. Affordable and super fresh. The food at Derailed was over the top amazing. We will return with every visit to Colorado. Between this restaurant and Friars Fork in Alamosa, we have found the best 2 restaurants in the entire state of Colorado. Had dinner here last night and were VERY pleased with food AND service. Our server, Jen, was very accommodating to our needs. My wife is gluten intolerant and Jen went above and beyond helping my wife traverse the menu to find what she could eat. Jen pointed out that she really had several options. My wife had a very delicious salad and tacos. I had the barbecue chicken flatbread. Very good. This was our first time at the Derail, but it won't be our last. I don't even know where to begin...it was that good...we walked in and the place is really beautiful with beautiful lighting features everywhere. Loved everything about the look. The menu is large and its hard to get past the amazing cocktails without picking out your first AND your second drink. They were all fantastic. We started off with the cheese curds since you can't get them where we live. Then I had the southwest chicken sandwich and truffle fries and my husband had two tacos. We loved everything. I am sure there desserts are good, but I ended with a cocktail called the White Walker instead. Yum! Our server Ali couldn't have been nicer and was helpful with picking our meal. New Years Eve disappointment !! RSVP at the time we booked they had only 9 other reservations. ( booked mid day) on the 31st. They allowed us to book a booth for a party of 2. We were than told by management that the booth was for party of 4 and if we minded having another couple sit with us or we could be moved to the community table ( high top). I said only if you must give the booth to a part of 4 I understand it being New Years Eve. 730pm we show up and sure enough we were moved to the community table. The booth we originally reserved was given to another couple. They tried to offer be champagne bottle and wine to take home. Refused it!!! Not a good way to treat tourist !!! Brit bartender was very attentive and band was good. My disappointment was the way the handled our reservation. I feel very cheated. read more

There is limited traditional seating, and the wait staff clearly doesn't want customers who aren't ruining up big tabs for drinks. The only rude service we've experienced on our trip to Colorado. We noticed many open tables (4 tops) and asked if we could pull over an extra chair for our family of five.
