We had a great experience and fully intended to return. This year, I needed to board him for 3 nights to attend a sudden funeral out of town. Despite his documented week-long stay, I was told he'd have to redo a paid temperament test that I had to attend in person (impossible with a 9-6 job, let alone while arranging travel for a funeral), followed by two paid 6-hour daycare days -- all before they'd take a dog they already boarded successfully. When I explained the circumstances, there was no flexibility and no effort to help -- just dismissive customer service. I understand re-evaluation policies exist for a reason. But applying them this rigidly to a proven repeat client facing a family emergency tells me everything about how this business treats its customers. We'll be boarding elsewhere.

Kenneth helped me throughout my visit, and he was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in helping me create a successful guppy tank setup. They have an amazing selection of fish and plants, and I really appreciated all the guidance he gave me as I figured out what I needed to upgrade my current tank. I ended up purchasing a variety of shrimp, a beautiful koi guppy, several plants, and a really cool pleco. He walked me through setting up a hospital tank and how to properly treat it with Methylene Blue. His customer service was outstanding (even with my 100 questions). With his help my fish seem to be responding and on the mend. I highly recommend Coast Gem for all your tropical freshwater fish needs. However, there were some not so great things or improvements they should consider. Initial call with the lady to schedule was alright. She honestly didn't cover much of information, I felt like I had to ask her a lot of questions that she initially didn't mention. If she can slowly just go over from start to finish, it would've eased my mind a little bit more during this horrible time. In details... I know this is a business, but also this isn't something people go through every year (hopefully). The doctor came and she was very understanding of the situation. It felt like she was genuinely sorry for what we were going through as she also lost hers not long ago. I do wish that she would've stepped outside the house to give me little more privacy, but it is what it is. Im sure I could've asked. She did her best in the circumstances. Now, the worst part of this experience was the picking up the ashes. It took me 1 hour round trip to get there and it took 2 seconds to get her back and leave the place. The lady came out with a brown bag and hurried me out the door. I honestly didn't know what to expect, but that wasn't it. I was dumbfounded of like what just happened? Can I at least take a moment to open the bag to see what's all inside? Take a moment to just take it all in that I'm picking my child up as ashes? It felt like 'ok, you paid me, now you can go' vibe. It would've been nice to just take a moment instead of being rushed out. Also not sure why they don't offer drop off, I know a lot of people would pay extra for that so at least they are home when they receive the ashes back and go back to cry all they want at home. Most importantly, he always seemed calm and comfortable after his appointments, which meant a lot to us. The grooming quality was consistently excellent, and we were very happy with the results every time. The only disappointing part was that the location closed without any notice to customers. We were surprised to find out and would have appreciated some communication beforehand. That said, our experience with the grooming team was wonderful, and we are grateful for the care they provided to our pup.
