The food was great and no issues with it at all. However, we felt extremely rushed. I could understand if there were no other available tables, but they had easy 5-7 tables open, yet, we were rushed out. Piece of advice to management - when people go out, they want to enjoy themselves and spend time with a loved ones. Please, give some realistic time between appetizer and main course. We were still eating our main course when they asked us if we wanted to see the desert menu. I'd like to also point out that we were not there long and most definitely not returning. read more

Went here on Christmas Eve. Everything was wonderful. Food was great. Service was great.

Went for dinner last Saturday evening. The restaurant was very busy but still provided excellent service. The waiter was able to accommodate my dietary needs and was knowledgeable about all of the ingredients for dishes on the menu The food was great from appetizers through entrees. I also have it on reliable authority that the rice pudding was delicious and more like custard. The atmosphere on Saturday night was lively and a bit noisy but not overwhelming. Even enjoyed leftovers two days later. The light airy bread was tasty and plentiful. Definitely planning to return. read more

This place is beautiful! The staff were friendly and helpful from the get-go. As far as the food, we were in heaven from the first bite to the last. Excellent restaurant for authentic turkish cuisine. The ambience and decor are wonderful, and the food is top quality. The service could be better though. The staff is friendly and accommodating but they don't proactively come around to provide more bread or water or ice. You have to wave them down for these things each time. read more

Food was fresh and good quality. Meats were all tender. The only suggestion would be to add a bit more salt or seasoning. I got the mixed grill which had a good mix. Hummus was good but not spectacular. The calamari was tasty and had a different breading which made it very crispy. Salmon was excellent and very tender. And there was a chicken stew dish that was quite good Service was very pleasant but seemed inexperienced. Water was filled for only member of the table despite other glasses less than half full. One empty dish would be taken away but the other left. However they asked if we wanted more of the free bread (like a pita). There is a credit card charge which I had asked prior to paying but I think there may have been a language barrier hence the wrong info was given. Today's Lunch with the Boys took us to Cedar Grove and the new Turkish restaurant, Dervish. Five stars and then some. One reason I picked this place was for the Pide (Turkish Pizza). They did not disappoint from the moment they brought out the warm Lavash !!! Big thanks to Enes for taking such good care of this motley crew .We needed some spreads to dip that sensational bread in. We had Hummus , Eggplant with Tomato Sauce (big favorite) and Babaganoush !!! All outstanding !! I ordered three Pizza's for the table : Kasarli Pide( mozzarella) , Kusbasili Pide (chopped meat, green peppers,and tomatoes) and Karisik Pide (Turkish Sausage,meat and mozzarella) . Outstanding !!! Finished things off with some Turkish Coffee and the best Kunefe we ever had. Made of shredded Phyllo and stuffed with pistachios on a bed of honey !!!! Wow !!! Went there for new years eve dinner.We were a party of six and the table was very tight.We asked if there was something they can do and flat out out said no ( about 5 empty tables around us). After sitting for five minutes we were asked if we were ready to order, we said no and were giving a very dirty look. staff was about as unhappy as it gets and you can clearly see it. The food here is delicious and the service is excellent. The restaurant is well designed and has lovely decor contributing to the ambiance. Highly recommend the Lebni, Spicy Vegetables, and Babaghannous for appetizers. Doner Kebab and Turkish meatballs are a must for mains. The food is delicious, however their waiter service is horrible! You will wait a long time after seating before someone comes to your table. It's a long wait to get service or even someone to ask if we needed anything. We initially had one waiter that took our order and he never came back. Another waiter served the food. We had to flag down another waiter to get dessert. Finally flagged down another waiter to give us our check. Service has to improve! They need to assign waiters at each table that stays with their customers. read more

Food quality and service were average. The food was not bad however it's a very poor value. Portion sizes are tiny on both appetizers and entrees. I had the lamb kebab and there was only one small skewer of meat a tiny scoop of rice and a tiny salad for $26. They could have at least filled up the plate with rice and salad. Rice costs pennies to make. A glass of mint lemonade was $9, sugar water with lemon flavoring. The appetizers are also very small-baba ganoush and stuffed grape leaves. They are skimping on the olive oil because olive oil is expensive. Very little on top of the baba ganoush. Dessert was three tiny pieces of baklava for $12. These guys need to go into Manhattan or to Astoria to see what portion sizes are like. Restaurants there serve two skewers of meat and fill up the plates for the same or less money. This restaurant doesn't have enough competition. I suggest Kabob on the Hill in Rutherford or Rumi Turkish Grill in Jersey city. Much better values for the dollar. read more

Excellent food and service. We sat outside which had a decent ambience even though it is right on the main road (quieter than we anticipated). The outdoor area could use some low volume music to set the mood. We tried very hard to order dishes outside of our comfort zone, that we had never seen on a menu before. Nothing we ordered at Dervish disappointed....Our favorite dish of the night was their Ottoman Salad. WOW!!! The Lebni app with bread was also delicious. Very memorable food here and will be back to try more...... Minus one star for the cigarette smoke travelling into the outdoor seating area from the back kitchen door, the chef takes often smoke breaks and we smelled it. read more

It was our first time at Dervish but will not be our last. We dined on Saturday and they were quite busy. We had to wait for a few minutes for our table but Emory, the host, could not have been nicer or more attentive. The menu is huge with lots of tempting options. Our waiter (we think his name was Bauer) was very pleasant and helpful. We started with the falafel and it was quite good and fried perfectly. For our main course we shared the Kusbasili Pide and the Doner Kebab. Both were excellent! The next few times we dine there we will try other entrees just to see which ones we like the most. We have been looking forward to Dervish opening and we were not disappointed. read more
